This study aimed to provide an anatomical explanation for this observation, supported by an in-depth anatomical mapping of the membranous septum (MS) in a large cohort of BAVs and TAVs using cardiac computed tomography (CT). A total of 300 cardiac CT scans were analysed, revealing a significantly shorter sub-annular length of the MS in BAVs at all measuring points compared to TAVs (p < 0.001). In the current BAV cohort, the MS was found to be at its shortest at the RCC site, measuring less than 1 mm in depth. In addition, the MS was located more anteriorly towards the RCC in BAVs, where the transcatheter aortic valve tends to be implanted deeper, and we observed a trend towards a higher PPI rate in BAVs. Carotid vascular ultrasound was performed in 3532 participants in the VIPVIZA trial. Mean and maximal carotid intima media thickness (cIMT) at prespecified angles and plaque presence were examined on the left and right side. Associations between CVD risk factors and ultrasound variables were quantified by partial least squares (PLS) regression. A combined ultrasound variable was computed using weights of the first PLS component. Associations between CVD risk factors and the combined multi-view ultrasound variable, single cIMT and plaque measurements, respectively, were determined using linear regression modelling. The participants' mean age was 55.7 years and 52.9% were women. Plaque prevalence was 51.1% in men and 39.0% in women. cIMT was higher in men than in women and in the left compared with the right carotid artery. The strongest association of CVD risk factors was observed with the combined multi-view ultrasound variable (R2 = 24%), compared with single cIMT variables (R2 = 14-18%) and plaque presence (R2 = 15%). The pattern was similar in both sexes. The association with CVD risk factors and the combined ultrasound variable was stronger in 40-year olds (R2 = 22%) compared with 50- or 60-year olds (R = 12%). CVD risk factors are stronger associated with a combined ultrasound variable than plaque presence or single cIMT measures suggesting that carotid multi-view ultrasonography better captures the focality of early atherosclerosis.Clinical Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, number NCT01849575. However, several studies employing CMR have revealed that myocardial hypertrophy may also involve the RV. To assess RV size and function in a large prospectively cohort of HCM patients and to evaluate whether these parameters in association with other MR findings can predict cardiac events. Two participating centers prospectively included patients with known or suspected HCM between 2011 and 2017. CMR studies were performed with three different scanners. Outcome measures were a composite of ventricular arrhythmias, hospitalization for HF and cardiac death. Of 607 consecutive patients with known or suspected HCM, 315 had complete follow-up information (mean 65 ± 20 months). Among them, 115 patients developed major cardiac events (MACE) during follow-up. At CMR evaluation, patients with events had higher left atrium (LA) diameter (41.5 ± 8 mm vs. 37.17 ± 7.6 mm, p < 0.0001), LV mass (156.7 vs. 144 g, p = 0.005) and myocardial LGE (4.3% vs. 1.9%, p = 0.001). Similarly, patients with events had lower RV stroke volume index (42.7 vs. 47.0, p = 0.0003) and higher prevalence of both RV hypertrophy (16.4% vs. 4.7%, p = 0.0005) and reduced RV ejection fraction (12.2% vs. 4.4%, p = 0.006). In the multivariate analysis, LA diameter and RV stroke volume index were the strongest predictors of events (p < 0.001 and p = 0.0006, respectively). T2 mapping is a proposed solution, but the added value of quantitative myocardial T2 mapping for active cardiac sarcoidosis is unknown. Retrospective cohort analysis of 56 sequential patients with biopsy-confirmed extracardiac sarcoidosis who underwent cardiac MRI for myocardial T2 mapping. The presence or absence of active myocardial inflammation in patients with CS was defined using a modified Japanese circulation society criteria within one month of MRI. Myocardial T2 values were obtained for the 16 standard American Heart Association left ventricular segments. The best model was selected using logistic regression. Receiver operating characteristic curves and dominance analysis were used to evaluate the diagnostic performance and variable importance. Of the 56 sarcoidosis patients included, 14 met criteria for active myocardial inflammation. Mean basal T2 value was the best performing model for the diagnosis of active myocardial inflammation in CS patients (pR2 = 0.493, AUC = 0.918, 95% CI 0.835-1). Mean basal T2 value > 50.8 ms was the most accurate threshold (accuracy = 0.911). Mean basal T2 value + JCS criteria was significantly more accurate than JCS criteria alone (AUC = 0.981 vs. 0.887, p = 0.017). We sought to assess the diagnostic role of myocardial parametric mapping using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in identifying SCA etiology. Consecutive SCA survivors undergoing CMR with myocardial parametric mapping were included in the study. The determination if CMR was decisive or contributory in identifying SCA etiology was made if the diagnosis was unclear prior to CMR, and the discharge diagnosis was consistent with the CMR result. Parametric