This was a correlational study of structural equation modeling type. 285 women were selected using simple random sampling. The data were analyzed using the path analysis method. Results showed that SH, PsyCap, and PE have a significant positive relationship with QOL. Besides, PE could play a mediating role between PsyCap and QOL, but its mediating role between SH and QOL was not confirmed.","PeriodicalId":47263,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Family Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42247839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A systemic review was conducted on how family therapy is discussed in the literature on incarceration using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The search yield 194 articles with only 27 meeting criteria and being fully reviewed. This review magnifies the lack of family therapy inclusion in the literature concerning criminology and criminal justice. There is a lack of family therapists employed in incarcerated settings which emulates the absence of literature. The goal of this paper is to shed light on this issue and to call for more research that includes family therapy in the discussion surrounding incarceration.","PeriodicalId":47263,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Family Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-02-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47341727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mental health professionals have seen an alarming increase in anxiety, depression, and suicidality during the COVID-19 pandemic. Adolescents face the challenge of differentiating from their families, and often place increased focus and importance on their peer group. Given the increased isolation, this paper illustrates how Satir’s therapy model can be used by therapists who treat adolescents and their families related to COVID-19 specific stressors. Specifically, this paper will examine how Satir’s focus on how self-worth, communication, and holistic approaches, are uniquely beneficial to treatment.","PeriodicalId":47263,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Family Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45989793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This population has been marginalized within society. Social inequalities and health care disparities are discussed in relation to the role played in receiving adequate care for SCD. Using an intergenerational perspective with the integration of a focused genogram, one can conceptualize and evaluate the intergenerational transmission of caregiving behaviors experienced with SCD. Family therapists can support and advocate for the family unit by better understanding SCD. Lastly, implications and further research are addressed.","PeriodicalId":47263,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Family Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44177418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data were collected using personal information forms and the Violence Tendency Scale. Experimental group were given 8-session anger management training. Control group was not exposed to any training. Students in the experimental group showed a significant decrease in Violence Tendency Scale scores. Anger management training is considered to be effective in decreasing students’ tendencies to violence. It is very important to improve students’ attitudes regarding preventing violence.","PeriodicalId":47263,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Family Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49448796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a cross-sectional, 385 pregnant women completed three questionnaires including Family APGAR, Symptom Checklist-25 (SCL-25), and Fear of COVID-19. The family function was a significant negative predictor of psychological distress. The findings highlight the role of family function in mental health of pregnant women during pandemic of COVID-19. The results suggest that educating women, their family, and health care providers about the benefits of enhancing family function may facilitate reduction of psychological distress of pregnant women.","PeriodicalId":47263,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Family Therapy","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43563368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
