In order to do this, we compared the existing law, court cases, and government guidelines in respective countries on how they assess the patent application for computer or software operation as a method of doing business in this technological era. Our results showed that business methods were historically not patentable but are now eligible for patentability in some countries. This type of invention could be patented in the United States but not in the United Kingdom and Malaysia. Despite being allowed to be patented in the United States, there are still arguments and development by the Court and the United States Patent & Trademark Office regarding the assessment of the claim. For United Kingdom, despite the exception in United Kingdom Patents Act 1977, a thorough look reveals that business methods are actually eligible for patentability in the United Kingdom but somewhat under stricter legal conditions. As for Malaysia, there is as yet a reported case that has judicially considered the scope of this exclusion but it can be seen that Malaysia also starting to acknowledge the patentability of business methods. The ban is reasonable as higher education institutions are places to acquire knowledge so the environment must be kept clean and healthy. The objective of this article is to discuss the offence of smoking on campus which can pose a direct health threat to smokers and passive smokers too. In addition, the practice of smoking from the point of view of Islam is also investigated. This study employs qualitative methods through library based and descriptive research. It is found that there are risks and negative effects when the respective parties do not observe the smoking ban. Among them, the air quality on campus becomes unhealthy thus posing a health threat to smokers and the individuals nearby. At the higher education institution level, actions such as fines or compounds can be implemented as stipulated in the rules and guidelines of the institution. This study validates the notion of smoking prohibition in Islam. In line with that, most scholars in academic circles had previously been writing and discussing the issues and implementation of waqf properties in Malaysia. Therefore, this study is an attempt to identify the relevance of the writings of the scholars concerning the development of istibdal waqf, including the practice and scope of discussion, as well as to explore the issue and practical recommendations suggested by the scholars, particularly in Malaysia. The researchers applied a qualitative method in which the data collection was based on different sources of literature, such as research, books, articles, and other related documents. The analyses are followed by content analysis methods to formulate thematic framework in the writing of istibdal waqf in Malaysia. However, rural women are often seen as falling behind in terms of benefiting from development. Therefore, this study aims to examine the roles of the media, to analyse issues concerning rural women, and to identify themes of rural women’s empowerment in online news reporting. In-depth interviews were conducted with five experts in the women- and media-related field. The study used a content analysis method to examine the themes and paragraphs of articles from two online mainstream newspapers: Berita Harian (BH) and the New Straits Times (NST). The results showed that spreading awareness and motivation, education, decision-making, balanced and fairness, online participation, local organisation, freedom of expression, and newsworthiness are important factors for empowering rural women in online news reporting. Furthermore, the study found that changes in the ruling government have impacted how news portrays the empowerment of rural women, particularly in relation to their representation in politics. As a result, the media tends to emphasize the benefits that rural women receive in social theme news. This study contributes to the understanding of Media Framing Theory and the Women and Development (WAD) approach. One legal solution for removing unsafe structures and making room for new developments is strata subdivision termination. In this process, the share unit, which determines an owner's contribution to building upkeep and voting rights, plays a vital role in decision-making. However, conflicts arise regarding the entitlements of share units, particularly in mixed-use developments. The current share unit formula lacks differentiation for limited access and benefits for certain parcel proprietors, resulting in potential prejudice and unfairness in the payment of maintenance fees. This review paper delves into the significance of share units in the context of strata subdivision termination and redevelopment in Malaysia and Singapore. Both Malaysia and Singapore calculate share units based on the floor area. However, their formulas differ in certain aspects. Unlike in other countries, Malaysia’s share unit’s entitlement does not determine ownership rights over the common property. Additionally, the termination of a subdivision requires a unanimous resolution, excluding invalid votes, and the share unit's significance regarding property value and compensation during acquisition is minimal. This article has been created using the qualitative approach, combining information gathered from dependable and pertinent statutes, books, journals, articles, case law, and seminar papers. In order to prevent the spread of the disease, a shift from face-to-face lectures to online lectures has taken place. Additionally, the present examination system approach has been changed online to benefit those in need. The objective of this article is to explore the examination results of Accounting Faculty students who took the course “Introduction to Partnership and Company Law”, which is code LAW346. The analysis of the examination results is based on two categories: (i) online exam result during the Covid-19 outbreak and (ii) face-to-face exam result during post-Covid-19 outbreak. The achievement of “A” grades for face-to-face examinations during the post-Covid-19 outbreak exhibited a trend of reduction as compared to the achievement of online examinations during the Covid-19 outbreak. This article employs qualitative legal research methods such as literature review and descriptive study.
