It aims to understand how different knowledge potentials and organizational routines interact to enhance product outcomes. The specific subsidiary context enriches understanding by identifying challenges and opportunities that are not typically visible in broader organizational studies.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Design/methodology/approach</h3>\u0000<p>A survey of 310 business managers was conducted to measure their knowledge potential and organizational routine updating. The hypotheses were tested using hierarchical regression analysis to determine the optimal combinations of knowledge and practice updates for NPD performance.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>Results indicate that both knowledge potential and organizational routine updating significantly enhance subsidiary performance. Specifically, knowledge accumulation paired with routine creation and knowledge difference paired with routine revision optimally boosts product development. Moreover, this study reveals an inverted U-shaped relationship between environmental uncertainty and the effectiveness of these combinations, suggesting a complex interplay that affects NPD performance.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Originality/value</h3>\u0000<p>This study enhances understanding of NPD performance by integrating resource concordance theory with empirical analysis of knowledge and organizational strategy adaptations. It underscores the moderating role of environmental uncertainty, offering new theoretical insights into enhancing product development performance. While there is a growing body of knowledge that has examined how, in a knowledge economy, a firm’s knowledge and innovation activities are closely linked, there is no systematic review available of the key antecedents, perspectives, phenomenon and outcomes of knowledge spillovers.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;!--/ Abstract__block --&gt;\u0000&lt;h3&gt;Design/methodology/approach&lt;/h3&gt;\u0000&lt;p&gt;The authors have conducted dual-stage research. First, the authors conducted a systematic review of literature (97 research articles) by following the theories–contexts–methods framework and the antecedent-phenomenon-outcomes logic. The authors identified the key theories, contexts, methods, antecedents, phenomenon and outcomes of knowledge spillovers between R&amp;D-driven incumbents and start-ups in the open innovation context. In the second stage, the findings of stage one were leveraged to advance a nomological network that depicts the strength of the relationship between the observable constructs that emerged from the review.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;!--/ Abstract__block --&gt;\u0000&lt;h3&gt;Findings&lt;/h3&gt;\u0000&lt;p&gt;The findings demonstrate how knowledge spillovers can help incumbent organisations and start-ups to achieve improved innovation capabilities, R&amp;D capacity, competitive advantage and the creation of knowledge ecosystems leading to improved firm performance. This study has important implications for practitioners and managers – it provides managers with important antecedents of knowledge spillover (knowledge capacities and knowledge types), which directly impact the R&amp;D intensity and digitalisation driving open innovation. The emerging network showed that the antecedents of knowledge spillovers have a direct relationship with the creation of a knowledge ecosystem orchestrated by incumbents and that there is a very strong influence of knowledge capacities and knowledge types on the selection of external knowledge partners/sources.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;!--/ Abstract__block --&gt;\u0000&lt;h3&gt;Practical implications&lt;/h3&gt;\u0000&lt;p&gt;This study has important implications for practitioners and managers. This will enable managers to take important decisions about what knowledge capacities are required to achieve innovation outcomes. Whether organisations have been at the forefront of technological innovation or have had to adapt to much more advanced digitised processes, they have had to change how they manage operations internally and with the remainder of the supply chain they serve. These changes have been much more significant for agile organisations, which rely heavily on digital systems and have strong supplier and customer interactions. Due to the large amount of data generated, these organisations are referred to as knowledge-intensive businesses, and as a result, their KM processes are of the utmost importance. The primary objective is to elucidate how international students navigate cultural differences and use knowledge management strategies to augment their learning and integration, thereby supporting their academic progress in a new academic environment.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Design/methodology/approach</h3>\u0000<p>An in-depth qualitative research strategy was used, using semistructured interviews with Pakistani doctoral students who were studying in Australia. A thematic analysis was conducted to identify recurring themes and patterns in the data.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>The findings reveal that international students adeptly adopt various knowledge management strategies to facilitate cultural adaptation. These strategies encompass embracing otherness through a sense of belonging, engaging in both personal and shared learning experiences, achieving individual success, and using critical inquiry as a guiding framework for observations. Notably, this study underscores the pivotal role played by cultural competence in conjunction with social networks, influencing cultural intelligence and, subsequently, impacting knowledge sharing and integration for academic progress.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Practical implications</h3>\u0000<p>This study’s findings provide practical insights for higher education institutions and policymakers, emphasizing the importance of supporting international students in their cultural adaptation and knowledge management endeavors. Specifically, the study addresses three key research questions: <em>RQ1:</em> How is (generative) AI adopted within KM processes in organisations? <em>RQ2:</em> What factors influence the adoption of AI in these processes, either facilitating or inhibiting it? RQ3: How does AI adoption in KM processes affect organisational decision-making?</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Design/methodology/approach</h3>\u0000<p>An explorative investigation has been conducted through semi-structured interviews with KM and AI experts from a worldwide sample of 52 mostly private, large and for-profit organisations. Interviews have been analysed through a mixed thematic analysis.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>The study provides an original framework in which the three investigated concepts are interconnected according to a dual relationship: linear and retroactive and 20 factors affecting AI adoption within KM processes.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Practical implications</h3>\u0000<p>The provided model guides managers in improving their organisational decision-making through AI adoption in KM processes. Using the ambidexterity perspective, this paper aims to reexamine the effect of the knowledge paradox on collaborative performance to explore the moderating roles of structural and contextual ambidexterity.