CICA (“quinoa”) in the Argentinean Northwest. Quinoa crop to obtain grain for human consumption has begun to spread in the region of Calchaquies Valleys (Tucuman, Argentina) over 2,000 m asl. Because quinoa is a new alternative crop, must be carried out ecophysiological and agronomic studies to get its adequate management. In this study the effect of sowing density on the photosynthetic response against different photon flux densities (DFFF) was analyzed in order to calculate the maximum assimilation (A max ), light saturation point (PSL), light compensation point (PCL), photosynthetic efficiency (O CO2 ) and dark respiration (R n ) values. Data in relation to net photosynthetis assimilacion (A n ), stomatal conductance (g s ), leaf transpiration (T r ), internal CO 2 concentration (C i ), carboxilation capacity (A n /C i ) and intrinsec water use efficiency (EUA i ) are provided. In addition, photosynthetic pigment (chlorophylls and carotenoids) and protective one (absorbance at 305 nm) were measured. This study demonstrates that gas exchange parameters are directly correlated with morphology, foliar anatomy and grains yield and that the sowing density has a direct effect on them.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"37 1","pages":"21-29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2018-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85533840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study includes the taxonomic richness by biological type of climbing and epiphytic plants of the coastof Quilmes district, with emphasis on the Municipal Reserve “Selva Marginal Quilmena”. A predominance of native species over exotic ones was found: 6 to 0 of epiphytes and 44 to 12 of climbers. The finding of Sicyos polyacanthus that maintains in the zone its southernmost population is highlighted. It is also relevant the presence of Pleopeltis minima, Araujia angustifolia and Philodendron undulatum that extended their distributions towards the south in recent times. These records, as well as those of several species of difficult discovery in the Rio de la Plata coast, accentuate the value of the area for biodiversity conservation. The varied taxonomic composition of the area could be explained in terms of the complex history of expansion/retraction pulses of altered areas and of spontaneous vegetation, with respect to the others, and the location of the studied area within the dispersal route of the Rio de la Plata fluvial system.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"55 4 1","pages":"103-113"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2018-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90295391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Biological invasions advance on ecosystems causing major changes in their structure and ecological processes. Ulmus pumila L., is an exotic species that develops processes of invasion in Argentina and mechanical and chemical techniques have been used for its control in the affected sites. Biological control is now considerated as a new alternative. In the present work, the infection capacity of Pleurotus ostreatus on U. pumila plants was evaluated in order to collect and provide basic information to generate new options for biological control of U. pumila. Laboratory tests were carried out to determine the success of establishment of Pleurotus on cuttings of native tree species from the biogeographic district of Espinal and U. pumila. It was found that P. ostreatus had the ability to externally colonize all evaluated species although only in stakes of U. pumila could complete the life cycle. Finally, the anatomical study of the wood indicated that U. pumila is the species, among the studied ones, with greater proliferation of mycelium and even with formation of chlamydospores. In this way, it can be said that this exotic species is more susceptible to fungal infection than the native species studied.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"4 1","pages":"31-39"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2018-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79697134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Citrus are fruit trees early introduced into America. Nowadays in Misiones there are 30 ethnovarieties (9 ethnospecies) locally recognized and cultivated in different ways. The objectives of this contribution are to describe the microenvironments where they grow, the practices on those microenvironments and the ethnovarieties present in each one of them, and then to analyze, from a relational approach, the effect of management practices on the processes of domestication of plants and landscape. Fieldwork was performed in Teyu Cuare (San Ignacio) and Cerro Martires (Concepcion), province of Misiones (Argentina), during the years 2010 to 2013. Open-ended and semi-structured interviews were carried out as well as walks with the informants. Seven microenvironments were determined in relation to the presence of citrus, management practices on the plants themselves as well as on microenvironments or groups of microenvironments and by aspects related to vegetation, soil, water availability and proximity to the home. The diversity of citrus recorded in the different microenvironments represents a continuum of varieties representative of the process of domestication in different senses, coinciding in turn with the diversification management practices. The study of management practices allows us to observe current management patterns as well as interpreting nowadays landscapes by inferring past practices.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"43 1","pages":"135-150"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2018-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77421918","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The relationships of similarity existing among fifteen maize racial populations of native maize from the province of Jujuy (Argentina) were studied by univariate (ANOVA) and multivariate statistical methods (Discriminant Canonical Analysis, Cluster Analysis and Prim nets) on the basis of 22 quantitative traits (morphological, reproductive and phenological). The ANOVA detected highly significant differences among landraces for almost every variable. The first two canonical variates (cv) explain 75% of the overall variation. The discriminant traits associated to the first and second cv are related to ear and kernel dimensions (row number of kernel per ear and kernel width) and mainly to vegetative cycle length. These results along with the cluster analysis allowed the identification of racial groups, which are described. It also confirmed the existence of high variability in these races and from the minimum distance between OTUs a hypothetical evolutionary tree of these set of races was built. The results are discussed from the taxonomic and evolutionary point of view and in terms of their potential use in the selection of genetic material for maize breeding programs.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"5 1","pages":"717-735"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2017-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80678617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Plants used as food by Moqoit indian people from Chaco province (Argentina) as well as their specific applications, are here identified from genuine source of information taken during fieldworks. A total of 51 plant species belonging to 25 botanical families, are employed by Moqoit people in 76 forms of preparation and/or consumption. Bromelia hieronymi (5), Aechmea distichantha, Araujia odorata, and Sarcomphalus mistol (4), are the edible plants mostly used. Eighty percent of which (41 species) are native from the Chaco forest, encompassing 82 % of total uses. Raw fruits are the prevalent plant part and form of consumption registered. Comparison with similar data taken during 18th century by jesuit missionaries and during the mid of 20th by Martinez-Crovetto, shows the higher similarity index between the latter ones and those taken at present (0.67). These differences should be explained by the impact of western society over moqoit people, as a consequence of which they were gradually replacing their food items. The edible use of fresh fruits of Scutia buxifolia, the flowers of Glandularia peruviana and the ashes of cfr. Sporobolus spartinus as salt, are here referred to Gran Chaco indigenous people for the first time.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"21 1","pages":"827-840"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2017-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90308959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to investigate the genomic relationships among species of series Turnera (x= 5), a controlled crossing program was performed and yielded numerous hybrids. Among the yellow flowered species of series Turnera, T. krapovickasii, T. scabra and T. subulata have diploid and autotetraploid cytotypes. So far, the degree of reproductive isolation between diploids and autotetraploids, and the degree of genomic affinity at tetraploid level are unknown. In this study, we present the results of the cytogenetic analysis of triploid (2n=3x=15) intraspecific hybrids of T. krapovickasii and T. scabra and tetraploid (2n=4x=20) (2n=4x=20) T. krapovickasii × T. scabra and T. subulata × T. scabra hybrids. In the triploid hybrids we found cells with 1 to 5 trivalents and the pollen viability was 11.4% - 15.2%. In the tetraploid hybrids we found cells with 1 to 5 quadrivalents and the pollen viability was 76% - 87.97%. The results of this work revealed that the reproductive isolation between diploids and tetraploids is incomplete, and that the triploid hybrids are not completely steriles. Likewise, the cytogenetic analysis of the interspecific hybrids evidenced that the genomes of T. krapovickasii, T. scabra and T. subulata display more affinity at tetraploid level than at diploid level.","PeriodicalId":49101,"journal":{"name":"Boletin De La Sociedad Argentina De Botanica","volume":"88 1","pages":"705-715"},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2017-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90921641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"生物学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
