The data used for the study were obtained from CBN statistical bulletin and National Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria on the variables such as the number of SMEs in Nigeria (NSMES), Commercial Banks Credit to SMEs (CBSME), SMEs employment generation (SMEEG) and interest rate (INTRT). Since the data for the variables are time series which are always not stationary, the test of staionarity was conducted using Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test. ARDL Bounds test for co-integration was employed to check the long run relationship while Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) technique was employed to estimate the parameters of the model. From the results of the regression, some variables such as NSMES, CBSME and INTRT have positive impact on the economic growth while SMEEG has negative impact on economic growth in Nigeria in the short run. The result further shows that only NSMES has significant impact on economic growth, while CBSME, SMEEG and INTRT are insignificant. The study therefore, recommends that government should create enabling environments for the SMEs to thrive well. Also, commercial banks should encourage financial inclusion, that is, SMEs should be given easy access to loans. This can go a long way to help investors to bring their ideas into reality.","PeriodicalId":470186,"journal":{"name":"International journal of research and innovation in social science","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136202101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific objectives are to assess the effectiveness of BVN in fraud detection and prevention and identify challenges facing its implementation. Descriptive and regression analyses were conducted using data from respondents in the Nigerian banking sector. The R-squared value of 0.613 infers that all the identified factors account for 61.3% of the variation in BVN’s ability to prevent fraud in Nigerian banks, while the F-statistic diagnosing the fitness of the model shows that all t.he independent variables are statistically significant (F=55.203) for the model this implied that the majority of respondents view BVN as an effective tool in preventing and detecting fraud. Bank-related factors such as average customer size, total deposit, and staff strength significantly influence BVN’s efficacy in fraud prevention. However, The R-squared value of 0.517 infers that all the identified factors account for 51.7% of the variation in challenges facing implementation of BVN in Nigerian banking industry, while the F-statistic diagnosing the fitness of the model shows that all the independent variables are statistically significant (F=37.268) for the model this implied that challenges such as lack of cooperation among financial institutions and poor regulatory performance hinder BVN implementation. Therefore, study recommended that include strengthening BVN implementation, addressing challenges, conducting awareness programs, and continuously monitoring bank-related factors to enhance fraud prevention measures. Collaboration and further research are also recommended to improve BVN’s effectiveness in fraud prevention.","PeriodicalId":470186,"journal":{"name":"International journal of research and innovation in social science","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135749077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, educational system has transitioned from traditional face-to-face classes to online classes. The primary goal of this research is to provide a comprehensive review of the impact of online learning on A/L students’ performance in the Kolonnawa educational division. Quantitative descriptive analysis, chi-square test and binary regression analysis were applied to the data acquired via structured questionnaire from A/L students in the Kolonnawa educational division to address the research questions. As the sample, 269 A/L students were selected. According to the findings, students’ participation, technology, expectations, ease of use, internet facility and stress are significantly associated with student’s performance. According to the results of the chi-square statistics, Students’ participation, instructor quality, course design, students’ expectations, technology, ease of use, and examination procedure had a significant association with the student’s performance. Moreover, students need help with online classes. The biggest problem they faced was the power cuts during the online courses. To improve Sri Lanka’s new standard education system, the study’s overall recommendations include organising seminars, training on new technologies, and awareness activities for educational stakeholders, providing incentives to purchase digital devices, and enhancing internet access. In addition, the results of the binary model demonstrate that when all variables are considered concurrently, the predictor variables identified as students’ participation, technology, expectations, ease of use, internet facility and stress are significantly associated with student’s performance.","PeriodicalId":470186,"journal":{"name":"International journal of research and innovation in social science","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135953980","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objectives of the study were twofold: first, to investigate the socio-cultural factors that contribute to the prevalence of early marriages in the community, and second, to examine the impact of early marriages on marital stability. The study employed in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with community members particularly those who experienced early marriage and divorced to collect comprehensive insights. Khatiamari Village was selected due to its high divorce rate, making it an intriguing subject for investigation. The study found that poverty and economic insecurity significantly influence parents’ decisions to arrange early marriages for their children. They perceived early marriage as a means to alleviate financial burdens and secure economic stability for their daughters, perpetuating a cycle of inequality and hindering progress in disadvantaged areas. Economic