This study aims to identify the factors shaping trust and how perceived risks moderate these relationships. Design/methodology/approach Using a mixed-methods approach, thirty qualitative interviews conducted in Austria, Romania and Spain identified four key antecedents of trust: trust in the Internet, trust in the community of internet users, trust in the provider and trust in the information system. A follow-up survey of 1,200 respondents tested the impact of these antecedents and the moderating role of perceived risks (identity theft and financial loss) on trust formation. Findings Results show that all antecedents, specifically performance expectancy, transparency, social influence and safety, significantly related to their respective trust targets, and that trust relationships are interdependent across targets. Risk perceptions strengthen the influence of performance expectancy and social influence but weaken the effect of transparency. Originality/value The study contributes to research on trust in digital data wallets by empirically applying and extending the application network-of-trust model to the context of decentralized personal data management. The findings demonstrate that the trust formation is differentiated across multiple trust targets and shaped by context-specific antecedents and perceived risks. The study also provides actionable insights for designers and policymakers seeking to build trustworthy digital data wallets.","PeriodicalId":47889,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Enterprise Information Management","volume":"51 1","pages":"1-28"},"PeriodicalIF":6.5,"publicationDate":"2026-08-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148899328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, rapid digitalisation is transforming traditional supply chains. Although numerous studies have examined digital technologies or SCRes independently, limited attention has been given to the reciprocal interrelationships among digital technologies and SCRes dimensions. Given the interconnected nature of digital technologies and the multidimensional characteristics of SCRes, examining these reciprocal interrelationships is essential for capturing their collective influence. Therefore, this study aims to identify the digital technologies that influence SCRes and examine their interrelationships with the dimensions of SCRes, thereby clarifying the relative roles and influence of both digital technologies and SCRes dimensions in strengthening more resilient and sustainable supply chains. Design/methodology/approach We conducted a structured literature review (SLR) and consulted a hybrid panel of seven academic and industry experts to identify the key dimensions of SCRes and the digital technologies influencing them. We then worked with experts to prioritise these factors using the analytic network process (ANP), an extension of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) that is well-suited to modelling the strong interdependencies and feedback relationships among digital technologies and SCRes dimensions. Data were collected in both 2023 and 2025 from the same experts to capture the changes in expert judgements over time. Findings We found that collaboration and Internet-of-Things (IoT) have exerted the strongest relative influence on SCRes. In particular, collaboration becomes the highest priority factor overall, whereas IoT is the highest priority digital technology within the proposed decision framework. Visibility and velocity follow as the next most influential resilience dimensions, while AI and blockchain, although lower ranked, exhibit increasing relative influence across the two assessment periods. We also argue that no single digital technology on its own is sufficient to achieve supply chain resilience. Successful adoption and implementation require an understanding of how these technologies mutually interact with SCRes dimensions. By explicitly accounting for these interdependencies, the proposed decision framework prioritises both digital technologies and SCRes dimensions according to their relative influence on supply chain resilience, providing practical guidance for organisations seeking to strengthen resilience. Originality/value This study advances the SCRes literature by proposing an integrated ANP-based framework that models the interdependencies and feedback relationships between digital technologies and SCRes dimensions. Drawing on Resource Orchestration Theory (ROT), it explores the organizational mechanisms through which DTT contributes to OME, focusing on information transparency (IT) and collaborative decision-making (CDM), and examines organizational digital readiness (ODR) as a contextual condition shaping the DTT–OME relationship. Design/methodology/approach The study adopts a quantitative research design using survey data collected from 313 construction professionals. Data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling to test the hypothesized relationships, and necessary condition analysis was used to assess critical enabling factors. The model evaluates direct, mediating, and moderating effects among DTT, IT, CDM, OME, and ODR. Findings Results reveal that DTT has a significant positive effect on OME and strongly enhances both IT and CDM. IT exerts the greatest influence on OME, while CDM contributes as a complementary factor. Both IT and CDM mediate the relationship between DTT and OME, indicating that operational improvements occur through enhanced information visibility and coordinated decision-making. ODR significantly moderates the DTT–OME relationship in a negative direction. Although this finding is contrary to the hypothesized positive moderation, the effect suggests that the marginal operational contribution of DTT may diminish as baseline digital readiness increases, potentially reflecting overlapping digital capabilities, integration complexity, and established organizational routines. Originality/value This study examines how DTT improves operational efficiency in construction by enhancing IT and CDM. Rather than treating DTT adoption as an end in itself, the study focuses on the pathway through which continuously synchronized digital information is transformed into organizational mechanisms that support construction operations. It further identifies ODR as a boundary condition that shapes the marginal value of DTT. By focusing on fragmented information flows, temporary organizational structures, and multi-stakeholder coordination, the study provides a construction-specific explanation of digital twin value creation.","PeriodicalId":47889,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Enterprise Information Management","volume":"14 1","pages":"1-44"},"PeriodicalIF":6.5,"publicationDate":"2026-08-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148899329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper