By using an edge/vertex-coloring algorithm to carefully allocate the channels in the mesh network, the co-channel interference of the mesh network, particularly intra-node interference, can be significantly reduced. In our prototype, we found that with 90° angle separation, there is negligible intra-node interference and rate loss. Furthermore, our indoor demonstrations with multi-hop transmissions showed that end-to-end throughput as high as 1.7 Gbps can be achieved.","PeriodicalId":441407,"journal":{"name":"2018 11th Global Symposium on Millimeter Waves (GSMM)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124674251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An impedance surface expression is practically realized using corrugations of varied depth onto a cylindrical RF repeater platform and fabricated using 3D-printing. We integrate the spatial correlation between line-of-sight (LoS) and none-line-of-sight (NLoS) beams to the stochastic framework for better modeling mmWave. To handle the channel dynamics in mmWave communications, we derive a Markov gain-state channel model based on channel measurements in an indoor environment from our field measurement. The proposed stochastic model is used to estimate the transition probability of each channel. Then it is integrated into the Markov jump linear system framework to construct the linear estimator for channel variables, such as AoA and channel gain. The simulation result demonstrates the outperformance of the proposed framework against the previous Kalman-filtering-based tracking algorithm.","PeriodicalId":441407,"journal":{"name":"2018 11th Global Symposium on Millimeter Waves (GSMM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125459737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three independent I/Q baseband signals are upconverted to different intermediate frequencies and then bonded in current domain. A local oscillator leakage cancellation functionality is implemented on chip within the input stage to enhance the dynamic range. Single ended inputs were utilized in order to reduce the pin count, for a more practical realization and higher potential toward future system scaling. The transmitter channelizer achieves an output 3-dB bandwidth of 15 GHz. LO rejection of 74 dBc at the center frequency was measured after calibration. It dissipates 355 m Wand occupies 1.5 mm2. With these specifications the presented circuitry suits well as a practical solution for wideband channelization for high data rate transmission scenario's, such as THz and sub-THz communications applications, with a potential scaling-up to higher number of channels.","PeriodicalId":441407,"journal":{"name":"2018 11th Global Symposium on Millimeter Waves (GSMM)","volume":"184 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132001902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The novelty of the proposed polarization-inclusive remote sensing concept lies in the way the orthogonal polarizations are measured and compared to the reference signal. The core of the proposed system is the dually-polarized individual components such as the dually polarized waveguides, hybrid couplers and phase shifters. The signal flow in the proposed system is explained in details. An example for the analytical procedure to design millimeter wave dually-polarized phase shifter is explained in details.","PeriodicalId":441407,"journal":{"name":"2018 11th Global Symposium on Millimeter Waves (GSMM)","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122164730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here we describe recent work extending the approach to measurements of coherent high-intensity RF electric fields above 1 kV/m and continuous-frequency RF measurement capability. The spectra are modeled using a non-perturbative Floquet model that accounts for higher-order interactions and state mixing. The spectroscopic data also reveal nonlinear amplifier behavior and noise.","PeriodicalId":441407,"journal":{"name":"2018 11th Global Symposium on Millimeter Waves (GSMM)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134092142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such settings, an air-satellite (AS) communication link may be required. For transmissions in the millimeter wave (mmWave) frequency bands, rain attenuation can be a dominant fading component in the AS link, especially in so-called “worst month” conditions. Several models have been established by the International Telecommunications Union (ITV) to quantify rain attenuation. However, since the models are for global use, results are not always sufficiently accurate in local areas. Hence the use of local precipitation data can improve rain attenuation estimation accuracy. In this paper, we investigate attenuations in the AS channel in two frequency bands (30 and 45 GHz) for Columbia, SC. We use local rain gauge data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), along with the regional ITV data, as inputs to the ITV tropospheric time series attenuation model. Statistical results for attenuation distributions and time series are analyzed for the worst month. We show that use of local measured rain gauge data can yield rain fades significantly larger than those predicted by the regional ITV data-on the order of 20 dB larger, for probabilities (~ fractions of time) ranging from 0.001 to 0.04.","PeriodicalId":441407,"journal":{"name":"2018 11th Global Symposium on Millimeter Waves (GSMM)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123806902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
