These skills include technical skills, managerial skills, business skills, personal maturity skills, ICT skills and information literacy skills. The context observation and literature review indicated limited research on the entrepreneurial skills of Library and Information Science (LIS) faculty and academic librarians in Nigerian universities. The need to fill this inadvertently created gap initiated this study. The study aimed to assess entrepreneurial skills level as well as identify entrepreneurship issues and prospects of LIS faculty and academic librarians in South-West Nigerian universities with library schools. This paper was anchored on survey research design. The study employed the total enumeration method to cover all LIS faculty and academic librarians in these universities. An adapted structured questionnaire was administered and responses were analyzed quantitatively using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. Findings revealed lackluster technical, business and ICT skills of these information professionals including unacceptable managerial skills. Furthermore, entrepreneurship issues showed government-centered, institutional and personal subjects such as government policies, economic problems, legal registration, funding, excessive workload and lack of entrepreneurial attitude. The study also uncovered dwindling entrepreneurship prospects. The study recommends premeditated efforts by LIS faculty and academic librarians and universities at entrepreneurial development and the advancement of citizen-friendly entrepreneurial policies and a blueprint by the government.Keywords: Academic librariansentrepreneurial skillsentrepreneurshiplibrary and information sciencelibrary and information science faculty Disclosure statementNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s).","PeriodicalId":44062,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business & Finance Librarianship","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135195629","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two hundred one Vietnamese staff in private business school libraries are surveyed to fulfill this objective. Levene’s test, analysis of variance, and paired t-test are used to explore whether there is a difference in respondents’ answers based on gender, age, education, and managerial level. The findings indicate that education and maturity age make a difference in the working skills of Vietnamese librarians. In other words, the results concerning working skills are partially approved by those with a more mature age and more formal education. This research strengthens the social exchange theory about working skills in Vietnamese business school librarians, particularly the first-known research measuring this issue. The current situation calls for introducing organizational systems on corporate skills and providing the necessary skills to boost working efficiency in Vietnamese private business school libraries. Therefore, this research is essential in its field.","PeriodicalId":44062,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Business & Finance Librarianship","volume":"37 1","pages":"233 - 254"},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2023-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82304115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
