This is due to the excessive vibration exerted by the rotors on the pilot's seat, which is absorbed by the pilot's spine, and the posture adopted by the pilot during the flight due to the layout of the controls. Air forces from various countries such as Israel, Sweden, England, among others, have considered low back pain to be a primary health problem in airmen and admit that this type of problem is detrimental to flight safety, given that the pain acts throughout the flight and can appear at a level that distracts the pilot. The aim of this study was to clarify the incidence of pain and discomfort among rotary-wing pilots in the Brazilian Air Force. To help carry out the study, an online questionnaire with multiple-choice, scale and full answer questions was used, answered by 124 aviation officers belonging to the Brazilian Air Force. Corroborating previous research in this area, we identified that the main discomforts are related to the position of piloting the aircraft, mainly located in the region of the spine. Most of this discomfort lasts from a few minutes to a few hours. The main preventative methods used by helicopter pilots are related to strength training. Thus, we can infer the awareness of pilots and authorities of the importance of physical exercise, thus inferring an important preventive measure.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"17 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140430251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This marks a significant progression from the pioneering activities initiated with Sputnik in 1957. The Moon, followed by Mars and selected asteroids, will serve as the new frontier for human civilization, facilitating the transformation into a multiplanetary society. The exploration and development of these celestial bodies will necessitate the creation of new equipment, spaceships, and vehicles that are not only efficient but also cost effective, enabling rapid progress in our expansion into space. In this context, the Ring a proposed vehicle consisting of a lander and a container emerges as a potential solution to meet these evolving requirements. This article outlines the concept of the Ring and its potential role as an ideal solution for a cruiser feeder space transportation system, addressing the needs of future space exploration endeavors.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"90 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140460433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to instruct the aviators to identify conditions that expose them to this pathology in order to make their instructions at the Air Force Academy (AFA This study aims to measure the level of consciousness of the cadets on the subject, the recurrence of conditions that lead to the emergence of barotraumas, and the preventive measures used. A questionnaire with seven questions about barotrauma knowledge was applied to a sample of 40 Cadet Aviators of the second Squadron in 2023. All these cadets were conducting the Air training course when they answered the questionnaire. All were questioned as to their knowledge of barotrauma, symptoms, procedures for relief and treatment. The results showed that although cadets have broad knowledge on the subject, and more than half of those questioned admit to performing instructional flights in non-ideal health conditions. This behavior, besides greatly increasing the risk of occurrence of a barotrauma, shows that a preventive culture is not being cultivated in the cadets. It is necessary to reaffirm the dangers of a barotrauma during the training of cadets who are going to begin flight instruction. Cadet awareness of pathologies involving air activity is important to everyone, as it is, a matter of flight safety.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"24 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138984206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They have potential for revolutionary change in a nation’s armed forces and defence industries. In the same time frame, another new technology is emerging in the form of cheap drones replacing manned aircraft. Both of these new technologies are assessed in terms of their likely impact on military forces and defence industries. Augustine weapons systems are defined and their substitution effects are identified. There will be opposite effects on industry output, with costly Augustine systems bought in smaller quantities and cheap drones in larger volumes. Evidence is presented on cost escalation for a sample of UK fighter aircraft.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"159 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135974166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In people with high altitude disorder, the body reaction to high altitudes starts with the formation of a protein called hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF), which triggers a series of other physiological changes and plays a central role in the hypoxia response; its activity is regulated by the oxygen-dependent degradation of the HIF-1α protein. This deserving condition provides an opportunity to study the effect of low oxygen tension of flying at high altitude that could lead to hypoxia using hypoxia sensor.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135781563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disruptions started over an initial period of six days in April 2010. About 20 countries closed their airspace to commercial jet traffic and it affected approximately 10 million travelers. Volcanic ash has been caused grounding of many aircraft as a source of possible damage to aircraft engines. The projected technical strategy, an electrostatic precipitator (ESP), was tailored for the high bypass turbofan engine model PW4000 in this study. It was based on the standard two-stage ESP but designed with the PW4000 engine. The innovative ESP prototype is primarily made up of a hexagram structure of six discharge electrode plates and three circular collecting electrode rings. An aerodynamic verification was conducted through computational fluid design (CFD). It built a 20-meter wind tunnel and placed the engine with ESP in the centre of it. A particle-laden atmosphere was created in the simulation using a discrete phase model (DPM) to replicate volcanic ash injection into clean air. From the results, it has a clear aerodynamic impact near the engine's intake, although the effect is small and may be ignored after the engine fans. Additionally, a CFD electrostatic verification was generated with a voltage of 20000 V, and the contour of the electric potential is perfect distributed, suggesting that an electric field can be adequately given by this ESP configuration design. Therefore, the simulation results of the new ESP layout would have allowed drawing conclusions about the electrostatic filter's ability to reduce volcanic ash intake in an engine with high aerodynamic performance.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135924733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, ground-based experiments include three major sectors: projectile launch, impact monitoring including shock wave and debris cloud formation imaging, and finally result processing. For ground-based hypervelocity impact tests, various acceleration techniques such as light two and three-stage gas guns, plasma accelerators, electrostatic accelerators, and shaped charge accelerators have been used. This paper will primarily focus on those that are most relevant to current research on hypervelocity tests and would improve current research in the field of hypervelocity impact tests on composite material for primary satellite structures.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135594582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