mapping was considered essential for establishing probable SCA etiology by CMR if the SCA cause could not have been determined without its utilization. If the CMR diagnosis could have been potentially based on the combination of cine and LGE imaging, parametric mapping was considered contributory. Of the 35 patients (mean age 46.9 ± 14.1 years; 57% males) included, SCA diagnosis was based on CMR in 23 (66%) patients. Of those, parametric mapping was essential for the diagnosis of myocarditis and tako-tsubo cardiomyopathy (11/48%) and contributed to the diagnosis in 10 (43%) additional cases. However, its effect on the right ventricle (RV) of amateur runners is unknown. This study aimed was to evaluate the early right ventricular structure and systolic function of amateur marathon runners by three-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (3D-STE), and to further analyze the correlation between relevant parameters and the amount of training. A total of 30 amateur marathon runners (marathon group) and 27 healthy volunteers (control group) were enrolled. Conventional echocardiography combined with 3D-STE was performed in all subjects, and the marathon group was screened by echocardiography a week before a marathon (V1), within 1 h post-marathon (V2), and 4 days post-marathon (V3). RV global longitudinal strain (GLS) and RV end-diastolic volume (EDV) increased significantly in the marathon group compared to the control group (P < 0.05). RV GLS was significantly decreased in the marathon group within 1 h post-marathon (V1: - 26.2 ± 2.5% vs V2: - 23.0 ± 1.6% vs V3: - 25.6 ± 2.6%, P < 0.001). However, there was no significant difference in RV ejection fraction (RVEF) (P > 0.05). The results of the correlation analysis showed that RV EDV and RV end-systolic volume (ESV) were positively correlated with the average training volume (P < 0.001). Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that average training volume was an independent predictor of RV EDV in amateur marathoners (β = 0.642, P < 0.001). The systolic function of the RV was enhanced in amateur marathon runners in the early stage, manifested by an increase in RV EDV. However, the existence of residual cardiac dysfunction after the acute phase is seldom investigated especially in people without a history of specific medical disease. One hundred health care workers with positive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test underwent comprehensive 2D and 3D echocardiography six to eight weeks after infection. Patients were classified into Mild, Moderate, and Severe groups based on their clinical characteristics of covid-19 infection, and all echocardiographic parameters were compared between the three groups. Left ventricular (LV) stroke volume index was reduced in all groups compared to normal ranges and was more prominent in the severe group (P-value < 0.05). 3D-derived LV global longitudinal strain (GLS) was significantly lower in the severe group in comparison to the mild group (- 19.3 ± 1 Vs. - 22.2 ± 2, P-value < 0.001) and correlated with highly sensitive CRP level at the acute phase. Left atrial (LA) strains, including LA peak strain, LA contraction strain, and LA reservoir strain, were considerably higher and LA volume index was significantly lower in the clinically severe covid patients. Analysis based on the extent of lung involvement showed significantly increased 3D-derived right ventricular volumes in patients who experienced severe pneumonia despite normalized strains. Conclusion: subclinical LV dysfunction as reduced stroke volume index and GLS exists in the early recovery phase of normal individuals with severe course of covid-19. However, due to the limitation of current imaging methods, the CAG image has low resolution and poor contrast with a lot of artifacts and noise, which makes it difficult for blood vessels segmentation. In this paper, we propose a DBCU-Net for automatic segmentation of CAG images, which is an extension of U-Net, DenseNet with bi-directional ConvLSTM(BConvLSTM). The main contribution of our network is that instead of convolution in the feature extraction of U-Net, we incorporate dense connectivity and the bi-directional ConvLSTM to highlight salient features. Univariable and stepwise multivariable analyses were performed to assess the associations of cardiovascular risk factors with MPR. A total of 276 patients (236 men and 40 women) were included. The median global MPR was 2.4 (interquartile range 1.9-3.0). Seventy-five (27.2%) patients had an MPR < 2.0. Multivariable linear regression showed that smoking (ß = - 0.44, 95% confidence interval - 0.68 to - 0.21, P < 0.001), hypertension (ß = - 0.24, 95% confidence interval - 0.47 to - 0.02, P = 0.033), and summed difference score (ß = - 0.05, 95% confidence interval - 0.07 to - 0.03, P < 0.001) were independently associated with MPR. Abnormal MPR (< 2.0) was associated with a higher incidence of cardiac death or myocardial infarction (P = 0.034). MPR assessed by dynamic stress <sup>201</sup>Tl/rest <sup>99m</sup>Tc-tetrofosmin SPECT was impaired in a large cohort of patients with diabetes. After adjusting for risk variables, including standard myocardial perfusion imaging characteristics, smoking, and hypertension were associated with MPR.
