Microdochium bolleyi commonly colonizes wheat roots and other crops. It is considered a weak pathogen or even a non-pathogenic fungal species, which has also been considered as a potential biocontrol agent against aggressive soil-borne pathogens in cereal crops. We isolated a strain of M. bolleyi from wheat roots sampled in a crop field in Argentina, and characterized its abilities to grow in different carbon and nitrogen sources, to produce indole and to solubilize phosphorus; also several enzymatic activities were evaluated. In addition, resynthesis was performed under controlled conditions in order to characterize root fungal colonization under both, optical and transmission microscopy. The strain 22-1 colonized wheat root parenchymal tissue, forming chlamysdospores inside parenchymal cells and root hairs, and poorly grew in carbon and nitrogen sources. This fungus also synthesized indoles in in vitro culture, but it cannot solubilize phosphorus. Only amylase activity was detected out of seven enzymatic activity measured. Microdochium bolleyi (strain 22-1) colonized the roots, it formed typical DSE fungal structures and behaved like a “true endophyte”; however further studies are necessary to elucidate its role in the association with wheat.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"33 1","pages":"169-182"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2018-07-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73706956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El genero Duchesnea incluye dos especies originarias de India: D. indica y D. chrysantha. Durante el periodo 2002-2016, se realizaron monitoreos de especies silvestres relacionadas con la frutilla cultivada en el Noroeste Argentino y se encontraron numerosas poblaciones de D. indica pero ninguna de D. chrysantha. Plantas de D. indica con frutos rojos y plantas con frutos blancos fueron colectadas y conservadas ex situ, en camaras bajo condiciones controladas y en invernaderos a campo. Se consultaron tambien materiales de diferentes herbarios nacionales e internacionales, y solo se encontraron reportes de ejemplares de D. indica de frutos rojos para Argentina. En el presente trabajo se reporta por primera vez para Argentina y Sudamerica, la presencia de poblaciones de D. indica f. albocaput, co-habitando con poblaciones de D. indica f. indica en sotobosques de Tucuman. Con esta cita se amplia el rango de distribucion de D. indica f. albocaput, citada como endemica para Japon. Contributions for the interpretation of the Late Pre-Hispanic Period of Cerro Colorado (Cordoba, Argentina). Ethnobotanical research provides important information from the present upon which paleoethnobotany, a discipline that interprets archaeobotanical remains, stands in order to infer possible uses and practices performed in the past by human groups. This study aimed to, first, identify and document native plant species producing edible fruits currently used by the residents of Cerro Colorado and surrounding areas (Cordoba, Argentina). In second place, it intended to detail practices associated with their use as food (preharvest, harvest, postharvest, consume, discard). In order to achieve both objectives, open and semi-structured interviews and participant observation were performed. As last objective, by evaluating the obtained results, this work tried to approach to the different activities’ spheres where vegetables are implied, which could have occurred in the past A total of 20 species whose fruits are recognized as food were identified, 13 of them are processed somehow before being consumed and the rest are ingested raw, just as “fresh fruit”. Besides, several products were registered such as arrope, jam, jelly and flour prepared from edible fruits. For the archaeologic analysis, information from Quebrada Norte 7 site (Sierra del Norte, Cordoba) is available. Data integration let us perceive actual postharvest practices that probably correlate with past practices, and the existence of discontinuation of wild resources consuming forms.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"20 1","pages":"115-133"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2018-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75300993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