hardships and traditional gender role expectations within early marriages also strain relationships, affecting overall marital stability and well-being. The implications of early marriages were far-reaching, with young couples facing challenges such as emotional immaturity, limited life experience, and inadequate coping skills, leading to unresolved issues and potential divorce. Additionally, early marriages often resulting adverse health outcomes for young girls who became mothers at an early age, further exacerbating the cycle of poverty. The study underscored the urgent need for comprehensive interventions that prioritize education, vocational training, and sustainable livelihood programs to empower women and break the cycle of poverty. This research sheds light on early marriages and increasing divorce rates in Khatiamari Village and similar areas. It emphasizes the need for sustainable solutions to foster a healthier, more inclusive community, enabling individuals to thrive and make positive contributions to their families and society.","PeriodicalId":470186,"journal":{"name":"International journal of research and innovation in social science","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135954963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was formed to promote unity among the various Christian denominations in the country, it has not been able to achieve its goal. Through the millennia, Mark 9:38-40 has been used to support official and unofficial ecumenism and religious dialogue activities. This study aims to investigate Jesus’ synoptic utterances, combining redaction-critical and socio-historical analysis to re-present the interpretations of such New Testament echoes of what Jesus expects of the Church of our day. The exegesis of the text is founded on two major assumptions: first, pluralistic expressions were remnants of Christianity before 70 AD. Second, such diverse representations must be understood in their biblical canonical context, as well as in relation to later early Church efforts to streamline theology and ecclesial institutions. If successful, these must also point the way forward in the quest for Christian unity and peaceful coexistence, but we may need to reinterpret the purposes of ecumenism and dialogue.","PeriodicalId":470186,"journal":{"name":"International journal of research and innovation in social science","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136008267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article shares findings from the study objective to assess the effect of student confidence on achievement in mathematics. The descriptive survey research design on a sample size of 250 students used a mathematics confidence questionnaire and mathematics achievement test to collect quantitative data. The computational formula of the Pearson`s product moment correlation coefficient determined the null hypothesis, “there is no statistically significant relationship between student confidence and achievement in mathematics.” The study found a statistically significant positive correlation coefficient of between student confidence and achievement in mathematics. This implies that student confidence is directly proportional to achievement in mathematics. However, analysis based on gender differences contradicts the stereotype that males are always more confident than females. Males in mixed-boarding and mixed-day secondary schools indicated more belief than females, unlike in single-sex boarding secondary schools, where both genders showed similar belief towards mathematics. The study recommends mathematics teachers to guide students through solving mathematics problems for them to develop self-confidence for better achievement since student confidence is directly proportional to achievement in mathematics.","PeriodicalId":470186,"journal":{"name":"International journal of research and innovation in social science","volume":"125 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135494643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the capacity of the affected secondary schools is limited due to paucity of student’s disaster risk reduction awareness. The study endeavoured to assess the level of student disaster risk reduction awareness in secondary schools in Kisumu County. The study grounded on Planned Behaviour and Disaster Preparedness theory while adopting a descriptive research design. A sample size of 86 out of 172 public secondary schools was used. All principals from sampled schools were selected. Also, 172 students comprising of 2 student leaders, one Head of Department from each selected schools were sampled totalling to 86, and 4 ministry of education officials from Kenya School of Curriculum Development were purposively sampled. Data was collected using questionnaires and observation schedule. Qualitative data collected was put under themes consistent with the research objective. Quantitative data was coded and entered in the computer for analysis using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27. Descriptive statistics such as percentages, means and frequencies were used to analyse the data. The study revealed that there was no disaster risk reduction and resilience in current curricula in secondary school. Students lacked capacity to respond to disasters in secondary schools in Kisumu County since they lacked disaster management training. The study recommends formulation of effective and practical disaster syllabi, alongside specialized training for teachers who would be delivering DRR education which builds on students’ existing knowledge and experience by developing additional competencies needed for effective disaster management. Rehearsal drills in disaster preparedness must be done in secondary schools by students since it re-emphases points made in separate training programs and test the systems as a whole and invariably revealing several gaps that otherwise might have been overlooked.","PeriodicalId":470186,"journal":{"name":"International journal of research and innovation in social science","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135496220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
