Some of them were so deadly because they do not respect the sacredness of life. In line with Jeremiah 4:6b, which declares “I will bring evil from the north and a great destruction”. The Lord Himself raised people that show no mercy as documented in chapter 6 verses 22 – 23. Prophet Jeremiah expounds on at least fifteen of such calamities or atrocities that warrant the north being used as instrument of judgment or punishment on the land. In verse 15 of chapter 1, God called the families of the kingdoms of the north to execute judgment for the sake of Judah’s wickedness. The same wickedness is being committed in Nigeria in a greater magnitude, which implies that same north is being used as judgment from impartial God who puts people in the positions to serve others. Hence, leaders are expected to serve in various capacities in every nation. However, there appears to be leadership problems in Nigeria that has seriously affected the whole system. Some of the atrocities committed are no execution of justice between man and his neighbour; disobedient to the covenant / Oath office; shedding of innocent blood; human sacrifice; murder; adultery and fornication; swearing falsely; turning the places of worship to den of robbers; covetousness; and idolatry. Thus, the paper proposes genuine repentance; obedience; Prayer; intercession; trust; honesty and sincerity; and true preaching as the way forward.","PeriodicalId":484177,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICE","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135766019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

African culture, Yoruba in particular, though diverse, is not an exception. Women are wives and mothers. They do the cooking, the mending, the sewing and the washing. They take care of the men and are subordinate to male authority. They are largely excluded from high status occupations and from positions of power. The most basic division of labour appears to be founded on sex or gender. Clearly women are biologically different from men; but gender roles in most societies are a product of culture rather than biology. The division of labour on the basis of sex supported and justified by a value system which gender roles as normal, natural, right and proper. In every society, a higher value is placed on culture than on nature. This paper is aimed at identifying gender violence and abuse, social cultural factors which continue to act against the principles of social justice and equality despite all the national and international initiatives on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. The paper adopted Black feminism as it affects the female in general. It then suggests that man and woman are created in the image of God and no one is inferior to the other. The work concludes by showing the world that violence, abuse and marginalizing women in the society is a crime against humanity and both male and female should rise up to fight it as a crime against gender or violence against women.","PeriodicalId":484177,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICE","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135766018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Who is the kyrios of v. 8? Why would he praise a dishonest steward? How could Jesus possibly hold the steward up as an example for his followers? What is the relationship of verses 8b-13 to the rest of the parable? Traditionally Luke 16:1-13 has been understood as portraying a steward who cheats his master but who is commended for his wisdom, a quality to be imitated by Christ's disciples in their use of material possessions in light of the coming eschatological kingdom. But the difficulties in the parable have elicited variety of challenges to this consensus. In answer to the question of how a master could praise a dishonest steward, some scholars have postulated on socioeconomic grounds that the steward's actions were not really unjust at all and that he was merely releasing his commission. Others have seen the parable as a clear case of irony or have appealed to textual emendation or mistranslations of an Aramaic original. Furthermore most scholars deny that vv. 8b-13 have anything to do with the original Parable and that the parable has anything to do with wealth. This paper examines Nigerians politicians that looted the treasury yet some of our fathers in the Lord instead of rebuking them after they have destroyed the Economy they still praise and celebrate them as national Heroes. The paper concludes that it is not a crime to be wealthy but it must be acquired in a godly way and should be used to assist the poor and to propagate the kingdom of God on earth.","PeriodicalId":484177,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICE","volume":"234 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135766026","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It seems that contemporary Christians have underrated their values, perhaps we may need to take stock of what are really important, in this journey of our Christianity. It is time to learn to walk in the spirit by obeying the word of God that says, we should reach out to the outermost world. There is a great need for individual Christian participation in the operation of rescuing the masses of humanity that are trapped in sins. Christian should not be deceived, the devil is not happy at their decision to oblige the reaching-out and even to carry out the Lord’s commands. Satan using different schemes to manipulate issues in the life of men to gain control of them and then dominate the total affairs of their lives by intimidating its own living system into them, that which is totally against the will of God for man.","PeriodicalId":484177,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICE","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135766017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has inadvertently militated against national integration and achievement of the Sustainable development goals. The constitution and various government policies established for the unification of all Nigerians have failed to achieve the desired result, calling for transformation and genuine cohesion and love in promoting unity and development as advocated by Paul. Exegetical and hermenetical methods were used. Premised on OOOO theoretical framework. The word ??????? (henoteta) was used twice by Paul in Ephesians 4:3 and 13, these are the only two places where the feminine noun features in the New Testament. In these two passages, they both relate to the unity of the Spirit that produces a common faith and knowledge of the Son of God – ??? ??? ??????? ??? ??????? ??? ??? ?????????? ??? ???? ??? ????. Such unity suggests that ecumenism amongst Christian denominations is not only a possibility; it is also a necessity as far as the Christians profess one Christ. This unity is however far from ecclesiological unionism, but organic unity. The church is vulnerable when its diverse lines of doctrines, dogmas, praxis, sacraments and ministerial structures and ethics are emphasised. This suggests that a cohesive antidote would be the emphasis on the philosophy of unity amidst her diversity and relationship with people of other