The topology provides galvanic isolation and is able to protect the system during short-circuits occurrence in the load side. The power factor control in the ac side is performed by the duty cycle variation in the primary bridge. It is supposed to regulate the dc bus voltage even during voltage dips and short-circuits. The secondary side bridge is driven with constant duty cycle and the power flow is controlled by the variation of the phase shift angle between the two bridges. The basic equations are shown and the simulation results are presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125942263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The developed software, named SIGEE, includes calculation of indicators of power quality for electrical grid diagnosis purposes, the assembling of graphics of measured quantities, and the signaling by color of the violated parameters. The development of measurement management SIGEE had as motivation the power networks evolution with respect to the introduction of smart metering devices, which allow consumers to track their energy consumption and the quality of the power supplied. Java Platform Standard Edition and MySQL technologies were used to build the tool. Measured data collected from fifteen energy distribution transformers of Federal University of Ceará were used. As a result, it was observed the tool integration viability with a database for the collected measurement treatment, the collected data presentation in .xml format file, indicators' calculation and graphics presentation for assessment of the installation's power quality and energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114384733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The topology of the three-state switching cell provides lower current stresses in the switches, since only half the input power is processed by the active switches. Thus, only half the input peak current flows through the switches, reducing conduction and switching losses, hence making the use of this converter very attractive for applications in larger power levels. The volume and weight of magnetic elements is reduced, since they operate at a twice the switching frequency of switches. A theoretical analysis and design example of the proposed converter as well as experimental results for a 1.5kW prototype are presented in this work.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126493486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A small model of a dc microgrid comprising microsources and loads was implemented in the Simulink/Matlab environment. Some aspects about centralized (master-slave) and descentralized (voltage droop) control strategies as well as the procedures to design the controllers, with and without droop control, are presented and discussed. Simulation results obtained with the digital model of the dc microgrid with three microsources will be presented to validate the effectiveness of the voltage droop strategy, applied to proportional and proportional-integral controllers, to regulate the microgrid voltage.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130095015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, the transformation processes of the raw materials into finished products can involve complex organization of equipment and energy use of different types (for example, electrical, chemical, mechanical, thermal, etc.). In this context, a major effort is undertaken by companies so that your plants are operated efficiently. But for that to happen it is essential that regulatory control is working properly. The evaluation of the regulatory control can be made periodically by means of indicators, so that corrective actions can be taken when significant performance degradation thereof occurs. Considering these issues, it was decided to conduct a pilot project to analyze the benefits that the regulatory control evaluation could bring to a company of the steel industry. The pilot project was conducted in a steam power plant belonging to the company. The approach of the methodology employed, the main items checked and the results achieved in this project are part of the scope of this text.","PeriodicalId":442317,"journal":{"name":"2012 10th IEEE/IAS International Conference on Industry Applications","volume":"1 9","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131840319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
