Global stroke rates rise with age. Socioeconomic factors make low- and middle-income youth more susceptible to stroke. Objectives: This study assessed many strokes incidence and predictive factors in Pakistan. Methodology: Stroke cases were studied at Peshawar Postgraduate Hospital. The study comprised consenting patients with recent first-time or recurrent strokes without secondary causes. Results: Our study found that strokes are more common in men (88%) and those over 63. The satisfied income group (72%) and urban population (60%) were the most affected. Ischemic type affected 84% of these cases. Anatomical MRI data shows that a stroke can impact any brain region. Hypertension (55%), with a mean blood pressure of 136/84 and 109/67mm Hg in male and female patients, respectively, was the main risk factor for stroke. Stroke victims' lipid levels were mostly normal. Aspiration pneumonia occurred in 19% of stroke patients. Blood chemistry assays for haemoglobin, total lymphocyte count, blood urea, alkaline phosphatase, and random blood sugar showed significant alterations. 28%, 47%, and 5% of patients' prescription regimens had minor, major, and severe interactions, respectively. Conclusion: Our study found that urban Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa inhabitants have a higher stroke risk than rural residents. These patients had mostly ischemic strokes. This paper summarizes stroke demographics, kinds, and interactions to help discover effective treatments for this potentially fatal disorder.","PeriodicalId":488883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmacy & Integrated Health Sciences","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135737706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objectives: However, the findings were not consistent and remain uncertain. Thus, it is the need of the hour to assess the recent literature, observe limitations and finally propose future research directions in this field. Methodology: The relevant literature published in the English language was retrieved by using different electronic databases including Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed, Ovid, EMBASE, and MEDLINE. Results: Leukotriene modifiers, β-adrenergic receptor agonists, and inhaled corticosteroids are the three most important classes. Data suggested that the heterogeneity in the treatment response among asthma patients is partly due to genetic factors. Conclusion: Large-scale genetic investigations can be improved by using the high throughput technologies that could have promising potential for personalized treatment of asthma, which in turn will minimize side effects, better therapeutic outcomes, and finally lead to more cost-effective care.","PeriodicalId":488883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmacy & Integrated Health Sciences","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135165714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dysmenorrhea usually starts during or right after menarche. Dysmenorrhea can be divided into either; Primary (pain without cause/reason) or Secondary dysmenorrhea (pelvic pain with a cause/disease), both of them are involved in painful menstrual cramps. In addition to this, symptoms such as nausea, headache, irritability and absenteeism from work and education are often reported. Objectives: This research was conducted with an aim to determine the prevalence of dysmenorrhea and to find a relation between BMI and Primary Dysmenorrhea among girls. Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional study with 351 female participants in total was performed through convenience sampling in Islamabad/Rawalpindi with a specifically designed questionnaire with slight modifications from November 2022 to January 2023. Statistics were applied using the IBM SPSS version 26.0. Results: Our research revealed a significant (p = 0.039) association between BMI and the occurrence of Primary Dysmenorrhea. Through statistical comparisons, it was found that mild and severe dysmenorrhea symptoms were more prevalent among study participants who were underweight and those who were obese. The p-values for these comparisons were 0.000 and 0.028, respectively, indicating that underweight subjects are more likely to experience dysmenorrhea. Conclusion: Results show that the incidence of dysmenorrhea is higher in girls of age 18-25 years because of the abnormal Body Mass Index (BMI), which indicates that greater number of population have poor nutritional status and inadequate dietary habits.","PeriodicalId":488883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmacy & Integrated Health Sciences","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135165716","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One such approach of delivery of the drug is through the ethosomes. Objectives: This review aims to describe the vesicular approach of ethosomes that had been used to overcome the barrier for the transdermal delivery of drug and also describes brief composition, method of preparation, characterization tests, mechanism of penetration of ethosomes, as well as highlighted various studies of ethosomes in medicine. Methodology: Relevant data was searched using various databases like Google Scholar, PubMed, SpringerLink and Scopus. Results: Ethosomes are the vesicular shaped structures comprising majorly of phospholipids and ethanol. Due to their size in nanometers and presence of increased amount of the ethanol in its structure, it had shown very high permeation of the drug when given through the transdermal route or topically. There are basically two methods for the formulation of the ethosomes that includes the hot method and cold method. Furthermore, recently more two methods have also been developed for formulating ethosomes including classical mechanical dispersion method and transmembrane pH gradient method. After formulation of ethosomes, many characterization tests can be performed on ethosomes such as pH, particle size, zeta potential, in vitro permeation studies, microscopic evaluation and stability studies. Conclusion: Many more studies are needed to enhance these novel drug delivery systems and other vesicular systems such as transferosomes and invasomes for better therapeutic output and ultimately increasing the patient compliance.","PeriodicalId":488883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmacy & Integrated Health Sciences","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135358344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objectives: This review is aim to provide a comprehensive information on bacteriocins and their application. Methodology: Different databases were searched to find relevant information. Results: The protein of bacteriocins is ribosomal synthesized peptides. These proteins are produced by protein synthesis mechanism within a cell with amino acid composition ranging from 30 to 60 amino acids. The peptides have a narrow to wide spectrum of antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria, and their antibacterial properties remain intact even when exposed to heat. Bacteriocins proteins can be used in hot environments, such as cooking and food preparation, without losing their effectiveness. Additionally, the producer strain of Bacteriocins can provide a degree of self-protection against its own antibacterial peptide. Other than bacteriocins, specific LAB may generate antimicrobial peptides aiding in the preservation and safety of food due to production of cyclic dipeptides. Nisin is non-toxic, produced by generally recognized as safe (GRAS) bacteria, and quickly eliminated in the digestive system. Bacteriocins does not adversely affect the gut microflora. Conclusion: The bacteriocins can provide immunity for foods, allowing processors to maintain their desired microbial balance even after manufacture is complete.","PeriodicalId":488883,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pharmacy & Integrated Health Sciences","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135358542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