examines how metaverse capabilities can be orchestrated to support preparedness, response, recovery and learning in transportation and logistics networks. Design/methodology/approach A two-phase study was conducted. Phase 1 undertook a systematic literature review (Scopus and Web of Science, 2015–2024) and applied structural topic modelling to identify metaverse-enabling crisis mechanisms. Phase 2 conducted semi-structured expert interviews (n = 11) and analysed them using thematic analysis. Evidence from both phases was integrated to recontextualise the metaverse SCOM framework to the Metaverse Crisis Management Framework. Findings The analysis extends the seven interdependent framework components (people, organisation, management, technology, modelling, scope and task) and specifies crisis mechanisms including shared situational awareness, scenario stress-testing, governed data integration, coordinated resource allocation and multi-stakeholder decision-making. It consolidates current knowledge, proposes an integrative framework to guide research and practice, and identifies gaps that can guide scholarly inquiry in this emergent domain. Design/methodology/approach A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted. A total of 38 relevant articles were identified through initial screening and forward–backward search. These were analyzed via concept-centric coding and synthesized into thematic clusters. The insights were used to develop a business-oriented, comprehensive framework integrating design, engagement, value and ethical considerations for responsible metaverse gamification. Findings Four thematic clusters were identified: (1) Design and Mechanics, highlighting game elements (e.g. avatars, narratives, feedback systems) that promote immersion and flow; (2) Business and Consumer Engagement, showing how gamification influences affective and cognitive engagement, loyalty and purchase intentions; (3) Business Value, demonstrating how gamified experiences generate economic, relational and strategic benefits and (4) Ethics, Policy and Societal Impact, underscoring risks including data misuse, manipulation and inequitable access. Drawing on these themes, the article introduces the “GAMIFY” framework, synthesizing these dimensions for gamification in the metaverse. Research limitations/implications The review is limited to peer-reviewed, English-language publications and excludes gray literature, yielding a focused corpus of 38 studies that reflects the emerging state of metaverse-specific gamification research. Given the predominance of consumer-facing contexts in the reviewed literature, GAMIFY's applicability across all sectors should be interpreted with these boundaries in mind. The framework offers a structured research roadmap and opens avenues for longitudinal, ethically informed and cross-industry studies that would refine and validate it across diverse metaverse ecosystems. Practical implications GAMIFY gives managers an actionable diagnostic for turning gamified metaverse engagement into sustainable business value, reframing immersive design from a set of engagement tactics into a coherent strategic architecture. By aligning goals, mechanics and metrics while pairing Fair Governance with Yield-focused evaluation, it shifts attention from surface metrics to high-impact outcomes such as customer lifetime value and skill mastery, providing a structured basis for ethical, scalable and measurable gamification in the metaverse. Originality/value This is the first systematic review to integrate insights on gamification design and business value in the context of the metaverse. The article contributes a novel framework for responsible, value-driven metaverse gamification (GAMIFY) and a future research agenda.","PeriodicalId":47889,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Enterprise Information Management","volume":"9 1","pages":"1-28"},"PeriodicalIF":6.5,"publicationDate":"2026-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148899334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach Integrating the job demands–resources theory, we theorize four value perceptions of GAI, functional, epistemic, conditional and emotional, as distinct socio-cognitive cues from which employees infer perceived insider status. A cross-sectional survey design was employed using a structured questionnaire administered to employees across multiple industries where GAI is embedded in daily work practices. The final sample consisted of 298 valid responses, and the proposed relationships were tested using covariance-based structural equation modeling, including mediation and moderation analyses. Findings We found that emotional value is positively associated with perceived insider status, conditional value is negatively associated with perceived insider status, and functional and epistemic value show no direct associations. Perceived insider status predicts greater knowledge sharing, which in turn is linked to stronger commitment, more citizenship behavior, deeper identification and lower alienation. Knowledge of artificial intelligence strengthens the associations of functional and emotional value with perceived insider status, and weakens the association of conditional value with perceived insider status. Originality/value The findings re-orient technology value theorizing toward socioemotional inclusion, identify perceived insider status as a proximal mechanism connecting everyday GAI experiences to cooperative behavior, and specify knowledge of artificial intelligence as a capability amplifier that shapes how value cues are read as signals of membership. Practical guidance follows for embedding GAI in routine workflows, investing in literacy and designing for emotionally positive user experiences.","PeriodicalId":47889,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Enterprise Information Management","volume":"18 1","pages":"1-24"},"PeriodicalIF":6.5,"publicationDate":"2026-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148899335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It examines how technological, organizational and environmental conditions are translated into blockchain adoption through cognitive evaluations of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative design was employed using survey data from 479 employees in financial institutions. The proposed model was tested through structural equation modeling (SEM), enabling the examination of direct, indirect and sequential mediation effects among TOE dimensions, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and blockchain adoption. Findings Blockchain adoption is explained primarily by perceived usefulness, while perceived ease of use influences adoption directly and indirectly through usefulness. Contextual factors do not act as uniform predictors but are filtered