Series of thermograms were taken. The higher temperature areas were distinguished on the transformer surfaces under different ambient temperatures. The thermograms indicated hot areas at the top of the transformer, especially under high ambient temperature. There were three areas that emit intensive infrared radiation in the spectrum: 7.5 μm < λ< 13 μm. These areas are located in the upper part of the transformer in zones of intense oil circulation forced by the cooling system. According to thermographic research the state of the transformer and the cooling system was proper. Within acoustic research, two areas were located with sources of magnetoacoustic signals of increased activity with the spectrum 15-65 kHz. Sources of these signals were intense phenomena occurring during the magnetization of ferromagnetic materials. No acoustic emission signal with increased activity from partial discharges were detected. The result of thermographic analysis corresponds with the results of acoustic signals analysis and analyzed together give a broader common description of the examined phenomena.","PeriodicalId":50449,"journal":{"name":"Fiber and Integrated Optics","volume":"11204 1","pages":"112040B - 112040B-8"},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2019-09-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77789068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Work concentrates on the experimental examination of influence of relative humidity (RH) in the range of 7-90% in air on the changes of SF refractive index, thickness and optical path at room temperature. Spectral ellipsometry and interference methods are used for the SF thin films optical properties measurements. The sensing structure response value, response time and recovery time are presented. The results shows that RH significantly influenced the SF thin films thickness and refractive index what should be taken into account during the designing of optical devices based on SF. It also shows that SF thin films are promising material for room temperature RH sensors.","PeriodicalId":50449,"journal":{"name":"Fiber and Integrated Optics","volume":"39 1","pages":"1120409 - 1120409-5"},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2019-09-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77798392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing BDC device structures are usually required to determine specific design parameters for different waveguide structures and operating wavelength bands. To circumvent this dilemma, here we present a novel optimization procedure to realize a compact BDC by using the asymmetric curved waveguide structure. The versatile particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is adopted to determine the optimal device parameters of the compact and broadband asymmetric curved directional couplers (ACDCs) for different coupling ratios. In order to reduce the computational complexity in the optimization, the 3D ACDC is first converted to an equivalent 2D structure by using the modified effective index method (MEIM). The device parameters of the equivalent 2D ACDC are optimized by the PSO with the objective function of a wavelength flattened coupling ratio. Afterward, the optimized 2D structure is converted to the 3D one by including the waveguide thickness. To cope with the approximation error by the MEIM, the 3D ACDC is further fine-tuned by sweeping one of the device parameters with the full 3D simulation but keeping all of the other optimal parameters obtained from the PSO intact. As a result, a DC with broad bandwidth of 100 nm is obtained over the wavelength range from 1.50 µm to 1.60 µm with a very small coupling length of 6 µm. The semi-optimized ACDC is used to construct an unbalanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) and a Sagnac loop mirror (SLM), both of which show high extinction ratios of >25 dB over a broad wavelength range with low excess loss.","PeriodicalId":50449,"journal":{"name":"Fiber and Integrated Optics","volume":"50 1","pages":"285 - 303"},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2019-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86141691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we have designed and evaluated two 8-channel optical demultiplexers using photonic crystal ring resonators. The purpose of this study is to investigate the flexibility of this type of resonator for designing and manufacturing optical devices based on photonic crystals. To the extent that we have investigated the literature, there is no report so far on such a study. For this purpose, two structures with the same structural parameters, but only with a difference in the type of lattice constant (square or triangular) are used. Both structures have a common photonic band gap within a proper range for telecommunication applications used in wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) systems. Both designed structures have an average crosstalk of −26 dB. For the demultiplexer structure with a square lattice constant, the quality factor and the transmission coefficient are 3,046 and 93.7% respectively, and its channel spacing is 1.97 nm. For the structure with a triangular lattice constant, the quality factor and the transmission coefficient are 1577.7 and 94.5%, respectively and its channel spacing is equal to 4 nm. To obtain the photonic band gap of the structures, the plane wave expansion (PWE) method is used and the output spectrum of the structures is obtained using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The good results obtained in this study is through designing and simulating optical demultiplexer structures only by creating a change in the type of lattice constant used. This undoubtedly justifies the high flexibility of ring resonators, when used in the design of optical devices, as well as their suitability for the use in WDM systems","PeriodicalId":50449,"journal":{"name":"Fiber and Integrated Optics","volume":"7 1","pages":"271 - 284"},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2019-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81947077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"物理与天体物理","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The key element of this paper is the proposal and the implementation of the Slicing End Point (SEP), that is the client element to set up the slice path, and, at the same time, it allows us to monitor the network performance. The slices are based on VLAN/MPLS/PBB-TE logical paths and they can be managed for the implementation of different class of services. The whole SDN mPlane architecture allows us manage the slices also with restoration procedures.
