As of the remedial/preventive actions, transmission reconfiguration has been employed to relieve congestion. In this paper, a methodology is proposed which optimally determines the system configuration to relieve congestion while respecting system security limits such as N-1 contingency criteria, voltage limits, voltage stability margin and transient stability. Most of these important criteria have been overlooked in the previous literature. The corresponding problem is solved using Benders decomposition method. The proposed methodology is evaluated using the IEEE 300-bus test system.","PeriodicalId":445295,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129612854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under AC stress there are several established instruments to get evidence of the type and the location of the defect, most important the phase angle histogram. Under DC stress there are no such methods available up to now and therefore new interpretation techniques have to be developed. In this paper two typical types of PD are generated and analyzed on the basis of various parameters to identify characteristics which allow a founded differentiation of these two types of defect. The results are discussed on the basis of the physical processes which are involved in the discharge process.","PeriodicalId":445295,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130204432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although application of these types of supplies have lots of advantages, such as improving the voltage stability, enhancement of the voltage profiles, mitigation of power losses and improvement of grids reliability, however, improper location and size of these units can raise problems in the operation of power systems. Consequently, appropriate selection and location of DG units are of great importance. This paper proposes a novel technique using multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) tool for determining DGs sizes and locations to be used by distribution company (DisCo). In this study, the necessary operational and economic objective functions are developed. Then in order to select the best compromised answer from the Pareto optimal set of solutions obtained from the related simulations, a fuzzy decision making method is employed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed technique is validated on the IEEE 33-bus distribution test system.","PeriodicalId":445295,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"2673 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117224700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present paper includes a new concept for integrating buildings equipped with intelligent storage systems in MG, making them zero grid-impact and so improving the efficiency of the MG including them. These aims are shown to be achievable with the use of an intelligent system managing the storage, based in a DC/AC converter connected to the point of coupling of the building with the main grid. The system is a prototype available at ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development) labs in Rome. The authors describes it in details, including the control functions. A complete and versatile model in MatLab-Simulink is proposed and the results of simulations are shown.","PeriodicalId":445295,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"2001 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125736846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a major economic factor affecting electricity price on market as well as other factors such as an increase in oil and natural gas prices. To be more specific around 50% of electricity is generated by natural gas generators and 95% of natural gas is imported from other countries. However, Turkey has considerable amount of wind and solar energy potentials to generate electricity through wind turbines and photo-voltaic arrays either on-grid or off-grid. An off-grid hybrid system is more attractive in rural areas where access to grid is limited or unavailable. This study focuses on a power scheduling in a simple renewable hybrid system in order to minimize the operational unit cost using the binary-coded genetic algorithm instead of using mixed integer linear programming. The preliminary results indicated that the binary-coded genetic algorithm produced encouraging and meaningful outcomes to minimize operational unit cost in a typical renewable microgrid photo-voltaic/wind hybrid system.","PeriodicalId":445295,"journal":{"name":"2013 13th International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering (EEEIC)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124527401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
