While ethnoecology was first introduced by the German philosopher Friedrich Ratzel in 1866, the emergence of this study aims to understand the interactions between humans and their environment. This article attempts to explain developments, review the comparison between ethnobotany and ethnoecology, and see their relevance in Indonesia. The literature study method was used in the process of compiling the narrative in this article. The results of this research show that ethnobotany and ethnoecology have similarities in data collection methods, use of the language spoken by the research subjects, and both study nature. While the difference is that ethnobotany focuses more on the study of plants and ethnoecology focuses on studying the environment, the next difference concerns the nature of objects, ethnobotany discusses living objects, while ethnoecology can discuss living and inanimate objects. Apart from that, ethnobotany and ethnoecology are very relevant when applied in Indonesia, because they can provide new alternatives for cultural studies in Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":498404,"journal":{"name":"Publikasi Berkala Pendidikan Ilmu Sosial","volume":"48 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141011667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article analyzes why family solidarity became so important for their lives in diplomatic posts, the channels and media used to strengthen this solidarity, and the role of women in it. This article was carried out using historical research methods which utilize various primary sources, ranging from ego documents, contemporary publications, oral history, to a number of official archives. This article reveals that family solidarity at diplomatic posts was part of the comfort conditions for the B. M. Diah family. This is due to two factors, namely historical factors and family psychological factors. To build and strengthen family solidarity, the B. M. Diah’s family used a number of channels, spaces, and media, including the family's domestic space, arts, sports, and tourism. This article also reveals that the presence of family solidarity issues has encouraged the emergence of women's agency and activism in the B. M. Diah family. To be precise, B. M. Diah’s wife, Herawati Diah, was present as a driving force, leader, and decision maker in the family in order to strengthen their internal solidarity.","PeriodicalId":498404,"journal":{"name":"Publikasi Berkala Pendidikan Ilmu Sosial","volume":"41 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141011425","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to describe the local wisdom values of the Nandong tradition in Simeulue and their function in cultural inheritance for the local community. This research was conducted using a qualitative ethnographic approach. This research shows that the Simeulue people have various oral traditions, including the nanga-nanga and Dandong traditions. These traditions have meaningful values passed down by their ancestors from generation to generation and are instilled in the daily life of the Simeulue people. , these values are the delivery of moral messages, advice, attitudes of respect, responsibility, and resilience; these values cannot be separated from religious teachings. The cultural inheritance of the local wisdom values of the Nandong tradition is to perform Nandong arts at Simeulue birthday events and cultural festivals, welcoming guests as well as at weddings and circumcisions of the apostles and inviting the public to watch every Nandong performance so that people understand Nandong. Nandong art is also inherited through Nandong poetry, which contains important meaning, namely the advice in it, which is then conveyed to the public regarding knowledge of the signs of natural phenomena. However, the preservation of Nandong culture has begun to fade due to the development of modern musical instruments, so local culture is increasingly rarely displayed.","PeriodicalId":498404,"journal":{"name":"Publikasi Berkala Pendidikan Ilmu Sosial","volume":"252 6‐8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141012824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
