By exploiting the properties of DCT, the proposed method mitigates the aliasing effect introduced in discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based channel estimation method. Further more, the proposed algorithm reduces the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and inter-carrier interference (ICl) significantly by iteration. Simulation results show that the proposed method provides good MSE performance.","PeriodicalId":446281,"journal":{"name":"2007 International workshop on Antenna Technology: Small and Smart Antennas Metamaterials and Applications","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116742166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Essentials of SA are discussed pertaining to the fundamentals of SA and realization of SA. Matching and resonance are taken as the significant issues in SA. Investigation of the radiation mechanism of an antenna system and study of the calculation of energy flow from an antenna are proposed as one of the clues to look into the essentials of SA. Typical structures to create ESA are shown and some practical examples of SA are introduced. Future perspectives are briefly discussed.","PeriodicalId":446281,"journal":{"name":"2007 International workshop on Antenna Technology: Small and Smart Antennas Metamaterials and Applications","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128663150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the improvement of bandwidth, we have used a DGS under coupled area. A prototype filter circuit of center frequency at 1.8 GHz has been fabricated with PTFE substrate. Measured result shows bandwidth of 200 MHz with insertion loss of 0.2 dB at center frequency of 1.95 GHz. With a switch on top of the radiator different frequency bands can be chosen. The antenna is based on a dual band IFA design but number of bands are increased to four. Two different radiator branches can be activated by the switch which results in a frequency shift. In one state the antenna covers the GSM 850 MHz and 1800 MHz bands and in the other state the GSM 900 MHz and 1900 MHz bands are covered. This means the antenna size is same as a dual band antenna but it covers four frequency bands. Size is 38times7times1 mm. Adding active circuits to an antenna to achieve frequency control normally results in high losses and low gain antenna. With this solution the performance remains and radiation efficiency (gain) is very high and similar to a passive antenna","PeriodicalId":446281,"journal":{"name":"2007 International workshop on Antenna Technology: Small and Smart Antennas Metamaterials and Applications","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116745088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