faiths. This study reveals that Christianity is formed on divergent traditions that produced various strands of practices, which in turn produce different Christian sects and denominations. Therefore, a bonding in faith through the invisibility of henotic unity, which the pericope (Eph.4:3,13) suggests will enhance the cohesion of the church spititually, socially, economically, politically and structurally in the midst of doctrinal differences and ethnic dive","PeriodicalId":484177,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICE","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135766023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, it means peace with Allah as the sole creator of all humans, animals, plants, angels, jinn etc. It also means total submission to the will and command of Allah. As a religion of global peace, Islam has bequeathed to humanity a civilization that has presented itself as the greatest heritage that bestowed to humanity enlightenment, knowledge and prosperity, thereby redeeming mankind from the misery and. Even, when Islam was conquered and dominated by foreign powers, its influence has remained unlike other civilizations remained. It resisted eliminations or even complete burial in the sounds of time. This, was made possible because of the great importance attached to knowledge and the pursuance of it by Islam as can be seen from the Qur’an, the Hadith and books of scholars of Islam. This closely links to the great qualities of peace making exhibited by the prophet of Islam Muhammad (SAW), the role model per excellence the world had ever produced. The Qur’an and Hadith are so fundamental on peace and peacemaking. Both the Qur’an and Hadith have turned the ignorant and ruthless society into a beacon of peace with scandalous characters turned into righteous servants of the Almighty, Who lived with love and fear of Allah, and His glory with him deeply set in their refined hearts. Thus, Islam as religion of global peace has a lot to offer on the problems of insecurity in Africa. They identify themselves as Tu' Kajang or Kajang people whose cultural knowledge, cultural behavior, and cultural artifacts are totally governed by local wisdom institutions, namely Pasang ri Kajang or the messages of the Kajang people's ancestors. They are proficient and able to predict natural circulation in a form of belief called Bilang Allo, which is a form of calculating the time and day that is good for activities. The basis for their calculations consists of counting months or nahasae' bulanga, counting days or nahasae' allo, counting time or nahasae' hetu, the behavior of certain animals, and certain natural phenomena. This study aims to explore the phenomenon of calculating time or Bilang Allo to the Kajang Indigenous People in determining the circulation period of the planting season and nature conservation. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative which describes the research results based on social facts obtained from the Kajang Indigenous People. Data collection techniques were carried out in the form of interviews, observations, focus group discussions, recording, documentation, elicitation, and others. The primary research data was taken from 30 Kajang indigenous people informants with variations in age, gender, status, and level of education. The entire research data obtained was processed systematically in seven steps of analysis. The results of research related to the planting season circulation system of Bilang Allo to the belief system adopted by the Kajang Indigenous People in Indonesia consists of seven parts, namely (1) determining good and bad days; (2) animal behavior; (3) natural phenomena; (4) types and rainfall; (5) location and position of the moon; (6) changes in weather.","PeriodicalId":484177,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICE","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136152638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This belief holds that humans play active roles in shaping their lots in life. It connects a persons present woes to moral wrong(s) of his previous existence. It is the concern of this paper to take a phenomenological exploration of this belief in arhialusi emphasizing it social implication among the Iuleha people. The methodology adopted is qualitative, phenomenological and historical. Data were obtained mainly through in-depth interview and non-participatory observation methods. The paper discovered that arhialusi is a cosmic law of retributive justice which seems like the Iuleha version of karma. It unveils also that this belief is anchored on Iuleha notion of the never-ending process of life hence, inextricably tied to their belief in reincarnation. It is the finding of this paper also that awareness of this cosmic law serves as regulatory mechanism for self and social control. This is because it showcases the result of immoral acts of a previous life as well as checkmates the evil conduct of individuals in the present world. The paper uses arhialusi not only to explore the African concept of causality but also to emphatically maintain that not all phenomena could be explained empirically. It thus posits that belief in arhialusi is one of the ways the Iuleha people (Africans) ascertain the ultimate cause of reality, checkmate vices and promotes virtuous conduct in their society.","PeriodicalId":484177,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICE","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136152640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the cultural practice of interest in this paper is the one on inheritance as it particularly relates to the female gender. According to the practice, women do not have any share in the property of the family in which they belong and also contributed in it’s acquisition. The case is worse if they become widows as they are subjected to all obnoxious widowhood practices. This culture of denying, women inheritance rights is a reflection of their notion of womanhood where the philosophy of patriarchy holds sway and women are subjected to a near servile status. It is on this premise that this paper which is an ethical evaluation of Idoma women’s inheritance culture was written. In doing this, the researcher employed qualitative research method to obtain vital information through oral interviews and existing literature to highlight as contained herein, the various responses given by the different categories of people interviewed. Those interviewed included custodians of Idoma culture such as chiefs and heads of families. Women, especially widows, who are mainly at the receiving ends were interviewed and some civil servants such as principal women Development Officers and Local Government Social Welfare Officers in the four Local Government Areas selected as the case study were interviewed. The findings from the responses as to why Idoma women are denied inheritance rights include fear of widows carrying the properties of their late husbands’ to new homes in the event of remarriage which is similar to the reason advanced for denying spinsters inheritance rights, accusation for being responsible for the husbands’ deaths, revenge for unruly behavior of the wives.
