Results appeared that the infestation of two cultivars by T. urticae was begun in the first week of October under greenhouse conditions. Progressively increased till its peaks in the third week of June for (sweet pea) and in the first week of February for (pea) during the two successive seasons. Through two consecutive seasons, sweet pea cultivar was the most highly sensitive than pea, arranged in a descending order as follows: sweet pea (75.58, 74.37 and 74.19%), (76.30, 75.87 and 74.95%) and pea (24.41, 25.62 and 25.80%), (23.96, 23.51 and 25.04%). Subsequently, sweet pea cultivar highly susceptible (36.62±3.236), (47.75±4.395) and (45.73±4.193) adult, immature and egg, respectively in season 2017-2018 and the lowest infested are pea cultivar (10.71±1.249) (13.66±1.632 ) and (14.61±1.729) adult, immature and egg, respectively in season 2016-2017. Cultivars (sweet pea and pea) contain remarkable rates of the predatory mite, A. swirskii through two successive seasons. Phytochemical contents were evaluated in uninfested and infested leaves at peak infestation and the final season of 2017. In addition, there is a positive relationship between mite infestation levels and total carbohydrates and nitrogen in sweet pea and pea leaves, however a negative relationship found with total phenolic compounds. Infested leaves of sweet pea and pea cultivars contained a low concentration of phosphate and potassium (1.065, 2.165) & (0.54, 1.17) at the late season.","PeriodicalId":441161,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Plant Protection","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134165939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A split plot experimental design arranged in randomized complete block with four replications was used in both seasons. Three seedling ages viz., 21, 28 and 35 days were allocated to the main plots, while five weed control treatments i.e., thiobencarb (50% EC) at 2.39 kg ai ha -1 , oxadiazon (25% EC) at 0.045 kg ai ha -1 , penoxsulam (24% SC) at 0.029 kg.ai ha -1 , hand weeding two times (20 and 40 DAT) and untreated (weedy check) were assigned to the sub-plots. The results showed transplanting rice seedlings at 21 days old recorded the lowest dry weight of Eclipta sp C. difformis E crus-galli and total weeds. Also, the increasing in rice dry weight, number of panicles m -2 , panicle weight, number of filled grains panicle -1 , 1000-grain weight and rice grain yield as compared to rest seedling ages (28 and 35 days). The application of penoxsulam at 0.029 kg ai ha -1 applied at 15 DAT achieved the lowest dry weight of weed species and total weeds as well as the highest rice yield as compared to weedy check. The interaction between seedling ages and weed control treatments had significant effect on dry weights of weed species, total weeds dry, rice yield and its components. Where, transplanting rice seedlings treatment at 21 days old treated with herbicide of penoxsulam at 0.029 kg ai ha -1 at 15 DAT are the best among the studied treatments to achieve the best weed control and the highest rice dry mater, grain yield and its components for Sakha 106 cv. under this study conditions.","PeriodicalId":441161,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Plant Protection","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123324316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 50 samples of drinking water were collected from private selling sites of unbolted water in the urban area of Khamis Mushait city. Physicochemical parameters such as pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), and electrical conductivity (EC) of water samples were measured using standard methods to assess the quality of drinking water. The pH values of water samples ranged from 6.56±0.1 to 8.5±0.49, TSD changed from 104.7±0.28 to 202.4±1.7 mg/liter and EC from 163.6±0.45 to 316.3±2.61 μS/cm. The previous results indicated that all physicochemical parameters are within the permissible limits of WHO (2011) for drinking water quality. The bacteriological examination of water samples included the most probable number (MPN/100 ml) of coliforms, E.coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results showed that E. coli bacterium was not detected in all samples, while total coliform group was found in 7 samples out of 50 samples analyzed (14%) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found in 24 samples out of a total of 50 samples (48%). Furthermore, this study has revealed that about 54% of the water samples collected from private selling sites is incompatible to the World Health Organization (WHO) standards for drinking water quality.","PeriodicalId":441161,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Plant Protection","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127770376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It’s been bombarded with tones of pesticides to control various insects and pathogens. In the present study, pesticides residues were evaluated in strawberry samples that collected from different places, El-Beheira (Al-Nubaryia, Al-Mahmoudia, and Bader cities), El-Minofyia, and Ismailyia Governorates. Pesticides residues were extracted and cleaned up with QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) method. Then extracts were analyzed with GC-MS to determine the pesticide residue levels. Results showed that the average recovery percentages ± relative standard deviation (RSD) of pesticides from fortified strawberry samples ranged from 91.7±4.6 to 102.1±5.2% and 92.8±6.2 to 102.3±4.0% at 0.1 and 1 μgL, respectively. Residue levels of boscalid, p,p-DDD, and propiconazole pesticides in strawberry samples from Bader city were 5.000, 0.104, and 0.048 mgKg, respectively. Endrin and propiconazole residue levels were detected in samples from El-Minofyia city at 0.098 and 0.038 mgKg, respectively. On the other hand, Propiconazole residues were found in all strawberry samples from the five locations under investigation. Residues of detected pesticides were less than their corresponding maximum residue limits of European Union (EU-MRLs) that highlight the safety of marketed strawberry for Egyptian consumers.","PeriodicalId":441161,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Plant Protection","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124919606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Planting was carried out on July 20, 10 and 31 of August during 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons as early, ordinary and late dates of sowing, using the abovementioned three methods, at Shubramunt Village, Giza. Results showed significant differences among the weekly mean numbers of aphid as affected by the three tested methods of planting at the three tested sowing dates. Aphid infestations were generally low or moderate on G. artichoke when using the crown pieces comparing with the other two tested methods in both seasons under the three tested sowing dates. The lowest infestation observed with the normal date, especially by using crown pieces. As for flower head characters, results showed that neither propagation methods nor dates of sowing had significant effect on the average diameter or length of the formed head in both seasons. Also, using crown pieces gave significant increase in number and weight in flower heads compared to the other two tested methods. The greatest number of heads/ plant associated with the early date of planting, while its greatest weight correlated with the normal planting date under the three tested methods of propagation during the two studied seasons.","PeriodicalId":441161,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Applied Plant Protection","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134547959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
