The purpose of this performance and script was to make sense of our identities and experiences as students and academics. Our script and performance outlined the relationship between experiential difference and connection. Due to this fact, in this project, we turn to Crenshaw’s conceptualization of intersectionality and Lorde’s conceptualization of difference to analyze how our script and performance. In doing so, we concluded that performance-based methodologies are a key site of collective resistance and empowerment.","PeriodicalId":46504,"journal":{"name":"Text and Performance Quarterly","volume":"43 1","pages":"258 - 260"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49104649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As feminist scholar-pedagogues, we investigate lived experiences that privilege pedagogical performances of joy, where effective instruction becomes conflated with the transmission of happiness through, for example, a smile. As critical communication pedagogues, however, we remain skeptical of our smiles – what they ask of us and what they take – realizing that the happiness landscape often exacerbates oppressive hierarchies of a white supremacist, hetero-patriarchy.","PeriodicalId":46504,"journal":{"name":"Text and Performance Quarterly","volume":"43 1","pages":"233 - 239"},"PeriodicalIF":0.5,"publicationDate":"2023-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43525262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
