Rural women dominate the informal sector and have been active in agriculture, food security, health, nutrition, home management, traditional elderly care, and micro and small-scale enterprises. Whilst the effects of the pandemic on Nigerian rural women have been measured, the contribution of rural women to the sustainability of agrarian rural communities in the country have not been studied. This paper explored the role of women in supporting their families and communities for the sustainability of rural communities and challenges they faced as they serve as buffers for the survival of their families and sustenance of livelihood in rural communities during the pandemic. The paper adopted qualitative phenomenological research design. A sample of 30 rural women were drawn from Gbara Village, an agrarian rural community in Sagamu Local Government, Ogun State, Nigeria through convenience sampling and purposive sampling techniques. Semi-structured Interviews, focus group meetings, and documents were used as data sources and descriptive analysis was used to analyses the demographic characteristics of the respondents. The qualitative results were analyzed through content analysis and eight themes emerged. There were responses on contributions of rural women to the sustainability of Gbara Village during the pandemic in agriculture and food security value chain, health and nutrition, home management, traditional elderly care, and rural entrepreneurship. The paper also found that rural women were confronted with socio-economic challenges of gender inequalities, illiteracy, and limited access to technology to enhance their role as change agents in rural communities during the pandemic. The study suggested that the government, organized private sector, development agencies, non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and civil society organizations should priorities and fast-track the attainment of gender equality and women education to empower rural women and increase their capacity for socio-economic transformation of rural communities in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":447056,"journal":{"name":"Shodh Sari-An International Multidisciplinary Journal","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115321106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Preteens are children between 10-12 years that crave adult status and will always revolt when been referred to as children. Preteens as social being are created to enjoy the company of their peers while disassociating themselves from the adult. Today, preteen’s enthusiasm to be in the midst of their peers has been replaced with watching films and cartoons, browsing, chatting and playing games on cell phones. Preteens’ attachment to cell phones makes it difficult for them to strike a balance between virtual and onsite relationships. The thrust of this paper therefore is to examine the effects of cell phones on the social interaction of preteens and the implications of these effects for Christian educators working among preteens. The research combines library research, observation and interview. It is expedient to make preteens realize that the use of cell phones is good as it makes life more comfortable for man but the place of face-to-face interaction with their peers and people around them is also important. The paper recommends that Christian educators can help to mitigate the effects of cell phones on the social interaction of preteens through intercession, discussion, teaching, nourishing, parents’ education and Christian educators’ exemplary living.","PeriodicalId":447056,"journal":{"name":"Shodh Sari-An International Multidisciplinary Journal","volume":"143 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113949395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, every society requires adequate human and material resources to improve its social organization, preserve the culture, enhance economic development and reform the political structures. Thus, teachers have an important role in adequately preparing the younger generation for their societal roles to achieve the set national objectives. In light of this basic truth, attempts must be made at examining staff development programs and quality instructional delivery of public secondary school teachers, in Lagos, Nigeria. Consequently, adopting the descriptive survey research design, the population of the study comprised 2438 public secondary school staff in Education District II of Lagos State, 140 teachers and seven principals which were randomly selected from seven public secondary schools in Education District II of Lagos State, Nigeria using simple random sampling technique at 5% margin and 95% confidence level, who responded to a self-designed and validated questionnaire titled “Staff Development Programmes and Quality Instructional Delivery Questionnaire (SDPQIDQ)”. The reliability coefficient was 0.87, using the Cronbach Alpha reliability test. Three research questions and three research hypotheses were answered and tested at .05 significant levels using mean scores, standard deviation, and regression analysis. The findings of the study showed that in-service training (r=.827; P<.05), workshop (r=.846; P<.05), and seminar programs (r=.832; P<.05) significantly have an impact on the quality instructional delivery of public secondary school teachers in Education District II of Lagos State, Nigeria respectively.
