Despite efforts to provide education to needy populations, many schools in the lack basic facilities such as classrooms, textbooks, and teaching materials. This study examined how monitoring and evaluation (M&E) practices impact the effective execution of education projects by NGOs operating in Kakuma refugee camp. It aimed to achieve four main objectives related to M&E: assessing the influence of M&E planning, evaluating M&E technical expertise, understanding management participation's role, and exploring stakeholder involvement. Drawing insights from systems management theory, program theory, and stakeholder theory, the research employed a descriptive survey design focusing on nine NGOs under UNHCR supporting education initiatives in Kakuma refugee camp. Both closed and open-ended questionnaires were used, with a pilot study ensuring questionnaire validity. Data analysis involved employing SPSS version 22, with statistical techniques including frequency distribution tables and Cronbach’s alpha for reliability. The study highlighted the crucial role of comprehensive M&E planning, technical expertise, management participation, and stakeholder engagement in project success. While positive perceptions and significant correlations were observed, improvements are necessary, particularly in enhancing community involvement and continuous improvement efforts. It's recommended to prioritize addressing these areas to optimize project outcomes within the camp.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":"4 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141797958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study chose a sample of publicly listed companies (PLC) in the large Asian companies listed on the stock market, consisting of 120 companies listed from 2010 to 2022. This paper showed that there is a positive and important relation among responsible financial business and profitability performance. Since 2010, after the international financial crisis, some countries have viewed a remarkable development in the public markets, in addition to a rise in the volume of business and a rise in the number of PLC on the stock market. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to test the extent to which these countries have been able to realize the significance of responsible business in the process of profit growth and economic integration, as well as what standards and policies have been applied for the purpose of interesting and encouraging the foreign capital and business. Also based on confirmation, the paper will classify and distinguish foreign direct business, its impact on integration, and its impact on profits. This research recommends that the investing in quality businesses is where your money should grow over the long term.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":"58 36","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141799202","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the world's second-largest producer of raw silk, India contributed 34,903 metric tons in 2021-22, with tasar silk constituting 4% of the country's total silk exports, producing 1,466 metric tons. This sector employs rural communities extensively, with 76.4% of Tasar silk originating in Jharkhand. NGOs like Pradan, in collaboration with government bodies such as the Central Silk Board, play a crucial role in empowering marginalized groups and fostering entrepreneurship. This extension is helpful to the scientific community, because this will help to easily assess the production data. This paper aims to highlight the significant impact of Tasar sericulture and the endeavours of the Pradan organization in empowering rural entrepreneurs in the state of Jharkhand, India. Despite challenges, the tasar silk industry showcases resilience and adaptability. With continued support and innovation this industry contributes to India's tradition of silk production and the uplifting of rural communities.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":"17 14","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141802999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It argues that the changes in economic thought are micro-level reflections of macro-level trends. In the 20th century, major global events such as the rise and fall of Soviet socialism, the decline of British hegemony, and the ascendancy of American dominance shaped the trajectory of economic theories. The study examines how capitalism adapted to socialism through government intervention and eventually reverted to liberalism after the socialist experiment's failure. This paper also draws parallels between past and present geopolitical and economic dynamics, highlighting the similarities between early 20th-century British-German relations and current U.S.-China tensions. It discusses how China's response to U.S. protectionism and the need to craft a unique economic narrative are crucial in this context. Furthermore, the study critiques the extremes of planned and laissez-faire market economies, advocating for a balanced approach that integrates free market principles with government intervention. It underscores the importance of developing new economic theories that reflect China's unique experiences and can guide future development both domestically and globally. Finally, this paper calls for innovative theoretical frameworks to better describe the government's role in economic operations, emphasizing the need for China to assert intellectual leadership in the field of economics to avoid Western dominance and ensure the discipline's relevance to contemporary challenges.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":"25 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141804514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The population consists of the 14 DMBs in Nigeria spanning from 2011 to 2021, out of which twelve banks were selected as the sample size using a criterion on the availability of data.  