The Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia has recognized the importance of the preservation of national cultural heritage leading the project “E-culture – digitization of cultural heritage“. The Croatian Memorial Documentation Centre of the Homeland War also aspires to join and participate in the project. Besides records of the military and civil institutions related to the Homeland War, the Croatian Memorial Documentation Center of the Homeland War aims to include documents on broader areas of activities from the Homeland War and related to the War in its collections. Accordingly, one of the most important collections is the one with archives of records related to the Croatian cultural heritage in Homeland War. Projekt zajema digitalizacijo inkunabul različnih dediščinskih ustanov v Sloveniji. Namen članka je predstaviti omenjeni projekt, priporočila in obrazce, ki so bili sprejeti v ta namen, ter vlogo konservatorja-restavratorja v procesu. Pri digitalizaciji se žal še vedno premalo časa posveča fizičnemu stanju gradiva, zato lahko med procesom pride do nepovratnih poškodb na gradivu in tudi do izgube pomembnih zgodovinskih informacij. Vloga konservatorja-restavratorja je tako bistvenega pomena pri ozaveščanju ustanov, ki se z digitalizacijo ukvarjajo, kot tudi pri neposredni pomoči izvajalcu digitalizacije. S sodelovanjem v procesu, pravilnim izborom gradiva, njegovo pripravo, popisom materialnega stanja, vrste poškodb in urejeno dokumentacijo želimo konservatorji-restavratorji zmanjšati tveganja za nastanek novih poškodb gradiva med transportom, shranjevanjem in med samim digitaliziranjem. In this case, the file on an archival fonds or collection contains documentation related to that fonds or collection, which differs in provenance and form. The organization of the abovementioned files and database represents systematic work on creating a comprehensive record on archival records of all fonds and collections stored in the Department for Arranging and Processing of Archival Records of the State Archives in Zagreb for the purpose of achieving permanent and efficient intellectual and physical supervision over said archival holdings. Cilj uporabe orodja za prepoznavanje z roko napisanega besedila je ustvaritev besedila, ki bi omogočilo hitrejše razumevanje, večjo dostopnost in lažjo uporabo specifičnega gradiva ter omogočil prosto iskanje po celotnem besedilu (angl. full-text search). Avtorja sta čez analizo treh dostopnih orodij za prepoznavanje z roko napisanega besedila predstavila postopek in dobljene rezultate na digitaliziranem gradivu Pokrajinskega arhiva Koper. Posebna pozornost je namenjena predstavitvi pomena tistih virov, ki govorijo o »težkih« temah iz polpretekle zgodovine, kot so holokavst, obdobje druge svetovne vojne in nasilje, ki ji je sledilo, politični procesi in podobno. Mednje sodi tudi arhivsko gradivo iz obdobja med letoma 1941 in 1945 na Slovenskem, v katerem so vojna, okupacija, odpor, revolucija in kolaboracija ustvarili popolno okolje za oblikovanje in neusmiljeno obračunavanje dveh političnih taborov, katerega sence sežejo še v današnji čas. Dokumenti partizanske strani so bili v velikem številu že objavljeni, za celovit vpogled v obravnavano obdobje pa je potrebna tudi objava dokumentov protikomunističnega tabora. Children who arrived in Serbia with parents who were unable to take care of them, as well as those without parental care, were a special problem. Serbian refugee homes were organized for these children, and some of them were cared for by Serbian urban and rural families. Young people of school age attended classes in Serbian schools, or in special classes formed at refugee homes. It is not an elementary operation; thus, to some archival writers, it belongs to the background of archivists' work. On the other hand, other archivists consider appraisal a critical archival process. This paper thematises the value of digital archival materials. The author starts with a reflection of value and appraisal and a literature review. Then, the author examines various digital archival content and their value in archives and repositories with distinctive missions. After that, the author reduces the catalogue of values that governs appraisal operations and analyses the notion of the value of digital content.
