The abolition of the genus name Dictyophora justifies the transfer of this taxon to the genus Phallus, with a new combination being Phallus sibiricus. A recently collected specimen from the locus classicus corresponds to the original description and is designated as an epitype due to the impossibility of sequencing the DNA of the holotype.
