By analyzing these curves, it identifies all types of geodesic structures for test particles in various regular black hole spacetimes. Using dynamical equations near black holes, it determines two distinct bound orbits for fixed energy levels in different spacetimes and identifies stable and unstable circular orbits as the energy approaches critical values. Additionally, it provides escape orbits for fixed energy levels across different spacetimes. Comparative analysis reveals the fastest and slowest periapsis precession rates, identifies spacetimes with counterclockwise periapsis precession, and highlights those with the most intricate escape orbits for fixed energy levels.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"27 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141928436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A digression from the standard Bekenstein Hawking entropy formulation is considered. Two different modified forms of the entropy functions are studied. For the matter component, five well-known parameterizations of the equation of state parameter are taken into consideration. The diagrammatic representations of the rate of change of the entropy functions in the different models are presented. The outcomes suggest that the GSLT is valid in these models for certain choices of the parameters involved.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"6 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141927899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As an example, the spin-dependent conductance in two-dimensional electron gas under modulation of two magnetic barriers are recalculated and compared with those illustrated in (Wang et al. Chin. Phys. B 19, 037301(2010)). The previous results are found inaccurate, their transfer matrix was derived for slowly varying magnetic vector potential, which is inappropriate for δ-function like Zeeman interaction potentials. Furthermore, the last transfer matrix of eq. (4) is also found incorrect, and the Zeeman interaction is wrongly expressed and mistakenly enhanced about (1/0.067 ≈ 15) times. Our improved method here is general and is demonstrated very fast forevaluating various spin-dependent transport properties in complex hybrid magnetic–electric structures.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"14 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141802003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the most effective geometrical configuration of microchannels for best heat transfer augmentation with least pump power penalty is still unknown. In this research, the heat transfer augmentation in a microchannel heat sink with different shaped periodic reentrant cavities on channel sidewalls are numerically studied. Three different kinds of channel structures are introduced, including convex quarter-circular, concave quarter-circular, and inclined shaped reentrant cavities. The comprehensive performances of the proposed microchannels are compared with that of the smooth straight channel, with respect to the pressure drop, friction coefficient, Nusselt number, and performance factor. The results indicate that the comprehensive performance of the microchannel heat sink with periodic reentrant cavities is superior to the smooth straight channel, because its reentrant cavities can strengthen the mixing of fluids and lower the pressure loss. The proposed microchannels can enhance the heat transfer by 1.7 times, reduce the pressure drop by 3.7%-22.4% at Re 648.2, with the heat transfer entropy production decreased by 15.9%-48.2%. The inclined shaped microchannel has the best overall performance factor among the three proposed channels, which achieves up to 1.59 at Re 648.2.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"134 46","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141810820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The stratified structures within a hailstone provide direct insight into the stages it underwent during its growth. In each region, the grains grow with numerous bubbles both inside them and along the grain boundaries (GBs). As hail takes shape, its grain size gradually increases while within the storm cloud and this growth continues even after it falls to the ground. Grain growth is a thermally activated process that modifies the structure of hail, influenced by the presence of bubbles and atmospheric contaminants accumulated within the cloud. This study examines the evolution of grain size in a cylindrical hailstone containing bubbles, employing theoretical equations and a Monte Carlo-based (MC) growth model. The computational results contribute to a better understanding of the interaction between GBs and pre-existing bubbles, thereby elucidating the grain size evolution in hailstone containing bubbles near the melting point. Additionally, the study assesses the significance of bubbles in retaining information about a storm within hailstones.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":" 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141675913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To satisfy the energy conservation law which is violated in the presence of GS, an existence of a special kind of energy (“G-energy”) responsible for shielding and stored in GS is postulated. The models differ from each other by the details of the spatial dependence of the net gravitational acceleration in the presence of GS as well as by the dependence of that acceleration on the amount of G-energy in GS. As an example, the rotation of a dumbbell like object located at the boundary between the regions of space where gravity is affected and not affected by GS is analyzed in details. The motivation to study gravitational shielding, the very existence of which is challenged, is the presence of steadily repeating attempts to observe this phenomenon. No doubt, such attempts will continue in the future. The results obtained in the present paper could be useful in designing such a research.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"3 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141681270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is the first comprehensive ab initio study on the electronic states of the HX+ cations. The SOC effect is introduced with the state interaction approach. There are total 10 Λ-S and 18 Ω states obtained in the calculation. The results show that the PECs′ shapes and structure of the electronic states of different HX+ cations exhibit the significant distinction due to the X-dependent energy-level order of the unique dissociation channel H+(1Sg)+X(2Pu). From PECs, the spectroscopic constants of the bound electronic states are determined, which are in good agreement with available observed values. Regarding HBr+ and HI+, the good agreement has been achieved only when the SOC effect is considered. The predissociation for the first excited A2Σ+ state of HCl+, HBr+, and HI+ is analyzed based on computed spin-orbit matrix elements. Around the equilibrium position, the energy splittings of X2Π are calculated to be 288 cm-1, 661 cm-1, 2691 cm-1, and 5137 cm-1 for HF+, HCl+, HBr+, and HI+, respectively. It has been demonstrated that SOC is substantial for HX+, leading to significant changes in PECs′ shapes as well as in electronic structure. Finally, the transition properties are predicted, including transition dipole moments, Franck-Condon factors, and radiative lifetimes. Both the Ω transitions A2Σ+ 1/2-X2Π3/2 and A2Σ+ 1/2-X2Π1/2 of the HX+ cations are determined to possess the radiative lifetimes at the microsecond (µs) level.","PeriodicalId":505705,"journal":{"name":"Canadian Journal of Physics","volume":"91 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141101285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
