The abolition of the genus name Dictyophora justifies the transfer of this taxon to the genus Phallus, with a new combination being Phallus sibiricus. A recently collected specimen from the locus classicus corresponds to the original description and is designated as an epitype due to the impossibility of sequencing the DNA of the holotype. Section Polygonum is a taxonomically complex group. Identification of individuals is complicated because of the small size of plants, the processes of interspecific hybridization, heterocarpy, phenological and ecological plasticity. In this work, the genetic variability of six populations of five knotweed species growing in Krasnoyarsk was studied. ISSR analysis revealed that the level of genetic diversity in the populations varies from 4.17 % to 35.83 % and has maximum values for genetically close species P. sabulosum (P = 35.83 %) and P. arenastrum (P = 22.5–30 %). Minimum values of genetic diversity were observed for populations of P. aviculare (P = 4.17 %) and P. calcatum (P = 5 %). The studied populations are characterized by a very high level of genetic differentiation (Gst = 0.78) and reliably belong to different species. On the similarity dendrogram (UPGMA), individuals of these species form clearly distinct clades. The genetic structure of populations using STRUCTURE also shows a reliable division of individuals into 5 clusters corresponding to the studied species. Phylogenetic analysis using the trnL-trnF chloroplast region shows the presence of a 5-nucleotide deletion and two transversions that makes it possible to divide the studied group of Polygonum into two morphologically different clusters. The first group is formed by P. arenastrum, P. calcatum, P. caspicum, P. sabulosum and characterized by the absence of a main shoot, a gradual reduction of leaves to the top of shoots and the perianth dissection by 1/2 of its length. The second group includes P. aviculare, P. boreale, P. neglectum, P rectum that have a main shoot, heterophilly, perianth dissection by 2/3–3/4 of its length. Two substitutions have been identified in the matK sequences, however it is less informative for solving taxonomic issues of the studied group.","PeriodicalId":508007,"journal":{"name":"Turczaninowia","volume":"191 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139303928","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

(2n = 14) – from West Siberia. Chromosome numbers on the material from the Novosibirsk Region were revealed for the first time for Axyris amaranthoides L. (2n = 18), Psammophiliella muralis (L.) Ikonn. (2n = 34), Fagopyrum tataricum (L.) Gaertn. (2n = 16), Triticum aestivum L. (2n = 42), Malva verticillata L. (2n ≈ 84). Br. is characterized by the difference between the genera according to the types of fruits and the presence of arils in fruits of representatives of some genera. Attempts to reconstruct the evolution of arils in the Celastraceae were made earlier, while trying to trace the relationship of arils with the mucilagenous pulp and wings on the seed. In particular, earlier attempts were made to reconstruct the evolution of Euonymus arils. But, at present, significant changes in the phylogeny of the genus Euonymus and the family Celastraceae as a whole, as well as new accumulated material require another revision of the evolution of arils of Euonymus. We have studied the morphology-anatomical structure of mature arils of 28 species of Euonymus, as well as (additionally) the development of arils in 8 species of the genus. It is assumed that the aril of ancestral taxa of Euonymus had a funicular-exostomal origin, partially covered the seed, was colored orange, and composed of a single-layered epidermis and undifferentiated multi-layered parenchyma. In the cells of aril there were rounded chromoplasts, and large oil drops were absent. In the process of evolution of the aril of Euonymus, funicular arils appeared, while the funicular-exostomal ones were preserved. The degree of seed covering by aril in some modern species has increased and decreased again, arils have appeared with a small “window”, partially (by 1/2–2/3) covering the seed and small fleshy structures in the basal part of the seed near funicule. The color of arils has been preserved in orange hues, but arils of some species have become red in color. The anatomical structure of the arils has changed. At present, along with multi-layer arils with a multi-layer undifferentiated or weakly differentiated parenchyma, there are arils with a strongly differentiated parenchyma and, conversely, with a parenchyma that is reduced in the process of development. In the process of evolution, fibrous and crystalline chromoplasts and large oil drops of different sizes appear in the cells of the arils.","PeriodicalId":508007,"journal":{"name":"Turczaninowia","volume":"36 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139294723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
