Abstract

ABSTRACT The cut-off grade (COG) is a simple economic criterion that distinguishes between ore and waste, while the optimum COG demonstrates the best techno-economical strategy to utilise a geological reserve. The COG optimisation process is dynamic and, therefore, must be optimised at all processing stages. The classical approach of Lane’s algorithm is subjective in nature; he makes the mill’s head grade constant once and then makes it dynamic. So, to overcome these limitations, a new algorithm for determining a global optimal COG using a multi-sequential decision algorithm based on dynamic programming for open-pit metalliferous deposits has been presented in this paper.
