The fleet management strategy is based on multi-agent technology and includes a novel variation of the Contract-Net protocol. This paper also proposes a set of conflict management procedures to deal with the narrow nature of underground drifts, as well as the sequencing of trucks’ loading activities. This strategy is tested in a simulated environment based on an industrial case study. Both the strategy and the test environment were implanted using AnyLogic. More specifically, the fleet management activities addressed are dispatching, routing and traffic management of mining vehicles, which deal respectively with the assignment of the next destination to a vehicle that has just completed a task; the choice of the route to be followed to reach the selected destination; and traffic coordination in the underground transportation network, made up of one-lane bi-directional road segments. To evaluate the proposed solution, an agent-based simulation model of a Canadian underground gold mine is implemented with AnyLogic. Results show that the proposed coordination strategy outperform the one currently employed strategy by the mine under investigation.","PeriodicalId":49180,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Mining Reclamation and Environment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46261698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The COG optimisation process is dynamic and, therefore, must be optimised at all processing stages. The classical approach of Lane’s algorithm is subjective in nature; he makes the mill’s head grade constant once and then makes it dynamic. So, to overcome these limitations, a new algorithm for determining a global optimal COG using a multi-sequential decision algorithm based on dynamic programming for open-pit metalliferous deposits has been presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":49180,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Mining Reclamation and Environment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46361000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the end, it will be concluded that mine paste backfill with recycled rubber materials contributes to the decrease of waste tire pollution and improve some mechanical properties of the filling body. For that purpose, tests were carried out to determine the uniaxial compressive strength, the elastic energy of deformation, Young’s modulus, and Poisson’s ratio in specimens made up of mine tailings, Portland cement, wastewater, rubber powder, and plasticisers. The analysis of experimental data determines that recycled rubber makes fresh slurry have better performance in flow characteristics. In the hardened state, recycled rubber reduces the uniaxial compressive strength of the specimens and Poisson’s ratio, but other features like deformability increase (Young’s modulus decrease) that enhance the ability to absorb elastic strain energy of the filling body. As a result, the study indicates that recycled rubber is applicable to rockburst prevention. The findings of this study provide both invaluable information and industrial applications for the efficient management of solid waste, based on sustainable development and circular economy.","PeriodicalId":49180,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Mining Reclamation and Environment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-08-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47289229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Processing oil sands is a complex operation with a critical sensitivity to the properties of the blended ore at the crusher that must follow the slurry pipeline and separation tank requirements. The blend optimisation in oil sands mines is a tedious work performed mostly manually by the mining engineers at the mine sites and requires fine-tuning as shovels move from one block to another in the same mining face. Miscalculations leading to deviation from the target properties cause inevitable economically and operationally expensive issues to the value chain including but not limited to sanding the pipeline, separation tank hick-ups, etc. Herein, we present a hybrid multi-objective algorithm addressing abovementioned issues in daily blending process and providing the operation crew with a clear practical production target at each mining face. The algorithm takes the processing targets as inputs and minimises deviations from each desired target by considering material properties at mining faces, the capacity of trucks, and production rates of active shovels.","PeriodicalId":49180,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Mining Reclamation and Environment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49508575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The practice requires energy consumption for transporting the WR from underground to ground surface and generates additional operation costs. An alternative practice is to directly pour the WR into mine stopes being filled with paste backfill. However, the natural mixing behaviour of WR poured in a paste backfill has never been studied. To fill this gap, a series of physical model tests have been performed for the first time in the laboratory to understand the natural mixing behaviour of WR and paste backfill. The definitions of solids content by mass of WR and mixing degree are for the first time proposed to quantitatively evaluate the mixing behaviour between the poured WR and paste backfill. The test results show that the penetration of waste rocks into paste backfill and mixing degree can be improved through the use of paste backfill of low solids content, large particle sizes of waste rocks and/or through the increase of falling height of poured waste rocks. The proposed definitions can be used as good indicators to quantitatively evaluate the mixing quality of the natural mixture.</p>","PeriodicalId":49180,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Mining Reclamation and Environment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.4,"publicationDate":"2023-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138512668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Structured light 3D scanner, terrestrial LiDAR scanner, and portable photogrammetry device are used to scan precast different roughness lab-scale specimens. The reconstructed 3D surface is evaluated for accuracy using point cloud distance, joint roughness coefficient, and 3D roughness parameters. Results show that the portable device can reconstruct a 3D model comparable in accuracy to a structured light 3D scanner in 15 minutes.
