This project aims to offer insights into drone development, enhancing its efficiency by means of rotor optimization utilizing well-established theoretical models based on blade element momentum theory for estimating thrust generation and power requirements at hover and forward flight. The impact on performance of chord and airfoils pitch angle, particularly focusing on the twist, which is how pitch changes along the blade, is analyzed, followed by optimizations of multiple chord and twist distributions at different flight conditions. Additionally, Computational fluid dynamics tools are employed to simulate resulting rotor geometries and to the baseline. Simulations and model predict power reductions of 3% to 17%, with negative twist rates and increased platform as main characteristics of most efficient geometries.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"56 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141808349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is the first study to suggest heavy metals from satellites, debris, & rockets are correlated to Inner Radiation Belt (IRB), South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) and Ozone hole and to propose the North Atlantic Anomaly (NAA). After high temperature corrosion (HTC) for <45 min sunward in Low Earth Orbit (up to 125C or 270F) and during re-entry, metals (Al, Fe,Mn,Ce,Pb) from satellites become ionized with high charges(+3,+2) and form metal oxides such as (Al2O3, Fe2O3,etc), metal hydroxides(Al(OH)n, Mn(OH)n, etc) until deposition as oxides, sulfides, and silicates. For example, after big reentry events such as 75-ton Skylab EDL fell to Earth in 1979, McConnell et al.,1 recorded 40X increase in metals such as Al, Pb in ice in Antarctica with other studies finding Pb of 1000X+ and Cd of 10X+ in 1980s. If SAA 3D Vortex and Radiation Belt co-located at ~200-500 km with trapped ionized particles and metals, heavy and light ion fluxes near poles would form metal oxides, ozone hole and reduce magnetic B-field, which may have formed largest ozone holes measured. Similar to how CFC atoms react with ozone, this study discusses how transition metals are a primary factor contributing to ozone depletion, metal oxides & silicates formation, observed in South America and Antarctica, which coincides with widespread desertification, extinctions, and warming. If metals from satellites in SAA deposit to poles with 2-16X heat absorption capacity to melt ice and radiation over poles, this could be a primary force melting ice in Polar Regions.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"55 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141810729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Water is essential for sustaining human presence, and while it may hint at the possibility of ancient life forms, its primary importance lies in supporting future human settlements on Mars. The location of these future settlements will be heavily dependent on the presence of water, limiting the choice to a few sites with underground ice deposits. However, we must also consider alternative locations that, although not close to water sources, may offer other advantages. In such cases, we should explore the possibility of constructing a network of aqueducts to supply water to these locations, originating from a central extraction point near the South Pole. Depending on the design criteria, this aqueduct system could be developed as a versatile infrastructure capable of expansion. In the future, it could be upgraded into an advanced transportation network, utilizing maglev-powered vehicles to connect Martian settlements and facilitate movement across the planet. This infrastructure would address immediate needs such as water supply while also supporting long-term development plans for Mars.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"8 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141834176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Within the framework of this theory, an equation of the Universe was obtained, covering all categories of processes occurring in it, and a new law of gravity applicable to the cosmic vacuum. This law predicts the existence of gravitational forces of attraction and repulsion, gravitational equilibrium and “supergravity,” which allows the universe to function forever without being in equilibrium. The theory explains the nature of the evolution of the Universe, which is incompatible with thermodynamics, and a number of mysteries of its behavior, including the flow of matter from galaxy to galaxy, libration, the anomalous behavior of “space probes”, the observed nature of the rotational curves of galaxies, the existence of “gravitational wells”, the size of its “black holes”, revealing their role as “factories” of matter in it. Data from astronomical observations confirming the validity of the theory are presented.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"127 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141656658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although multiple methods have been developed to derive airdata from the sensed pressure matrix, all methods rely on accurate knowledge of local surface contours at the port locations. One of the most well-developed solution methods curve-fits the surface pressure distribution against the associated surface incidence angles using a quasi-Newtonian model. The well-known \"Triples\" algorithm extracts airdata from the curve-fit model. This solution method requires precise knowledge of as-installed incidence angles, i.e. the angles between the surface normal and the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. This study investigates the feasibility and accuracy of using an inexpensive optical-scanning system to measure the in-situ FADS pressure ports surface incidence angles. Here, two legacy 3-D printed probe shapes, as previously tested during a series of very low-speed wind tunnel tests, were used to develop and evaluate this method. The shapes 1) a hemispherical head cylindrical forebody, and 2) a Rankine-Body, were scanned along the longitudinal axis and the resulting point-cloud was edited using open-source software to generate three concentric \"loops\" surrounding each surface port. Each annular loop was assumed as co-planar with the surface port, and the singular-value decomposition (SVD) was used calculate the local surface gradient vector from the null-space solution. From the resulting gradient vector, geometric relationships calculate the port's polar coordinates including the surface incidence angle. For both body contours the resulting calculations are compared to the \"known\" design surface angles as prescribed for the 3-D prints. Error plots are presented for each individual ring-set, and for the collected set using all three ring together. For the collected data sets, the incidence angle calculations are accurate to within a quarter-degree.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140262268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is based on the replacement to A380 solid winglet. The results reveal that maximising these parameters doesn’t always minimise drag; rather, a balance needs to be found to achieve optimal efficiency. The study demonstrates a potential maximum reduction of 3.81%, often linked with a decrease in lift. The optimal design is a single rectangular slot injecting at 260 m/s, exhibiting lower lift reduction than drag reduction and high efficiency. Thus, currently, there isn’t a significant advantage justifying a paradigm shift for these devices.","PeriodicalId":474325,"journal":{"name":"Aeronautics and aerospace open access journal","volume":"16 24","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140083616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
