Abstract

The rapid development in the WLAN communication demands novel compact antenna designs that can provide multi-band operation, such as the IEEE 802.11b/g (2.4-2.484 GHz), IEEE802.11a (5.15-5.35 GHz, 5.725-5.825 GHz), and HIPERLAN/2 (5.15-5.35 GHz, 5.47-5.725 GHz) operations. This article introduces a printed meander monopole antenna with a novel shaped profile for tri-band WLAN operation. Compared with the above mentioned monopole antennas of letter configurations, the proposed antenna has a smaller size and a wider bandwidth. Details of the antenna design and the experimental results are presented and discussed
