Notwithstanding, its capacity to contribute to regional development and achieve equitable distribution of benefits has been limited. This research analyses the characteristics of current tourism activity, and governance processes that influence tourism management in the South Coast region of the state of Jalisco, Mexico, where the main offer is 3S‑tourism. The resource exploitation in the area has generated natural disasters, loss of identity, territorial privatisation, and social conflicts among other problems. Governance processes were studied using the Governance Analytical Framework (GAF) as a tool to systematise the social, political, and institutional complexity of the formulation,and implementation of collective decision processes. It was found that there are governmental strategies related to the gover‑ nance of tourism, however, they have not contributed to development in an articulated manner. At the local level, the Stakeholders have been able to adopt governance processes for tourism management. However, governance processes based on government strategies have made inclusive tourism management difficult.","PeriodicalId":45968,"journal":{"name":"Pasos-Revista de Turismo y Patrimonio Cultural","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73217454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The French approach to discourse analysis was used as a conceptual frame‑ work and technique. Specifically, the discursive and ideological formations were identified from the catego‑ ries: lexical selection, themes, figures, space‑time relationship, inter‑discourses and silences. Methodologi‑ cally, 722 news articles were analysed. The results underline the reproduction of themes and figures of neo‑ liberal inter‑discourse, (re)affirming the political strategies of the national government. There is no conflict with the institutional discourse with an almost total absence of analysis of the impacts of tourism on the social reality of this area.","PeriodicalId":45968,"journal":{"name":"Pasos-Revista de Turismo y Patrimonio Cultural","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75157852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is, for that reason, frequently called a “symbol”, “icon” or “monument” of the city, and is one of its main tourist attractions. This paper analyses the Obelisk’s symbolism as a tourist site/sight in three dimensions: as a location that is accessible, centrally located and connected by multiple modes of transportation; as an attractive locale, the epicenter of both local actions (political acts and protests, celebrations of sports victories, commemorations of historical events) as well as global campaigns and initiatives carried out in the country; and as a monument with a meaning that has been historically constructed and is understandable to tourists. This last dimension is explored in detail by applying the theory of social semiosis and carrying out a historical analysis of the discourse associated with obelisks from the times of Ancient Egypt up to 19th‑century Europe and modern Latin America.","PeriodicalId":45968,"journal":{"name":"Pasos-Revista de Turismo y Patrimonio Cultural","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82311501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This activity connects practitioners with the past and with other forms of production sometimes lost through the exploration of industrial heritage. The objective of the study is to analyse the connection between the urbex and tourism from an anthropological perspective. Ethnographics allowed us to contact with groups of urbexers, using virtual ethnography. The results of the research show that this practice, which occurs in the intermediate phase or the abandonment of heritage and is situated between industrial activity and possible future musealisation or final demolition, may have connotations for tourism besides great implications from a cultural point of view.","PeriodicalId":45968,"journal":{"name":"Pasos-Revista de Turismo y Patrimonio Cultural","volume":"47 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73825678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
