In intercultural management research and practice, these challenges have largely been conceptualized in conflictual or at least frictional terms1. Interculturality has thus been primarily posited as a cost factor, in that it is seen as inhibiting the efficient use of resources such as time, money, and human energy. Consequently, the discipline of intercultural management has for the most part set itself the goal of mitigating the challenges, in the negative sense, of cross-border collaboration, through the application of management strategies that seek to remove or at least reduce the obstacles to the attainment of organizational goals. These strategies typically seek to provide international assignees with knowledge of the immaterial and material elements of the national culture(s) whose members they will be or are already working with, along with a behavioural toolkit of ‘dos and don'ts’ to facilitate this interaction2. Underlying this conceptual and practical framework is an implicit understanding of the nature of culture and cultural identity that can be characterized as internally homogeneous, externally bounded and structurally static. Thus, as Wolf puts it, “we create a model of the world as a global pool hall in which the entities spin of each other like so many hard and round billiard balls”3. Similarly, and in spite of the perceived need to avoid stereotypes, individual cultural identity is conflated with that of the culture as whole. As critics of the so-called cross-national comparison model have pointed out4, however, this conceptual framework is essentialist and reductive, and specifically fails to reflect both the fluid and heterogeneous nature of culture, cultural identity and intercultural interaction5 and the importance of culture-independent contextual factors in international collaboration6. There has thus been a paradigmatic shift in the understanding of the basic terms of intercultural interaction, and this shift has led to a new set of perspectives on intercultural management. In particular, the theoretical elaboration of the possibility of cultures combining, rather than colliding, means that cultural difference has come to be perceived as not only a risk but also a resource that can be leveraged by applying the principles of diversity management7. In this way, the practical challenge of cross-border collaboration can be seen in positive terms, as the task of identifying and exploiting intercultural and contextual complementarities towards the achievement of organizational goals. Indeed, the positive aspect of interculturality can be taken one step further by applying the postcolonial concept of cultural hybridity8, which envisages the emergence of a new, synergistic culture that can transform ","PeriodicalId":446473,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering (ICMSE)","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123515292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With rationalization of the structure of listed companies and the development of the institutional investors, the mainland stock market is gradually becoming more mature. With the large number of mainland enterprises to be listed in Hong Kong, the mainland enterprises in Hong Kong stock market is growing dramatically. In the meantime, the economy of mainland and Hong Kong is connecting more intimately with each other. The capital transactions are getting more frequently and freely. The opening of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect program established connecting mechanism between the capital of Shanghai and Hong Kong, which has an impact on the linkage of Shanghai and Hong Kong market. The article analyzes empirically the co-movement changing of the common trade time stock price index before staring the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect program. It divides days from March 18, 2013 to March 18, 2016 to two stages. And then it makes coordination and error correction according to the daily data of the Hang Seng Index and the Shanghai Composite Index. And it dose the empirical analysation to the Granger causality test next. The results showed that it has linkage between Shanghai and Hong Kong after beginning the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect program. Particularly, Shanghai stock market becomes a guiding role to lead the Hong Kong market. With the degree of internationalization of the Mainland stock market increasing, the impact from International capital market on stock market is increasing. Meanwhile, possibilities of the risk of infection between markets will rise. Consequently, to response test of the international capital and the impact of exchange rate fluctuations and other factors, we need to further establish and improve financial market regulation mechanism.","PeriodicalId":446473,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering (ICMSE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129553388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using Technology Acceptance Model, this paper explored the factors why people made the decision to use TCM. Results based on a sample of 213 undergraduate students indicated that, perceived usefulness of TCM and subjective norms (social influence) significantly predict attitudes (trust towards TCM), and trust explained whether people would choose TCM, while perceived ease of use (conceptualized as patient-doctor relationship) exerted no effect on trust and behavior intention (BI). Besides, individuals with long-term orientation were likely to consider TCM as an effective way for health treatment and had more interests in TCM. Although female could be more easily influenced by social affairs, they did not have a higher preference of TCM. Implications and future research directions are discussed.","PeriodicalId":446473,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering (ICMSE)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130577752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on some major industrial sectors' energy consumption data over the period 1997–2005 and 2005–2013, those two models were used to analyze empirically how China's energy intensity has been changed during the time, how the driving factors and differences of such changes has been explained. In addition, six industrial sectors that have shown the most significant yield effect and intensity effect were figured out according to the impact factors of the previous decomposition analysis, and the potential best industrial path to further decline of China's energy intensity in the future has been suggested accordingly. Based on the sample data of 289 enterprises, this paper used the stepwise regression method to research the mediated moderation model empirically. The results indicate that industry transfer has a positive effect on promoting enterprise innovation performance in less developed regions. This impact is moderated by width and depth of knowledge potential and at the same time network structure conveys their effects.","PeriodicalId":446473,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering (ICMSE)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128885473","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After controlling some other variables relating to the characteristics of both questions and questioners, the results indicated that if the questions are answered by female responders, the effect of their responding experience on the possibility of their answers to be identified as best answer increases significantly. Further, if it is the females who answering, the effect of time intervals between questions and answers increase as well. However, when it comes to the content length, the moderating effect is insignificant. According to our results, some efficient and effective selection methods of travel information are provided that could be the reference for the online travel website to select best-answers. Finally, the implications of the results are discussed in relation to research and practice.","PeriodicalId":446473,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering (ICMSE)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123343253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Proper usage of Internet can bring many benefits to the elderly, like reducing the sense of loneliness and keeping positive attitude. But the literatures of how to improve the Internet usage lack special factors for the elderly. Under socioemotional selectivity perspectives, this paper took Internet communication service as an example to discuss the fitness between Internet-based service and the elderly's psychological needs, and empirically tested the hypothesis by focus group and an experiment. First, there are two types of the elderly's Internet needs: instrumental needs (e.g. autonomy, personal growth), and socioemotional needs (e.g. family solidarity, sense of belonging, positive experience). Both of them can improve the elderly's usage intention of Internet-based services. Under the instrumental needs, the elderly has stronger usage intention of non-communication services, while under socioemotional needs, the elderly has stronger usage intention of communication services. In addition, the older adults expect more positive experiences in the usage of Internet and have more socioemotional needs than the younger ones. Thus, the above results show that the elderly need more online communication services. Accordingly, the related institutions that aim at offering services for the elderly could make efforts on service design and pattern of activity to effectively promote the elderly's communication via Internet.","PeriodicalId":446473,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering (ICMSE)","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131513204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Drawing upon the extant literatures, this study develops a theoretical model to examine the impact of IS-Business strategic alignment and environmental uncertainty on Enterprise Systems assimilation. We collected 101 valid data cases from 153 firms in China and used Structural Equation Model (SEM) technique to examine the research model. The empirical results suggest that IS-Business strategic alignment is a critical driver of Enterprise Systems assimilation, and environmental uncertainty positively moderates the relationship between IS-Business strategic alignment and Enterprise Systems assimilation. Our study contributes to the extant literatures in both IS-Business strategic alignment and Enterprise Systems success.","PeriodicalId":446473,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering (ICMSE)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114951637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
