Employing protocol such as IEC61850 globally in the electrical substation need to be well tested for time critical operations, physical security of the substation with proper logic implementation for power flow in case of an event. If the substation is connected to the internet then the problem gets more complex with respect to cyber security challenges faced over this protocol.In this work, Hardware-in-the-loop simulation methodology of Smart grid including the physical IEC61850 communication net-work layer using Intelligent electronic devices of circuit breakers is presented. GOOSE messages and MMS server communication using IEC61850 in the smart grids are investigated inside the real-time simulation boundaries. The unique aspect of this work is the logic implementation among the protection devices are tested with real communication delays over the protocol that can occur between them, and these results are more realistic matching the real world scenario.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130443699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The benefit of utilising the series resonance principle to induction machines comes from applying high currents with low voltages at high speeds. However, high voltage requirement at low frequencies is the main disadvantage of this machine. Therefore, the acceleration and deceleration of the machine are limited due to the high voltage requirement at these frequencies. A combination of the conventional induction machine and resonant induction machine topologies is presented in this paper to improve the practicality of the resonant induction machine. An asymmetrical six-phase induction machine is utilised to enhance the acceleration and deceleration of the machine. The six-phase machine consists of two isolated three-phase winding sets where the first winding set is connected to three capacitors in series with the winding set's phases. The other winding set is connected to the inverter terminals directly. Indirect rotor-field oriented control is utilised to control the proposed machine, where vector space decomposition is used to achieve the machine's speed control. A Simulink model is developed to validate the proposed machine topology and control scheme.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134534909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is possible since magnetic couplings assure contactless mechanical power transmission, which rules out the usage of complicated and unsure mechanical seals that jeopardize underwater vessels by a hull breach. Magnetic couplings have less acoustic operation noise and inherent overload protection, which are interesting features for submarines. Moreover, it can increase the thruster performance since it eliminates the friction inherent to mechanical seals. This performance augmentation is possible when the hull material is not conductive. In this context, a way to calculate , in an unique equation, the motor power to design a new thruster is presented from the task where the drone advances in its maximum speed. Otherwise, the applied method can also be used to know the maximum waited speed from the already defined motors. It can help robots designers in sizing appropriate thruster motors for more efficient new underwater drones.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131794014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Excessive overshoot is harmful to DC converters, which could break down switch devices, threaten the safe operation of the system. In this paper, a voltage overshoot design method for DC-DC converters based on state overshoot concept is firstly proposed to obtain the accurate voltage overshoot in the theoretical design stage by reasonably designing the PI parameters. Next, taking buck converter, boost converter and two-stage cascaded buck converter as examples, the ranges of PI parameters by considering the set voltage overshoot are designed theoretically. Finally, the time-domain waveforms from the simulation and experiment of the above three DC-DC converters are provided to show the correctness and the applicability of the proposed method in real engineering. This method provides an accurate and practical design method of voltage overshoot for DC-DC converters.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131078242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In all of these areas cybersecurity is the enabler for safety as failing or compromised devices threaten the life of people. Often, it is not feasible securing already deployed devices because of high costs, missing physical access, or defective hardware. Therefore, the next generation devices deployed in the future have to be more secure and more resilient to cyber attacks.This paper proposes a new approach to secure these next generation devices by using program optimized Application Specific Processors (ASPs) and employing an easy to integrate development flow for embedded developers. It evaluates the security improvement by analyzing the vulnerability of the approach against typical attack patterns.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132858185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The project was started by four European Universities when they identified by a survey that students find Control Theory more challenging to understand compared to other subjects. The project’s main goal was to develop a platform, which would offer examples from the field of Control Theory in an interactive way – ICCT. Frequently asked questions (FAQ) and test exam questions were added as well. To support the course, an accompanying textbook was prepared. At this point, the course and the accompanying textbook are available in English and the languages of the partner universities; since both of them are publicly available, we assume they will be offered in other languages in future. The benefits of implementing our interactive course are already visible in better survey results and improved grades in Control Theory-related subjects.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133384584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The traditional single-task prediction often neglects this point, which becomes a bottleneck for further improvement of the prediction accuracy. In this paper, we propose a multi-task spatial-temporal prediction model, which uses multi-channel graph convolutional network (GCN) to fuse the spatial features of the traffic network and the parking network, and then extracts the joint temporal features from the fused spatial features through gated recurrent unit (GRU), so as to realize the integrated and simultaneous prediction of traffic flow and parking saturation. The experiment results show that the multi-task prediction is better than the single-task prediction in terms of accuracy, especially when road traffic and parking interact with each other more closely. Through the experiment, the influence of the correlation between traffic flow and parking saturation on the prediction accuracy is observed for the first time.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133311183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electroluminescence of the laboratory fabricated power MOSFET body diode is measured to detect the bipolar degradation which provides firm evidence of the presence of a 3C- like regions affected by SF. Accelerated bipolar degradation tests were performed on the device and it was found that the on-resistance which is a key indicator of the degradation level, increased by 15.6 % during the first stress while it decreased by 6.9 % in the second stress. Other related SiC material defects were as well detected. The electroluminescence spectra is an excellent tool for monitoring SiC power devices deterioration related to material defects without performing destructive tests such as SEM.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132448996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since MPC has a major drawback in computational complexity due to iterative computations at each time step, NNPC has been introduced as a powerful control method for IMD. ACO technique has been implemented efficiently with the predictive controller to solve the nonlinear optimization problems with the consideration of system constraints like output and states. Further, the proposed NNPC-ACO for torque and flux controller must be tuned carefully to obtain satisfactory performance at different states of operation. Moreover, the complexity in NNPC-ACO is reduced as compared to MPCA-CO and therefore, the optimum generated control signal of NNPC-ACO gives better dynamic performance and settling time compared to the MPC-ACO. The model using both controllers is observed using MATLAB/Simulink software as well as a hardware prototype with a 3.7 kW IMD. The NNPC-ACO provides improved performance and better robust operation than that of the MPC-ACO-based drive.","PeriodicalId":443337,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"12 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128888257","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
