The subjects did not exhibit any health complications and, overall, were in a state of good health. It was found that the mean intake of energy, protein, fat, folic acid and magnesium by respondents was comparable to Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) i.e 98 to 129 per cent of RDA.  But when assessed on parameter of adequacy it was found that only 50 to 53.3 percent of respondents consumed adequate protein. Intake of most of the nutrients (iron, β-carotene, folic acid) under study, by them, was marginally adequate to inadequate when compared to the recommended values (with few exceptions). Calcium intake of 50 per cent of non-obese women was adequate while iron intake of 66.7 per cent of them was 50 to 74.9 per cent of RDA. All the obese and non-obese women were sedentary workers and consumed more energy than their requirement. This low intake in their nutrient intake may be due to inadequate intake of protective foods and it was felt that they need awareness regarding balanced diet and endorse adoption of a healthy life style by including minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity in their daily routines.","PeriodicalId":502836,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Research","volume":"17 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141018493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many researchers believe that one of the causes of this decline is the lack of qualified teachers. To investigate this further, a study was conducted in the Asunafo North Municipality to examine the effect of teacher qualifications on students' performance in mathematics classrooms. A descriptive survey research design was utilized to conduct this study which included 76 respondents, consisting of 60 students (WASSCE candidates) and 16 final year mathematics teachers. This was done through a purposive sampling technique for the sample of teachers and a simple random sampling for the selecting of the WASSCE students. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews, and analyzed using IBM SPSS version 23. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, mean, and standard deviation were used, as well as paired samples T-test to answer the hypothesis testing. The results of the study showed that students taught by highly qualified teachers performed better than those taught by less qualified teachers. This indicates that teacher qualification has a significant impact on students' performance in mathematics. The study concludes that teacher qualification is a major factor affecting students' academic performance in mathematics. Based on the findings, it is recommended that education stakeholders in Ghana, including the Ministry of Education, should employ only qualified teachers who are graduates or masters’ holders with teaching qualifications to teach mathematics at the SHS level.","PeriodicalId":502836,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Research","volume":"34 30","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140081475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A male, no defined breed, neutered feline patient, 11 years old, presented at a veterinary clinic due to episodes of vomiting. No changes were observed during the clinical examination, and the patient underwent additional examinations. Screening tests revealed abnormalities in the stratification of the intestinal layers, indicating the necessity for a biopsy to investigate the tissue architecture of the affected intestinal segments. Following the diagnosis of alimentary lymphoma, drug treatment was initiated, and the patient continued to be clinically monitored. Lymphoma is a common hematopoietic neoplasm in felines, the diagnosis of which is challenging and requires the utilization of several methods to classify it accurately and direct treatment, thereby alleviating clinical signs.","PeriodicalId":502836,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Research","volume":" 504","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140092552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sample comprised of 100 females between the age groups of 18-46 which were selected from 100 households for assessment of health and nutritional status. Stratified random sampling method was used for selection of 5 villages. The primary tool in the study was predesigned and pretested interview schedule. Height, weight recording, clinical examination and body type of females were the part of the study. The design of the study is qualitative that include data from 100 in depth interviews with the mothers. To calculate nutrient intake, twenty –four hour dietary recall method was adopted and was compared with the RDA-2020 given by ICMR. Nearly half (51%) females were short stature and thin. 79 % women were suffering from severe to moderate anemia. Daily intake of foods were deficit in vitamin A (75.5%), vitamin C (54.83%), folic acid (70.32%),Vitamin B12(63%), iron (61.43%) and calcium (47.67%) nutrients. The mean weight of the female was 42.72 Kg. The vast majority (92%) of females had weight less than the weight of the reference women (55Kg). The mean body mass index was 19.39. Only one-third (32%) females were normal( BMI 20.0-25.0).More than half (51%)of the study women suffered from chronic energy deficiency (BMI<18.5). 98 % women were found anemic according to the cut-off (HB<12.0g/dl) proposed by WHO. The overall nutritional status of the tribal females was poor and their nutrient intake was also insufficient showing high percentage deficit in calories, proteins, fats, iron, zinc, calcium and vitamins A, B and C intake. Nutritional anemia, Vit-A and vit-C, VitaminB12 deficiencies were common problems in Mawasi women.","PeriodicalId":502836,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Research","volume":"19 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139776479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
