However, variables related to the socioeconomic status of the community, patient-related factors, treatment provider-related factors, and health system-related factors may influence the outcome of this deformity. These barriers need a two-pronged approach, a top-down (involvement at the policy level) as well as a bottom-up method (involvement at an individual level). Improving the knowledge level of the caregiver as well as the provider and addressing the issues regarding financial constraints will help in eliminating various barriers to the treatment of clubfoot. Furthermore, regular audits help in identifying the efficacy of various solutions employed as well as identifying new barriers to treatment. Integration at the policy level with the involvement of governmental as well as non-governmental organisations helps to remove health system-level bottlenecks.
","PeriodicalId":49415,"journal":{"name":"Tropical Doctor","volume":" ","pages":"38-41"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142299470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such infections are uncommon but cause high mortality when the bacterium enters the bloodstream through an open wound. We present a case of C. violaceum infection isolated from a blood culture sample in a neonate identified at a tertiary care teaching hospital in North East Uttar Pradesh. Timely diagnosis by microbiological methods and antimicrobial treatment led to a successful cure for this life-threatening infection. Thus, such bacteria should be included in the routine spectrum for differential diagnosis of sepsis, to provide a chance of cure.
","PeriodicalId":49415,"journal":{"name":"Tropical Doctor","volume":" ","pages":"65-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142478964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They may be neoplastic or benign. Tuberculosis, the great masquerader, may rarely involve the pancreas mimicking pancreatic malignancy, cyst, or abscess. Identification of this rare entity is crucial to avoid potentially risky surgery as anti-tubercular pharmacotherapy is highly effective. We report a case of a 40-year old cirrhotic man who presented with a cystic hypodense lesion in the pancreatic tail and was subsequently diagnosed with pancreatic tuberculosis. Apart from the rarity of diagnosis, our case also highlights the utility of endoscopic ultrasound for minimally invasive assessment of pancreatic lesions.
","PeriodicalId":49415,"journal":{"name":"Tropical Doctor","volume":" ","pages":"54-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142299473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
