However, the value of customized logistics service is not clear. We study conceptually and empirically how customized logistics service influences online customer post-purchase behavior, specifically e-satisfaction and e-loyalty. Primary data on customized logistics service were collected from an online field study involving direct observation. Secondary data on e-satisfaction and e-loyalty were collected from Bizrate.com. We used hierarchical multiple regression analyses and constrained nonlinear regression for empirical analysis. The results indicate that customized logistics service contributes significantly to e-satisfaction and, in turn, to e-loyalty. Furthermore, shipping rates significantly moderate the indirect effect of customized logistics service on e-loyalty through e-satisfaction. This research contributes to the understanding of the nature and consequences of customized logistics service in online retailing. Our findings underscore the effect of customized logistics service on e-satisfaction and e-loyalty, and the critical moderation effects of shipping rate on these relationships. Results from this study hold implications for the way online service operations managers employ logistics service strategy.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78323806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the study examines whether the adoption of entrepreneurial finance (EF) principles in crowdfunding platforms affects the economic success of funding and entrepreneurs’ ability in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to access financial resources. The study uses an online questionnaire survey on Crowdfunding economic success in the GCC to collect information from the participants. Participants are investors, entrepreneurs, and startups from five Gulf countries (i.e., Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and UAE) in addition to several Crowdfunding platforms commonly used by crowdfunders in this region (such as Indiegogo, Kickstarter, Eureeca, Beehive and GoFundMe) with total members (102964). Signaling theory and principle-agent theory combine to make a theoretical foundation that explains the relationship between funders and fundraisers. The pilot sample consisting of 10 units was used to validate and verify the research instrument of the study. The research sample consists of 1145 respondents (sample size n = 1145) selected randomly from the five Gulf countries included in the study. The findings reveal that CF’s presence positively impacts economic fundraising success and that crowdfunding platforms are an effective financial technology (Fintech) tool for financing entrepreneurs in the GCC. We conclude with recommendations for future EF and CF research. The findings of this study will have implications for improvements in practices of economic and finance. They may be used as a guide towards advancing the management and performance of the crowdfunding platforms in the Gulf region. Presently, a very few number of published research on crowdfunding exist in this region. Moreover, to the best of our knowledge, there is no single study investigating crowdfunding as an alternative financing source in the GCC.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83080748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Academics have argued there has been a shift in emphasis from pure strategy to hybrid (integrating a set of strategies). This transformation is constantly increasing. Therefore, from now on, the hybrid strategy based on Miles and Snow and Porter’s strategies is a vital concept to successful performance. Researchers investigated different cases of adoption of Miles and Snow or Porter strategies. Regardless of the prevalence and value of Miles and Snow and Porter’s strategies, they often lead to disappointing performances. The disappointing results of Miles and Snow and Porter’s strategies are due to several firms adopting the hybrid strategy. A holistic view of prior research is needed to understand the importance of a hybrid strategy on performance based on Miles and Snow and Porter. Accordingly, this study provides a comprehensive review of hybrid strategies based on Miles and Snow and Porter’s strategies. The reviewed literature regarding hybrid strategy based on Miles and Snow and Porter’s strategies is categorized and discussed in two directions. Firstly, Miles and Snow’s strategies. Secondly, Porter’s strategies. We analyze the essential characteristics of the emerging field for the hybrid strategy along with the issues, challenges, advantages of a hybrid strategy, theoretical, and practical implications.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80763418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the research leads to defining the most important criteria used to evaluate different locations to establish SEZs, understanding the priorities and perceptions of different groups of stakeholders. Moreover, it allows quantitatively assess States’ conditions to reduce the risk of wasted investment or unsuccessful development. Finally, it ranks alternatives based on the stakeholder perspectives and territorial realities. The analysis is based on a multi-criteria decision-making methodology, specifically on the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution. On a national basis, the most relevant criteria, in the view of stakeholders, are the availability of a skilled workforce. The “economic prosperity” and “financial investments and external aid” are the most critical gaps commonly perceived in all the States. The most applicable State to locate a Special Economic Zone is Banadir Regional Administration, which is perceived to be relatively better off concerning Environmental Conditions, Workforce Skills, Finance and External Aid, and Government Policies and Security. Moreover, the discrepancy between Banadir Regional Administration, but also Somaliland, and the other States is alarming, showing that the more advanced States are the ones that have a higher level of security, population, and also more reliable infrastructure. This information is vital for government and policymakers to support less developed countries' economic and social growth.