This correction is dominant when the black hole size decreases due to the Hawking radiation. The non-perturbative correction on the black hole entropy is proportional to the exponential of the original entropy with a negative sign. We calculate some thermodynamics quantities such as the internal Helmholtz free energies, and obtain the effect of the exponential correction. We study the first law of thermodynamics and investigate how it satisfies. We also study the stability of the black hole through specific heat analysis and investigate the possible phase transition. We find a second-order phase transition which is interpreted as the unstable/stable phase transition. Then, we find a first-order phase transition which make it unstable. Hence, the final stage of the Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black holes may be an unstable phase which means that black hole evaporation at the quantum scale. It may be a cause that we never find a black hole in accelerators.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139230209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cross-section measurements are possible by using the GSFC micro-calorimeter to record emission spectra from beam plasmas created in the Livermore EBIT-I electron beam ion trap. The cross-sections are experimentally determined from the ratio of the measured intensities of the collisionally excited lines to the intensities of the radiative recombination lines in monoenergetic electron distribution EBIT-I plasmas. The effects of polarization and Auger processes in the beam plasmas are accounted for in the cross-section determination. Experimentally determined cross-sections are compared with those from HULLAC, DWS, and FAC calculations. The measurements exhibit significant differences with the calculations of these excitation cross-sections.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139241983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we reveal the underlying physics of the transformation between the twist and the writhe of DNA. In the framework of the Landau model, we describe the local interaction between the base-pairs by using the chiral gauge potential. With the chiral gauge potential, we develop a geometrical model where the free energy density is given by the geometrical parameters, including the normal curvature, the geodesic curvature and the geodesic torsion. It is shown that the chiral gauge potential plays a crucial role in the conversion between the twist and the writhe of DNA. By using the invariance of the self-linking number, we find that when the total twisting number is changed by ΔQ, the writhing number is changed by -ΔQ. Our findings not only deepen the understanding of the topological nature of DNA, but also provide a physical model for the research of the conformation of DNA.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"105 -108 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139248366","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One way to remove the central singularity of the Schwarzschild black hole is the Kazakov-Solodukhin (KS) proposal, which takes into account the effects of quantum field theory within GR framework leading to the KS black hole. On the other hand, the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) becomes a noteworthy tool for constraining the black hole parameters in gravitational theories. Hence, in this work, we plan to study the null geodesic structure, shadow behavior, energy emission rate, and deflection angle of the KS black hole. Then, we constrain the quantum correction parameter of the KS black hole via EHT data of the M87* supermassive black hole. We observe that increasing the quantum effects in the KS black hole leads to amplify the shadow size of the KS black hole.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"372 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139247096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the involved PT process of P1 molecule, the quantum chemical calculation shows that relative to the ground state S0 with a single potential well, the excited state S1 with a double potential well can give much dynamical information. It is also found that because of the existence of a shallow potential barrier on the excited state S1, the PT in it is much easier than that in the ground state S0. When a laser field is used to pump the wave packet and induce the PT process, the external field parameters, such as the frequency and the envelope, have also influences on the PT process because of the impact of both pump time and the energy gap between two states. This kind of external field effect on the PT process gives a specific perspective to examine its dynamical mechanism and provides a reference for exploring the light-induced biophysical processes.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"4 7-8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139249143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The energy and radii expressions for hydrogen atoms can be used for lithium and lithium-like elements; an important modification is introducing an effective principal quantum number. The effective principal quantum number differs from the principal quantum number of hydrogen by the quantum defect. Quantum defect has respective values for various levels of lithium and lithium ions. In this study, we used extended Ritz formulas to calculate quantum defects required to calculate energies of ns, np, nd, and nf series. Using these energies, we calculated transition probabilities and then the lifetimes of the lithium levels. The lifetimes were calculated with the published data; an excellent agreement was recorded. The work also extended the available list of lifetimes. Forty lifetimes are new and presented for the first time. a polynomial for each of the ns, np, nd, and nf series lifetimes has been produced that fits well the lifetime values","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139351950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