through usability and value-based paths before adoption occurs. Technological and organizational factors operate through differentiated perceptual pathways: perceived financial benefits and information security strongly enhance usefulness, whereas complexity mainly reduces ease of use. Among environmental factors, partner readiness exerts a stronger effect on adoption than competitive pressure. The results also support a sequential perceived ease-of-use–perceived-usefulness–adoption mechanism across TOE dimensions. Originality/value The study moves beyond additive TOE–TAM integration by establishing a theoretical chain that explains blockchain adoption as a multistage process. It contributes by providing evidence of a sequential ease-of-use–usefulness–adoption mechanism and by showing that, in financial institutions, TAM operates hierarchically rather than symmetrically, with usefulness emerging as the primary adoption mechanism.","PeriodicalId":47889,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Enterprise Information Management","volume":"32 1","pages":"1-35"},"PeriodicalIF":6.5,"publicationDate":"2026-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148899336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study focuses on how information visibility, traceability, compliance control and data integrity can support more effective procurement decisions in a pharmaceutical cold-chain setting. Design/methodology/approach A comprehensive evaluation structure was established based on five main-criteria and fifteen sub-criteria. Expert judgments were analyzed using Pythagorean Fuzzy Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (PF-SWARA) to determine criteria weights, while alternative strategies were ranked through Pythagorean Fuzzy Measurement of Alternatives and Ranking according to Compromise Solution (PF-MARCOS). Findings The findings show that safety is the most important main criterion, while patient safety, product integrity and cold-chain continuity are the most influential sub-criteria. Among the alternatives, digital traceability and real-time alerts ranked first, followed by stricter cold chain auditing and compliance assurance. Practical implications The proposed framework can support managers in pharmaceutical chains by helping them prioritize information-enabled procurement strategies that improve monitoring, compliance, responsiveness and decision quality across enterprise and supply chain processes. Originality/value The originality of the study lies primarily in its integrative and context-specific contribution. The study applies and combines established PF-SWARA and PF-MARCOS methods within an underexplored decision problem, namely the selection of procurement-oriented risk mitigation strategies in pharmaceutical cold chains. By linking the pharmaceutical cold-chain context, procurement-risk perspective and enterprise information-management logic associated with traceability, real-time alerts, compliance control and data integrity, the study offers a focused decision-support contribution for a practically important but insufficiently examined setting.","PeriodicalId":47889,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Enterprise Information Management","volume":"51 1","pages":"1-36"},"PeriodicalIF":6.5,"publicationDate":"2026-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148899339","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Drawing on the stress–strain–outcome (SSO) framework, supported by cognitive load theory (CLT), the study explains how task, technology and organizational demands translate into cognitive strain and discontinuance. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional survey of 460 knowledge workers was analyzed using covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM). The model incorporates task-level, technology-level and organizational-level stressors; identifies cognitive overload and decision fatigue as parallel strains; and specifies GenAI discontinuance intention as the outcome. Findings All stressors positively relate to cognitive overload and decision fatigue except content governance, which showed no significant effect on decision fatigue. Cognitive overload emerged as a significant factor while mapping decision fatigue, and both strains significantly contributed to GenAI Discontinuance Intention. Practical implications To achieve the sustainable use of GenAI, policymakers and facilitators should minimize task complexity, limit time-related pressures and implement measures that lower the risk of hallucination. They should also provide templates and establish standard operating procedures to minimize perceived overload and fatigue. Design/methodology/approach We collected multi-stage data from 214 respondents in manufacturing firms using a structured questionnaire. A hybrid approach of structural equation modelling and ordinary least squares hierarchical linear regression was employed to analyse the data and assess the robustness of the proposed hypotheses. Findings The findings confirm that I4.0 technologies have a significantly positive impact on TLP, HLP and OP. Moreover, HLP and TLP have similar effects on TLP and OP, respectively. Additionally, TLP, HLP and OP significantly positively influence SP. All of the proposed moderations (except I4.0 × HLP impact on SP) and mediated paths are significant. Lastly, certain control variables such as firm size, firm type and duration of lean implementation significantly affect OP and SP. Practical implications This research holds significant practical implications by enhancing the comprehension of lean processes, thereby aiding managers in crafting a strategic roadmap for the implementation of HLP to embrace lean methodologies and enhance both OP and SP efficiently. In light of the impending 5th industrial revolution, our findings underscore the indispensability of HLP in harnessing the benefits of forthcoming technological advancements, particularly within the realm of I4.0, and leveraging them to elevate both OP and SP to new heights. Originality/value Departing from conventional research approaches, the study underscores the substantial impact of contingencies on endogenous variables, lending robust support to the contingency theory. Anchored in the principles of the resource orchestration theory, the findings elucidate that the isolated deployment of technology may not yield significant results. Instead, the integration of I4.0 with lean practices is important, serving as an orchestrated mechanism to propel organisational goals to fruition.","PeriodicalId":47889,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Enterprise Information Management","volume":"37 1","pages":"1-34"},"PeriodicalIF":6.5,"publicationDate":"2026-08-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"148899343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
