This manuscript provides an in-depth review of the efficacy, safety, and clinical application of tofacitinib in RA management. Through a comprehensive analysis of clinical trials, real-world studies, and comparative assessments with other RA therapies, we aim to elucidate the role of tofacitinib in improving patient outcomes. The review highlights the mechanisms of action, clinical efficacy, safety profile, and practical considerations for incorporating tofacitinib into RA treatment regimens.","PeriodicalId":483250,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Orthopaedic Rheumatology","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141647750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There have been studies on the etilogical factors, however, limited attention has been given to etiology, prognostic factors, and recurrence rate. Because there are several factors that predispose to recurrence, it is imperative that medical practitioners ensure complete excision of the tumour, including removal of residual satellite nodules. This study is a focus on 0.5cm swelling over dorsal part of the interphalangeal joint of middle finger of the right hand of a 55-year old female that was initially unilobulated, which eventually increased to 3cm and was bilobed over 6 months. With meticulous dissection and the use of magnification loupe to obtain a low recurrence rate, thereby emphasising the key role of surgery as the first prognostic factor of GCTTS.","PeriodicalId":483250,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Orthopaedic Rheumatology","volume":"27 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139776125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An Ethno-botanical study was conducted to take inventory of the species by the inhabitants of various communities in Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government area of Kogi State in bone fracture treatment and dislocation. The study was carried out between May through September 2019. Ethnomedicinal knowledge was gathered from 20 traditional bone setters in 10 communities using questionnaires. The plants most referenced from the questionnaire were collected and identified using various standard methods and procedures. 80% of the respondents were male while 20% were female. 40% were in the range of 31-41 years of age and only 10% were in the age range of 20-30 years. About 45% has no formal education while only 5% had a university degree. TBS with most year of experience (21-25 years) are only 5% while the profession is dominated by those of moderate time of practice (11-15 years) with 40% representative. A total of 49 medicinal plant species distributed in 27 families and genera were documented. Family Euphorbiaceae was found to be mostly used for fracture treatment. The most frequent used plant parts were the leaves (49.5%). The method of preparation of the herbal remedies were generally best in the form of poultice administered in the form of paste to give the best result in fracture and bone setting treatment.","PeriodicalId":483250,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Orthopaedic Rheumatology","volume":"111 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139776779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data from 60 patients with knee osteoarthritis treated with BMAC injection at a single centre between December 2021 and December 2022 were retrospectively examined. We only included patients with idiopathic osteoarthritis. Post-traumatic osteoarthritis, prior knee surgery, ageless then 50 years or over 85 years, an active infection, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, rheumatological or another systemic condition, cancer, or immunosuppressive medication use were all exclusion factors. A single-spin manual approach was used to aspirate and concentrate bone marrow from the iliac crest. The Numeric pain scale (NPS) and Oxford knee score (OKS) were used to evaluate patients both before and after the treatment. A 12-month follow-up period was used. The statistical analysis comprised a total of 60 patients. With a mean age of 67 years (range 50-85), there were 42 females and 18 males. At the end of the follow-up period, the mean NPS reduced from 8.12 to 4.31 (p< 0.001) and the mean OKS rise from 22.30 to 34.74 (p <0.001). There were no problems. A single BMAC intra-articular injection is a dependable and safe technique that improves the clinical condition of knee OA.","PeriodicalId":483250,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Orthopaedic Rheumatology","volume":"137 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139836199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