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73792383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Second to test the awareness and cultural acceptance of societies in MENA region of the need to preserve the environment and reduce pollution by paving the way for finding alternatives to energy and developing emerging energy, which in turn will contribute to sustainable development and preserve the environment from pollution due to energy produced through fossil sources. The method of the current study relied on both primary data and secondary data. Hence, a questionnaire survey was developed to collect the required data. While, secondary data sources are obtained through the Web site finance.yahoo.com. The data processing techniques were carried out using Stata 16 software and using the Multiple Linear Regression method. The sample of the study consisted of 653 people from different MENA countries, i.e. Egypt, Jordan, Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, UAE, and Saudi Arabia. The results revealed two types of data, quantitative data and qualitative data. Quantitative data is excluded from the secondary data analysis that renewable energy technologies have a positive effect on sustainability development in the MENA region. Qualitative data; as the survey includes some open ended questions to give an avenue to respondents to provide further feedback regarding their experience and perception of renewable energy. The results revealed a high degree of cultural perception of Renewable Energy Technologies of the communities in the MENA. Also, people are aware and ready to afford the cost and efforts to generate clean energy that promote sustainability. This data is extremely heterogeneous, and so, it is hard to analyze and derive information from this data that is considered an indispensable source for decision-makers. Due to this massive growth, the classification of data and analysis has become an important research subject. Extracting information from this data has become a necessity. As a result, it was necessary to process these enormous volumes of data to uncover hidden information and therefore improve data analysis and, in turn, classification accuracy. In this paper, firstly, we focus on developing an ensemble machine-learning model based on active learning which identifies the most effective feature extraction strategy for heterogeneous data analysis, and compare it with traditional machine-learning algorithms. Secondly, we evaluate the proposed model during the experiments; five heterogeneous datasets from various domains were used, such as a Health Care Reform dataset, Sander Frandsen dataset, Financial Phrase Bank dataset, SMS Spam Collection dataset, and Textbook sales dataset. According to the results, the novel approach for data analysis performed better than conventional methods. Finally, the study’s findings confirmed the validity of the suggested technique, meeting the study’s goal of using ensemble methods with active learning to raise the model’s overall accuracy for effectively classifying and analyzing heterogeneous data, reducing the time and money spent training the model, and delivering superior analysis performance as well as insights into other elements of extracting information from heterogeneous data.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90429080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines the strategic choices of actors who participate in collaborative innovation alliances involving partnerships between industry and universities (U-I) based on a stochastic evolutionary game model. White noise was introduced to reflect uncertainty and the stochastic interferences caused by the differences between actors. Using the Itô stochastic differential equation theory, we analyze stability issues of player behaviors in the evolution of a collaborative innovation alliance. The results illustrate that improvements in innovation efficiency can contribute to U-I collaborative innovation alliances. High knowledge complementarity appears to be unbeneficial to the stability of these alliances, and controlling knowledge spillovers may suppress free-rider problems from both sides of the game. Our study contributes to innovation research by providing a decision-making reference for the design of U-I cooperation.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77702408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Notwithstanding its importance, value creation usually becomes a fuzzy concept that is difficult to grasp, especially when increasingly complex elements of reality are incorporated into its analysis. Building on the narrative of the firm as a complex adaptive system, this article provides empirical evidence showing value creation as emergent behavior resulting from hyper-connected value repositories. Several implications for scholars and practitioners are discussed. For scholars, expert knowledge is provided from 28 airline industry executives around the world together with a method based on fuzzy cognitive maps that allows modeling and simulating value creation in airlines through 26 value repositories and 77 interdependencies. For practitioners, the article raises awareness of the need to incorporate a complexity mindset into value creation analysis and smooths the transition towards a value performance management tool.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72529531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, it is attempted to analyze the sentiments on user-generated content (UGC) on Twitter. First, trigram word cloud is used. Then, a sentiment analysis is done with various predictive models including random forest, support-vector machine (SVM) and multilayer perceptron (MLP) to test the labeling of unlabeled data. To divide topics into negative, positive, and neutral sentiments, latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) has been applied. According to the results, the MLP method on the basis of accuracy criterion offers an accuracy of 0.81, which is higher than other tested methods. In this regard, random forest and SVM methods provide accuracy of 0.78 and 0.80, respectively. Voting and stacking algorithms were used to increase the accuracy of the algorithms. However, it is found that with the use of voting method, the accuracy is almost equal to the results obtained from the MLP and with stacking method the accuracy is less than all three methods. Using word cloud, it is indicated that the most negative trigram is startups innovation regarding climate change, the most positive one is product marketing management and business-related concepts are determined as neutral. It is found that startup acceleration process, pushing for quicker completion, delivering the best product at the beginning of the project, poor management practices, and focusing just on properties are grouped as negative sentiments. On the other hand, sustainable and innovative business plan, the presence of experienced entrepreneurs and investors, coronavirus (COVID-19), and innovation are recognized as positive sentiments, and no analysis is given for neutral sentiments.","PeriodicalId":45882,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering Business Management","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":3.3,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80888472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
