This work offers an integrative review of the evolutionary dynamics underpinning such division of labor from a tripartite standpoint—commencing with a theoretical exposition on numerous archetypes of labor division games. Subsequently, we delineate a suite of control strategies formulated to not only realize but also sustain the phenomenon of division of labor. This is followed by an elucidation of practical implementations pertaining to the allocation of tasks and labor division, grounded in the principles of game theory. We culminate with the proposition of prospective avenues and insightful trajectories for future investigations, cultivating a frontier for the continued exploration within this field.","PeriodicalId":503117,"journal":{"name":"Europhysics Letters","volume":"4 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140702444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the light beam moves at the speed of sound, an amplification effect takes place which can be used in trace gas detection. Here, the properties of the photoacoustic effect are investigated for a continuous optical beam moving in a one-dimensional resonator. The solution shows the additive effects of sweeping the optical beam the length of the cell and back.","PeriodicalId":503117,"journal":{"name":"Europhysics Letters","volume":"2 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140708680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Applications include filtration and waterproof textiles. We present a mathematical model incorporating coupling between evaporation, accumulation and transport of the impurities, and the impact of the deposited impurities on the transport of both the suspended impurities and the liquid vapour. By simulating our model numerically, we investigate the role of temperature and repeated drying cycles on the location of the deposited impurities. Higher temperatures increase the evaporation rate so that impurities are transported further into porous material before depositing than for lower temperatures. We quantify two distinct parameter regimes in which the material clogs: (i) the dry-clogging (high-temperature) regime, in which impurities are pushed far into the material before clogging, and (ii) the wet-clogging (high-impurity) regime, in which liquid becomes trapped by the clogging. Clogging restricts the extent to which drying time can be reduced by increasing the temperature.","PeriodicalId":503117,"journal":{"name":"Europhysics Letters","volume":"26 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140743717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, we propose a novel idea instead of approximately equivalent transformation method, and employ scattering cancellation techniques to design a multi-layer cylindrical structure for achieving flexural wave cloaking at desired target frequencies. Moreover, we use deep learning to effectively address the time consuming issue dealing with fine-tuning design parameters for the desired response. More importantly, we adopt a method based on a tandem neural network to tackle the one-to-many mapping challenge in inverse design. It not only accurately predicts the scattering spectra of multi-layer structures in advance but also efficiently performs inverse design to obtain the required design parameters for arbitrary target frequency cloaking.","PeriodicalId":503117,"journal":{"name":"Europhysics Letters","volume":"117 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140750712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Combining the bilinear Bäklund transformation with the Riemann-theta function, the N-periodic wave solutions can be obtained. Employing the parity of the bilinear forms for the Bäklund transformation, the complexity of the calculation can be reduced. The difficulty of solving N-periodic wave solutions can be transformed into solving least square problems. The Gauss-Newton numerical algorithm is employed to solve this kind of problem. Furthermore, the characteristic lines are used to analyze quantitatively the quasi-periodic solutions. The characteristic line analysis method is specifically demonstrated in the case of N=3. Some examples of numerical simulations for the 3-periodic and 4-periodic waves are presented. It is proved that this method can be further extended to the N-periodic wave solutions.","PeriodicalId":503117,"journal":{"name":"Europhysics Letters","volume":"85 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140750718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the ongoing trend of miniaturization, the design of expressly quantum storage devices is itself a crucial task within current quantum technological research. Here we provide a transparent analytic model of a two-component quantum battery, composed of a charger and an energy holder, which is driven by a short laser pulse. We provide simple expressions for the energy stored in the battery, the maximum amount of work which can be extracted, both the instantaneous and the average powers, and the relevant charging times. This allows us to discuss explicitly the optimal design of the battery in terms of the driving strength of the pulse, the coupling between the charger and the holder, and the inevitable energy loss into the environment. We anticipate that our theory can act as a helpful guide for the nascent experimental work building and characterizing the first generation of truly quantum batteries.","PeriodicalId":503117,"journal":{"name":"Europhysics Letters","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140377105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
