The work includes the comparison of results of the research from two main points of view, namely from a running gear design and a railway wheel design. Two variants of a tram’s bogie are investigated. A standard bogie and a bogie with a system that allows a radial adjustment of the wheelsets in curves. Two designs of a railway wheel are compared, a wheel with the traditional construction scheme and a wheel with a perspective construction scheme. The values of mechanical energy losses due to slippage in the contact between the wheels and rails are analysed. These losses are obtained with reference to a specific route and the value of the average power dissipated. Moreover, an analysis of advantages and disadvantages of bogie designs has made it possible to consider the most appropriate bogie design in terms of ensuring the energy efficiency. In this case, the bogie design with the wheels with the perspective construction scheme can be considered as the optimal option.","PeriodicalId":45804,"journal":{"name":"Acta Polytechnica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-07-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43501375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The materials included clay till collected in Yttre Ringvägen, southern Sweden. Binders included quicklime, slag and ordinary Portland cement used as pure binders and blended mixtures. We first applied the Response Surface Methodology techniques aimed at binder blend optimisation: 1) Central Composite Design; 2) Box-Behnken Design; 3) Simplex Lattice Design. The Pareto charts were presented for modelling responses from tests with different binders and estimating their effects on soil strength. Finally, to examine the variables important for soil stabilisation, we also evaluated the effect of the amount of binder and the interaction between cement/lime/slag in different ratios: 30-50-20 %; 50-50-0 %; 100-0-0 % The paper highlights the major opportunities and challenges of engineering statistics as a cross-cutting research direction for the issues of civil engineering.","PeriodicalId":45804,"journal":{"name":"Acta Polytechnica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48332291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is an urgent matter in industrialised countries, where the stakeholders’ attention is increasing at a fast pace considering the incidents and the disruptions caused by improper monitoring and maintenance. This paper presents an innovative methodology to survey and inspect existing railway tunnels through multi-dimensional mobile mapping systems. The proposed approach belongs to the digital strategies for infrastructure maintenance. An integrated multidimensional survey system (ARCHITA) allows for collecting information necessary for the diagnostics of a structure with non-destructive tests. Linear cameras, thermographic cameras, and ground-penetrating radars acquire data to be digitalised and manipulated in different IT environments. The results, in terms of the collected data on structural defects, allow for a new approach for the Management and Identification of the Risk for Existing Tunnels (MIRET). The innovative approach aims at a smart integration of information and models for the Facility Management of the transport system. The workflow for the digitalisation and diagnosis from mobile mapping data has been implemented on two 40km-long metro tunnels.","PeriodicalId":45804,"journal":{"name":"Acta Polytechnica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44665850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It must ensure many different works and the most important thing in motorsport to achieve is power optimization. High power and engine responsiveness are often desired to gain a competitive edge. Usually motorsport enthusiast will upgrade the car standard with aftermarket components such as higher rating turbo, longer duration camshafts and exhaust system. These are difficult to approach, time-consuming and expensive tasks compared to the ECU calibration method. And in Vietnam, most customers who want to change vehicle performance are based on the Remap method on Factory ECU. By using vehicle performance regulation method with piggy-back ECU, it is easier for the user to adjust than the popular Remap method. With advantages such as low cost and easy installation. And currently there are very few documents describing and evaluating the effectiveness of piggy-back ECU installed in vehicles. So in this paper, experimentally to reconstruct the electronic fuel injection system with piggy-back ECU was performed, then simulated the control algorithms of the electronic fuel injection system on LabVIEW and compared the results with the experiment, based on the simulation model of the operation algorithm of the EFI system with many cases in different load engines and engine speeds. Simulation results are used to evaluate the algorithm on the piggy-back ECU.","PeriodicalId":45804,"journal":{"name":"Acta Polytechnica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44270678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EN AW-1100 alloy is mostly used for its exceptional corrosion resistance, high ductility, high thermal and electrical conductivities, and cost-effectiveness. This study is focused on the optimisation of friction stir welding parameters to achieve enhanced mechanical properties of 5mm thick EN AW-1100 alloy plates welded with a single pass, using Taguchi L9 orthogonal array and ANOVA analysis. Experimental results revealed that maximum tensile strength of 79 MPa and percentage elongation of 38.87 % were achieved. The maximum Vickers hardness achieved in the stir zone was 34.15. These results were used for optimisation using Minitab and it was determined that 2000 RPM, 30 mm·min−1 traverse speed and square probe profile came out to be the best parameters for maximum tensile strength. 4000 RPM, 30 mm·min−1 traverse speed and square probe geometry were the best parameters for maximum hardness in the stir zone. ANOVA analysis showed that the most significant parameter for tensile strength was traverse speed. None of the considered parameters were influencing the hardness value in the stir zone at a 95 % confidence level.","PeriodicalId":45804,"journal":{"name":"Acta Polytechnica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45595756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The derivation of the entropy production is based on the thermodynamics laws as well as on the balances of mass, momentum, and energy. The original clinical plans used tangential field-in-field 3DCRT technique with a combination of 6 MV and 18 MV photon beams. VMAT and IMRT plans were based on several previously published techniques and used 6 MV beams. Two patients were included in this case study and 4 plans were created and compared for each one. All plans were compared in terms of tumour coverage, gradient measure and conformity index, doses to organs at risk (OARs), the volume of body receiving 5 Gy and also the number of Monitor Units (MUs). While better tumour coverage and conformity was achieved with IMRT and VMAT plans, OARs were better spared with the 3DCRT technique, which also resulted in the lowest dose bath and number of MUs.","PeriodicalId":45804,"journal":{"name":"Acta Polytechnica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44414364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The physical and mechanical properties of granite, diorite, and granodiorite samples selected at different depth intervals of the core obtained from a wellbore were examined. The ultimate uniaxial compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, and Poisson’s ratio of the rock samples were determined using presses and strain gauges. Also, local longitudinal and shear wave velocities were measured using a high-accuracy laser-ultrasonic system with a view to assessing the structure of the samples. Based on the resulting elastic wave velocity maps, samples with no obvious discontinuities were chosen. These undisturbed samples were subjected to uniaxial compression and their acoustic emission was simultaneously measured. In-situ stresses were estimated from the results of the interpretation of acoustic emission measurements. The experimental in-situ stresses were compared with the results of a numerical simulation. The ratio of the estimated in-situ stresses to the calculated ones is within the range from 0.81 to 1.11. This means that the laser ultrasonic and acoustic emission methods make it possible to effectively estimate in-situ stresses in a rock mass and assess the degree of rock mass damage.","PeriodicalId":45804,"journal":{"name":"Acta Polytechnica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-03-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48377433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
