Mothers with cesarean section may have reduced confidence in their ability to breastfeed exclusively, especially during the first month postpartum. This quasi-experimental study examined the effects of the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Enhancement Program with LINE Application on breastfeeding self-efficacy and exclusive breastfeeding four weeks after childbirth among mothers with a cesarean section. Fifty-two pregnant women prepared for cesarean section at a university hospital in central Thailand were divided into the experimental (n = 26) and control groups (n = 26). The experimental group received the program and usual care. The control group received only usual care. The instruments used for data collection consisted of the Demographic Characteristics Form, the Breast Feeding Self-efficacy Scale-short form, and the Infant Feeding Forms. Descriptive statistics, t-test and Fisher’s exact test were applied for data analysis. Results demonstrated that after participating in the intervention program for four weeks, the experimental group had higher mean scores of breastfeeding self-efficacy and rates of exclusive breastfeeding than those in the control group. The Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Enhancement Program with LINE Application contributed to higher breastfeeding self-efficacy and rates of exclusive breastfeeding for mothers with cesarean section. Nurse midwives can use this program in practice. However, the program needs to be further tested and content may need to be modified before being widely used.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135386972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a product of the fusion of East and West, Chinese ancient poetry art songs is a perfect fusion of the profound Chinese poems and Western elegant music creation techniques, which is the continuous development of the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Colleges and universities, as the main channel for the training of high-quality music talents, shoulder the important responsibilities of talent training, cultural inheritance and scientific research. Since the birth of Chinese ancient poetry art songs, there have been high requirements in vocal singing, mood shaping and cultural expression, etc. Therefore, integrating Chinese ancient poetry art songs into vocal teaching in colleges and universities can not only improve the students' vocal singing level and comprehensive cultural literacy, but also enhance the students' cultural self-confidence in learning and singing. However, it is found that the inheritance status of Chinese ancient poetry art songs integrated into vocal music teaching in colleges and universities is not optimistic, and there are problems such as insufficient attention of students, irrational curriculum facilities, lack of attention to the improvement of comprehensive quality, confusing use of teaching materials, and fewer opportunities for students to practise, and so on. Through the analysis of the causes, it is found that there are misunderstandings in the students' cognition, the teaching objectives are not clear enough, the teaching faculty is scarce, and the teaching ability needs to be improved. In view of the above problems, this study proposes that students should be guided to improve their value cognition and set up a correct sense of inheritance; teachers should clarify the teaching objectives and create a reasonable curriculum system; institutions should strengthen the training of teachers and enhance the ability of diversified teaching; institutions should encourage teachers to reasonably prepare teaching materials and provide a scientific teaching basis; and institutions and teachers should also actively develop practical activities and provide sufficient opportunities for exercise.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135426455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the geographical proximity and cultural similarities between China and ASEAN, and the fact that most ASEAN countries have a high recognition of (Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and prefer to use traditional medicine to treat diseases, there is a large market demand for Chinese Materia Medica (CMM). China-ASEAN Free Trade Area has become an important market for CMM exports. However, ASEAN countries have different degrees of green barriers to CMM exports, mainly including technical trade barriers (TTBs) and non-technical trade barriers (NTBs), and these green barriers have caused a certain impact of the entry of CMM into ASEAN countries. This article proposes legal countermeasures for CMM exports to ASEAN countries to deal with green barriers in terms of Chinese government's diplomacy, trade policy, industrial structure, intellectual property protection, quality of CMM, as well as Chinese enterprises' internal management, dispute resolution, communication and cooperation, with a view to developing the market of CMM in ASEAN countries. In order to speed up the pace of \"going out\" of CMM.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135469923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This qualitative descriptive study describes the challenges of avoiding congenital disorders from the experiences of pregnant women in northeastern Thailand. Data were collected between November 2017 and August 2019 from 18 pregnant women through in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. Three themes reflecting challenges emerged. Firstly, ‘traditional beliefs’ were challenging regarding unclear and potential adverse outcomes. Secondly, the challenges of ‘contemporary beliefs’ included distinct views and inaccessible information, characterized as non-apprehension, non-comprehension, non-modernization, or non-precision to preventing congenital disorders. Finally, ‘daily life activities,’ in selectiveness in eating, attainment of mother-child healthiness, and harm avoidance were aimed at both congenital disorder prevention and fetal development promotion. Some significant challenging topics included: vulnerable periods; some taboos; nutrients for brain development; safety in food, working, and environment; concerns with dangers of physical activities, exercise, maternal stress, and medicines; and misperceived benefits of herbal drugs and fetal stimulation. Nursing and midwifery practice guidelines should integrate the concept of congenital disorders prevention into the promotion of fetal development using culturally-sensitive approaches. The found challenges should be overcome and further applied in refining the practice guidelines.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134960222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These challenges lead to burnout, decreased patient satisfaction, and even patient harm. In response to A Bleak Future Awaits Nurses in Traditional Employment Worldwide: Insights on Practice and Career Alternatives, this analysis discusses the implications of these challenges for the future of nursing. The author argues that the future of nursing requires reform, nursing unions need to be strengthened, staffing shortages must be addressed, and violence against nurses needs to be prevented. The impact of the American Medical Association’s opposition to expanding the scope of practice for Advance Practice Registered Nurses is explored, and it argues that this opposition harms patients and undermines the autonomy of Advance Practice Registered Nurses. The article concludes by calling for action to address the nursing profession’s challenges. The future of nursing depends on the ability of nurses to advocate for themselves and their patients.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134957953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies to date in Vietnam have only concentrated on describing the frequency of types of violence within a specific healthcare facility with small sample sizes. This study aimed to determine the prevalence, impact and responses to workplace violence among registered nurses in public hospitals in Vietnam. This was the first nationwide study that has been carried out. A cross-sectional study design using an online questionnaire was conducted to achieve the study objectives with 2543 nurses working in 163 public hospitals. The frequency distribution and percentages were employed to describe the prevalence of workplace violence and nurses’ responses. The researchers also used the average value of the total score of each question to rank the impacts of workplace violence on nurses. The rate of workplace violence was 30.8%, of which physical and psychological violence were 5.3% and 29.7%, respectively. Among the types of psychological workplace violence, verbal abuse was the most common. The primary violent offenders were patients and caregivers. The biggest impact of workplace violence on nurses included always feeling stressed at work, decreased job satisfaction, and signs of stress or depression. The most common methods of responding to workplace violence were telling the perpetrator to stop or trying to defend themselves. These findings provide information for hospital leaders, health administrators and the Ministry of Health to reduce workplace violence against nurses. This can be done by increasing training on workplace violence management for nurses, creating a safe working environment to decrease the potential risks, and developing an appropriate system for reporting and responding to workplace violence incidents.","PeriodicalId":44649,"journal":{"name":"Pacific Rim International Journal of Nursing Research","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135801244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
