Providing enteral nutrition via a nasogastric tube (NGT) is an alternative option. Research on the use of NGTs in Indonesia is still limited, so this research aims to determine the effect of NGT use on the weight of pediatric patients with feeding difficulties at Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital, Padang. \u0000Methods: Experimental research with a pre and post-test-only design was conducted on 96 children aged 1 month - 18 years in the children's inpatient room at Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital, Padang. Body weight measurements were carried out before and after using NGT for 4 weeks (January 2022 – January 2023) at the pediatric nutrition and metabolic diseases polyclinic. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and ANOVA. \u0000Results: Most subjects (40.9%) were in the 1-12 month age group. The most common type of nutrition was ONS (oral nutritional supplements) (84.4%), the most common diagnosis was pulmonology (33.3%), and the majority were without complications (72.9%). There is an influence on the child's weight before and after using NGT (p-value <0.01). Significant differences were also found in changes in children's weight with diagnosis and complications (p<0.01). \u0000Conclusion: The use of NGT can increase the weight of pediatric patients who have feeding difficulties at Dr. M. Djamil General Hospital, Padang. Significant differences were found in changes in children's weight by diagnosis and complications.

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is the most common type of inherited kidney disorder and is observed in 1/500 – 1/1000 people. The diagnosis is usually made by a positive family history , and the Ravine ultrasonographic criteria assess the age and number of cysts in both kidneys. \u0000Case presentation: A 37-year-old male was reported with complaints of intermittent hematuria and a painless lump in the right breast for the last 6 years. Patients routinely drink herbal medicine when symptoms appear. Abdominal physical examination revealed renal ballottement. The lump in the right breast is palpable as a lump ± 1 cm from the nipple. No abnormalities in kidney or liver function were found on laboratory examination. Ultrasound was performed, and polycystic kidney disease was obtained in both kidneys and liver, as well as a hypervascular solid nodule in the right breast. The patient was given antibiotics and antifibrinolytics. Healthy lifestyle education is also provided to patients. The patient was then referred for a biopsy of the nodule. \u0000Conclusion: Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) is a common disease but only a few cases of ADPKD are accompanied by nodules in the breast, so a further approach is needed.

This study aimed to identify risk factors contributing to increased IOP, focusing on patient age and duration of phacoemulsification. \u0000Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Harapan Jayakarta Hospital, Jakarta, for 4 months (May-September 2023) on 43 cataract patients ≥40 years old who underwent phacoemulsification. Inclusion criteria were preoperative IOP 10-21 mmHg, clear conjunctival and corneal structures. Data analysis was carried out univariate and bivariate using SPSS. \u0000Results: Analysis showed a significant correlation between patient age and phacoemulsification duration (older patients = longer phacoemulsification time), with a mean age of 63.21 years. Phacoemulsification duration >270 seconds significantly increases the risk of postoperative IOP. \u0000Conclusion: Prolonged exposure to ultrasonic waves during phacoemulsification can cause cellular injury to the internal structures of the eye, increasing IOP. Identifying modifiable risk factors, such as optimizing phacoemulsification timing, may reduce these complications and improve cataract surgery outcomes.

It exact cause is unknown, and there is ongoing debate surrounding its treatment. Dermoscopic assessments may prove beneficial in evaluating the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. \u0000Case presentation: We present a case of a 20-year-old woman with numerous hyperpigmented macules of brown to slate-grey on her upper trunk, stomach, back, and extremities over the past three years. The patient reported no symptoms such as itching, numbness, or pain. Upon physical examination, mild anemia but otherwise healthy. On physical examination there are multiple brown-grey patches with reddish borders of varying sizes distributed across the body, with unaffected mucosa, scalp, palms, soles, and nails. Dermoscopic examination unveiled a widespread distribution of brown to grey backgrounds with a pinkish homogeneous appearance. Histopathological examination suitable for erythema dyschromicum perstans. The patient received a diagnosis of erythema dyschromicum perstans and underwent treatment involving a combination of topical steroids and Nb-UVB administered three times weekly for a duration of 8 weeks. \u0000Conclusion: This condition presents a cosmetic concern throughout the patient's lifetime and significantly affects their quality of life. After 8 weeks of the combination of topical steroids and Nb-UVB, there was a improvement of erythema and lesion appear lighter. This observation suggests that a treatment with a consistently favorable outcome has not been identified and necessitates further investigation.

Bronchoscopy is the main interventional procedure used in determining the diagnosis and staging of cancer patients and plays a role in interstitial lung disease and infections. The basic principle of bronchoscopy sampling is carried out with a combination of rinsing, brushing, needle aspiration and biopsy. Cryobiopsy has advantages over conventional forceps biopsy and electrocautery because it can produce tissue without artifacts. Navigated bronchoscopy techniques have facilitated peripheral lung tumor biopsies that have better diagnostic yield than conventional transbronchial biopsies. The combination of navigation bronchoscopy with an ultrathin bronchoscope for peripheral lesions is more effective than either modality.

Elevated IOP poses a substantial risk for glaucomatous optic neuropathy and is a key modifiable clinical risk factor. This study aims to explore cases of ocular hypertension coupled with optic nerve cupping, suspected to be glaucoma, providing comprehensive details of examination results, diagnosis, and subsequent management. \u0000Case presentation: A 23-year-old Asian male underwent an ocular examination, revealing average IOP levels measured using non-contact tonometry. Despite no complaints, consecutive measurements noted 28 mmHg for the right eye and 26 mmHg for the left eye. Initial assessments by a glaucoma specialist indicated open-angle anterior chambers. Optical coherence tomography revealed cup disc ratios of 0.7 to 0.8 for both eyes. Medication (Timol) was prescribed, adjusting with oral citicoline and brinzolamide. The diagnosis evolved to juvenile open-angle glaucoma (JOAG). Visual field testing showed normal results. Discontinuation of treatment led to reclassifying the diagnosis as ocular hypertension and scheduling follow-up OCT examinations for five years. \u0000Conclusion: The patient exhibited corneal thickness ≥610 μm, CDR ≥0.7 μm, IOP >25 mmHg, and maintained good visual field conditions. Additional research is essential to understand the correlation between corneal thickness and other eye conditions. Recognizing potential overdiagnosis due to high IOP and large CDR emphasizes the need for meticulous clinical assessment and advanced diagnostic examinations to distinguish physiological and pathological conditions.

It occurs due to an imbalance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory mediators, influencing anabolic and catabolic activities. This study aims to determine the effect of activated growth factor (AGF) on alpha-SMA levels. \u0000Methods: This research is an in vivo post-test-only control group experimental study conducted at the Eureka Research Laboratory. Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into five treatment groups: normal control group, negative control group, AGF I group (TGF-β 100 pg/mL), AGF II group (TGF-β 1000 pg/mL), and AGF III group (TGF-β 10,000 pg/mL). AGF was obtained from rat blood intravenously and centrifuged at a predetermined speed. Growth factor activation was performed by adding 10% CaCl2, and then TGF-β levels were measured. All groups of rats were acclimatized for 7 days. After that, osteoarthritis was induced with intra-articular injection of monoiodoacetate (MIA) 4.8 mg/60μL in all groups of rats except the normal control group. Next, rats were given treatment according to the group for 21 days. On the 21st day, rats were euthanized, and alpha-SMA levels were measured using the sandwich method ELISA kit. \u0000Results: Sequentially, the mean Alpha-SMA levels for each group in pg/mL were: 91.495 ± 2.36; 10.682 ± 1.09; 30.502 ± 2.00; 52.892 ± 1.29; and 76.180 ± 2.65.
