They have enabled life-prolonging medical procedures and the foundation for advancements in medicine. This review explores the historical significance of antibiotics in healthcare, underscores the challenges of antibiotic resistance, and emphasises the importance of responsible antibiotic usage. It advocates for developing new antibiotics to combat resistant bacteria and ensure the continued effectiveness of antibiotic therapy in healthcare. A comprehensive search was conducted using academic databases like PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Science Direct and other search engines. The results were refined using filters, advanced search options, and relevant articles retrieved from the search. Antibiotics target and destroy bacterial cells, and each antibiotic type functions differently. However, the overuse and misuse of antibiotics, along with reduced economic incentives and challenging regulatory requirements, have resulted in antibiotic-resistant bacteria emerging, which is a cause for concern worldwide. The rapid emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria endangers the effectiveness of antibiotics that have saved millions of lives and transformed medicine. Antibiotics are essential in medicine, but resistance is a growing concern. New antibiotics need to be developed, and using them wisely is key to maintaining their effectiveness and positive impact on healthcare.","PeriodicalId":503935,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":"103 13","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141016214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A quantitative survey with 30 items was administered online to faculty members (n=72) from diverse disciplines and institutional roles. Specifically, the study examined the effects of top-down leadership, hierarchical organizational culture, and the current challenges faced by academic institutions. The results showed that faculty satisfaction was significantly influenced by the leadership style at the institutional level while institutions with rigid hierarchical cultures tended to have lower faculty satisfaction. The study also identified several challenges faced by academic institutions, including budget constraints, increased workload, and shifting educational paradigms. These challenges also directly impacted faculty satisfaction in a negative way. In conclusion, to enhance faculty satisfaction, institutions should foster transparent leadership, promote a participatory organizational culture, and proactively address the challenges posed by the evolving higher education landscape.","PeriodicalId":503935,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":"83 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141016286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve the objective, nonlinear autoregressive distributed lags (ARDL) models and nonlinear Granger causality tests were employed to analyze annual secondary data which were sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin. Findings show that government investment expenditure displayed a positive and long-term influence on private investment, suggesting a “crowding-in” effect where increased public investment stimulates private investment thereby fostering overall economic growth. Economic adversities or reduced public investment exerted a substantial negative impact on private investment, underscoring the complementarity of government investment expenditure in driving economic growth in Nigeria. Also, the nonlinear Granger causality tests reveal unidirectional relationship as government investment expenditure causes private investment across various embedding dimensions, emphasizing the positive influence of government investment on private investment. The findings generally suggest the need for balanced fiscal policies, prioritizing productive government investments, encouraging private investment, controlling inflation, and making time-sensitive policy decisions to promote economic growth in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":503935,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":" 0","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140386950","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study evaluated the effectiveness of targeted corrective and stability exercises in enhancing shooting accuracy among female basketball players. The quasi-experimental study involved 70 female students, from a public middle school in Villanueva North District, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. They were divided into two groups: Corrective Exercises and Stability Exercises groups. The participants’ pretest and posttest scores were analyzed using descriptive statistics and T-tests. The results indicated that before the intervention, participants in both groups demonstrated poor shooting accuracy with slight improvement following the intervention. The comparable levels of improvement between the two groups suggest that each type of exercise is equally effective in improving basketball shooting accuracy. Results suggest that an exercise program grounded in the Principle of Motor Learning, which breaks down complex actions for more effective practice, can enhance basketball shooting accuracy despite physical asymmetries and balance issues. The study recommends that educators and coaches implement structured physical activities to boost students’ shooting accuracy. It also urges future research to explore comprehensive training programs and demographics of shooting accuracy using corrective and stability exercises.","PeriodicalId":503935,"journal":{"name":"British Journal of Multidisciplinary and Advanced Studies","volume":"27 9","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140436400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