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Design/methodology/approach</h3>\u0000<p>This study used a sample of 153 firms involved in vertical and horizontal collaboration, collected via questionnaires. Hypotheses were tested using hierarchical regression analysis.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>This study demonstrates that the stronger the knowledge paradox is, the higher the potential for value creation. Thus, knowledge paradox has a positive impact on collaborative performance. The functions of structural ambidexterity and contextual ambidexterity strengthen this positive relationship.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Originality/value</h3>\u0000<p>This paper not only expands the theoretical application of the knowledge paradox and ambidexterity theory in the context of interorganizational relationships but also provides significant managerial implications. Therefore, this study aims to analyze knowledge collaboration management technologies for sustainable growth based on academic literature and technology patents.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Design/methodology/approach</h3>\u0000<p>This paper analyzed current technology and academic trends in KM using BERTopic, an artificial intelligence natural language processing model, and proposed future promising candidate technologies and potential application areas in terms of collaboration and sustainability.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>From the textual data of research papers and patents, this paper extracted 10 and 47 major topics, respectively. Moreover, five potential and feasible candidate patents along with their applicable fields were recommended.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Originality/value</h3>\u0000<p>The strength of this study is its analysis of the technologies affecting collaboration and sustainability in KM. This paper found that new digital technologies (i.e. artificial intelligence, cloud computing and big data) impact organizations’ KM and have the potential for collaboration. Digital technologies have a positive impact on corporate smartness directly and sustainability and inclusion indirectly. This knowledge-sharing process does not occur simultaneously for both parties but follows a sequential progression. Additionally, this governance model fully considers the willingness of both parties to share and effectively addresses the two knowledge characteristics that influence their willingness to do so.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Design/methodology/approach</h3>\u0000<p>This study follows inductive logic and primarily adopts an interpretive case study approach to conduct a longitudinal exploratory case study. An incubator enterprise with active knowledge-sharing activities and significant knowledge governance effects is selected as the research subject. The governance system is explained through the lens of prospect theory at the mechanism level.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>In the study of the knowledge-sharing process, the authors observed a new challenge: perfunctory behavior, whereby individuals engage in knowledge-sharing activities that lack substantial effects as a way to avoid genuine sharing. From this, a new knowledge-sharing model was extracted, the cold start and hot feedback model, which follows a sequential (rather than simultaneous) progression. Using the deterministic effect of prospect theory and the principle of reference dependence, the governance mechanism of corporate knowledge sharing was analyzed from the perspective of knowledge-sharing willingness.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Research limitations/implications</h3>\u0000<p>Based on prospect theory, this study primarily explains how the governance mechanism influences the willingness to share knowledge from the perspective of four principles. In the future, threat rigidity theory and commitment escalation theory can be combined to further analyze the willingness to share knowledge from the perspectives of pressure and cost. Inspired by findings and rich primary data from two consultant interventions, the authors, through theory building, ground five core principles in the general theory of NIH attitude functions. Finally, the authors revisit two consultant interventions to identify and describe mechanisms that led to the enactment of the principles.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>The proposed framework provides five principles for developing NIH-mitigating IGs. The present research proposes that successful knowledge transfer and the mitigation of NIH syndrome as a prerequisite for this success are conditioned by adequately developed IGs.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Originality/value</h3>\u0000<p>The originality and value of the present research lie in the proposed NIH-mitigating IG development framework containing a set of principles for IG development as a proactive rather than reactive approach to NIH mitigation. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first research to address the problematics of mitigating NIH syndrome in consultant knowledge transfer by focusing on developing appropriate IGs. Overcoming the traditional distinction between private vs public sectors, this paper relies on the publicness theory and aims to appreciate the shared value of female entrepreneurship by reviewing evidence from the field of knowledge sharing.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Design/methodology/approach</h3>\u0000<p>The authors conduct a three-phase systematic literature review on female entrepreneurship and knowledge sharing based on a sample of 188 articles for the period 2010–2022 retrieved from the three most extensive databases for evaluating scientific research (i.e. WoS, Scopus and Google Scholar) using a combination of relevant keywords within business and management domain. After the performance analysis of selected publications, the authors conduct a content analysis aimed at identifying the most recurrent theoretical framing, the impact of female entrepreneurship on value creation and the use of knowledge sharing. Finally, the authors conduct a thematic analysis using the theoretical perspective of the publicness to frame how different knowledge-sharing practices have been used in female entrepreneurship to create and spread public value.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Findings</h3>\u0000<p>The findings reveal that female entrepreneurship research has generally adopted managerial organizational and sociological theoretical frameworks, reported positive implications on value creation and has seldom exploited knowledge-sharing practices, with particular reference to the settings of low level of publicness. In addition, based on the development of the conceptual model, the authors suggest that the practice of networking in organizational structures characterized by a high level of political and/or economic authority makes the pattern of public value-sharing with the entire ecosystem easier.</p><!--/ Abstract__block -->\u0000<h3>Originality/value</h3>\u0000<p>The authors adopt an original approach that frames female entrepreneurship research within the lens of publicness theory to highlight the knowledge-sharing practices that allow the value created by female entrepreneurial initiatives to become a shared value in organizations characterized by high levels of political and/or economic authority.