The paper uses a longitudinal research design to investigate the effect of audit fees and audit tenure on the earnings management of listed DMBs in Nigeria. The audited financial annual reports of the banks chosen were used to collect data for the independent variables such as audit fees and audit tenure, as well as the dependent variable earnings management. The Generalized Method of Moment (GMM) was then employed for analyzing the data. The result shows that audit fee had a coefficient of -0.1461at a significant level of  0.0000.  Audit tenure has positive coefficient of 0.1405at a significant level of 0.0001 influences on listed DMBs' management of earnings in Nigeria. The study therefore concludes that, audit fee curtail EM of listed DMBs in Nigeria while audit tenure do not ameliorate EM of listed DMBs in Nigeria. In order to prevent the threat of familiarity, the paper recommends that DMBs in Nigeria should stick to the statutory and professional standard audit fees and discourage long-term audit firm retention.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":"67 26","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141817825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fintech, a combination of finance and technology, produces innovative solutions for people and businesses and has become an effective tool for attaining financial inclusion on a worldwide scale. This article explores the transformative power of Fintech in promoting financial inclusion and focuses on the challenges of adopting Fintech. Global and national leaders must reduce the digital divide between and within nations in order to benefit from digital financial services and create inclusive societies. This will address growing disparities that have arisen during and after the continuing crisis. To ensure adequate competition, it is necessary to strike a balance between promoting financial innovation and mitigating various risks, such as inadequate consumer protection, low financial and digital literacy, uneven access to digital infrastructure, and data biases that require national action. Additionally, money laundering and cyber risks must be addressed through international agreements and information sharing, including on antitrust laws.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":"13 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141815778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research examines family income, financial management competence, and people's lifestyles after the pandemic. We used an accidental sampling technique to collect data from 160 wives in Malang. The correlation test results show that education level and employment status positively correlate with family income. Furthermore, there is a positive correlation between management competency and lifestyle. The multivariate test shows that family income and education level influence financial management competence and lifestyle. We expect a wife to have strong financial management skills to manage family finances and enhance family welfare effectively.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":"74 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141819005","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of how fit indices contribute to the rigor and reliability of SEM studies. Methodologically, the study reviews prominent fit indices such as Comparative Fit Index (CFI), Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI), Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA), Standardized Root Mean Residual (SRMR), and Chi-Square Test of Model Fit (χ²). Each index is defined, and specific threshold values are discussed to guide researchers in interpreting their findings effectively. Originality in this study lies in synthesizing current literature to emphasize the importance of transparent reporting practices in SEM, enhancing methodological clarity and promoting replicable research outcomes. Contributions include a structured approach to understanding fit indices’ roles in model assessment and validation, aiding researchers in advancing theoretical frameworks with robust empirical support.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":" 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141830820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Global attempts by some economic scholars to validate the relationship between external debt and economic growth have also generated mixed results. Recently, there is an implicit belief by Nigerian public/stakeholders that her increasing level of external debt is adversely affecting her real economic growth (RGDP). This study therefore, empirically investigated the relationship between Nigeria’s RGDP and her external debt (EXD), adding external debt interest charges (EDIC) and nominal foreign exchange rate (NFXR) as control variables. The source of the study data is CBN and it spans for a period of 1980 to 2022. The study applied Co-integration technique, Error Correction Model (ECM) and Granger Causality tests for the econometric analysis. The empirical investigations confirmed that, in the longrun, the selected explanatory variables had significant adverse effect on Nigeria’s RGDP. The Granger Causality test showed that NFXR had unilateral relationship with RGDP, which implies that NFXR determines RGDP without a feedback, while EXD and EDIC established independent relationships with RGDP. The ECM coefficient (-0.154347) is significant and negatively signed. It measures the speed of the adjustment at which equilibrium is restored to RGDP, after the short-run disequilibrium in the selected explanatory variables.  This implies that, in the longrun, Nigeria’s RGDP growth process, adjusts slowly to the variations in the selected time series, which indicates a Policy lag effect.  The study, therefore, recommends effective and sustainable debt management and monitoring to ensure that borrowed funds are spent on productive projects. Government should seriously pursue effective Exchange Rate management. Finally, the Policy makers should design policies that would match the magnitude of the expected changes in order to counter the lag effect.","PeriodicalId":486390,"journal":{"name":"Asian journal of economics, business and accounting","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141829360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
