Aristolochia cremersii, hitherto known from French Guiana, was collected in Oriximiná/Pará, and A. argentina, with previously known distribution in Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay, was recorded in Bodoquena/Mato Grosso do Sul. The latter species was identified based on photographic records. Este trabajo se efectuó en las localidades de Puerto Bello Metzabok, y Naha, que son áreas especiales para la conservación de flora y fauna dentro del sistema federal mexicano. Se recolectó un total de 437 individuos adultos que pertenecen a 7 familias (Coenagrionidae, Gomphidae, Heteragrionidae, Lestidae, Libellulidae, Protoneuridae y Polythoridae), pertenecientes a 17 géneros y 36 especies. La mayor riqueza específica fue obtenida en Puerto Bello Metzabok. La especie dominante fue Hetaerina occisa presente en todos los sitios. Debido a esto, si la temperatura ambiental aumenta como consecuencia del cambio climático, los lacertilios podrían verse afectados fisiológica y ecológicamente. Evaluamos la eficiencia térmica y el desempeño locomotor de 3 poblaciones de Microlophus indefatigabilis. Registramos las temperaturas corporales, seleccionadas y críticas de los organismos, su desempeño locomotor y temperaturas operativas durante la temporada fría de 2017. Analizamos las temperaturas ambientales durante el fenómeno de El Niño de 1997 y 2015. Calculamos sus horas de restricción térmica durante el muestreo y ante los posibles aumentos en la temporada fría durante El Niño. Encontramos que las temperaturas corporales variaron significativamente entre poblaciones, pero conservan sus temperaturas seleccionadas, las cuales son cercanas a su temperatura óptima. Microlophus indefatigabilis tiende a termorregular y el extremo superior de su amplitud térmica está cercano a la temperatura crítica máxima. However, the knowledge of the assemblage structure and its spatial variability in the reef ecosystem is quite limited. For that purpose, 5 field surveys (2012-2015) were performed, using the stationary visual census method, at 10 selected reefs. The most important findings were: 116 reef species were recorded. Average total reef fish density (2.31 Ind/m2) is similar to the records for the Caribbean reefs in the 20th century. The top 5 most abundant species were: Chromis multilineata, Ocyurus chrysurus, Abudefduf saxatilis, Stegastes leucostictus, and Elacatinus jarocho. We found evidence of a spatial distribution pattern with 3 well-defined groups of reefs: (1) those near the city of Veracruz, (2) those near the outlet of the Jamapa River, and (3) those farther from the city. Higher fish densities are associated to both high hermatypic coral and low crustose coralline algae bottom covers. The assemblage structure of reef fishes is different at distinct geomorphological reef zones. Los granos de polen fueron acetolizados y se examinaron bajo microscopio electrónico de barrido. Los resultados encontrados aportan información, por primera vez, sobre su morfología en esta sección. El tamaño es pequeño, con formas variadas como el prolado esferoidal, subprolado, oblado esferoidal, hasta el suboblado. La ornamentación de la exina, en la mayoría de las especies, es rugulada, aunque en algunas otras se observó foveolada, microreticulada o verrugada. En épocas recientes, la isla Socorro, archipiélago Revillagigedo ha experimentado importantes pertubaciones tales como brotes poblacionales de la langosta centroamericana (Schistocerca piceifrons). En este estudio se evaluó la abundancia poblacional de la langosta en la isla Socorro y su efecto sobre la vegetación nativa, además, se exploró la relación de la abundancia anual histórica con variables climáticas. Se realizaron muestreos de S. piceifrons en 25 parajes con diferentes tipos de vegetación, en la temporada de lluvias y secas de 2018. También se evaluó el daño por herbívoros sobre las especies de plantas comunes. No se observaron mangas de S. piceifrons y las langostas fueron más abundantes en lluvias. Los niveles de herbivoría fueron bajos (< 7%). Se detectó que la abundancia de langostas se asocia con años en los cuáles se presentan temperaturas moderadas y alta humedad atmosférica. The present study documents species of Digenea parasitizing snakes in the Pampa Biome, southern Brazil. Forty-two individuals belonging to 11 species of Dipsadidae and Viperidae were examined. A total of 178 specimens belonging to 9 taxa of digenetic trematodes were found in 50% of the snakes analyzed. Habitats and host behavior may influence the parasite fauna of snakes, since helminth diversity and abundance were greater in hosts present in semi-aquatic and grassland environments. Further, 89% of digenetic trematodes use anurans as second intermediate hosts; according to the literature, anurans are the most common food resource for these snakes. La presente revisión presenta una breve reseña histórica del análisis de redes tróficas, los distintos tipos y métodos de análisis de éstas. Las redes no ponderadas, aunque sencillas en su construcción, representan aspectos estructurales y de diversidad de manera cuantitativa. Las redes ponderadas tienen la ventaja de conocer el flujo de materia entre las especies, sin embargo, la cantidad y calidad de datos necesarios es muy grande y difícil de obtener. Las redes bipartitas, que pueden ser ponderadas o no, son un caso especial útil en estudios de biogeografía o parasitismo. It is known only from the granitic rock crevices of Cerro de la Calavera, and others in the vicinity, in the southern Cape region mountains. This species is characterized by its suffrutescent habit, as well as by its densely tomentose indumentum, which on its leaves is manifested by different color shades on the upper and lower sides. We present a detailed botanical description, illustrations, and photographs of this new taxon. Since this species seems to be linked to special edaphic conditions, we provide some locations where it might also be found with additional field exploration.
