We can check both the intensity and distribution of each field as the required pretreatment verification with dosimetry systems. \u0000Method: Treatment verification for different plans (IMRT and RapidArc) applied on localized prostate cancer patients was done with electronic portal imager device (EPID), Delta4). The EPID used was Varian aS1000 mounted on Varian (TrueBeam) Linac with gamma criteria set to ΔD=3% and Δd=3mm. RapidArc plans were designed by arcs (179.0o CCW to 181.0o and 181.0o CW to 179.0o) under the same gamma criteria of (ΔD=3%, DTA=3mm and γ-index ≤1) while the threshold dose was 20%. \u0000Results: Evaluation analysis is passed for IMRT prostate plans with the area gamma ˂1.0 which equaled 99.1% (99.1% of the pixels had gamma˂1) within a tolerance of 95.0%, area gamma ˃0.8 (was equal to 2.1%) / area gamma ˃1.2 (was equal to 0.3%) and the average dose difference was 0.42CU. Delta4 dosimetry system was assessed with RapidArc plan; the agreement between the measured and planned doses was ±1% and gamma analysis resulted in 100% data points with the same agreement conditions. \u0000Conclusion: Portal dosimetry provided a good verification of the treatment unit ability to deliver doses according to plan. For an IMRT field comprised of several subfields, it could give rise to much more errors. RapidArc plans were verified using Delta4 system, which generated excellent dosimetry results. Periodic calibration was recommended for Delta4 dosimetry system; radiation damage affected sensitivity by ˃1% every 1kGy.

We conducted the present study to find the status of Helicobacter (H) pylori infection and its association with altered genes P53, hMLH1, and HER2 in gastric cancer patients and to analyse their correlation with clinical, pathological, and environmental factors. \u0000Method: This was a cross-sectional study. For genetic (P53 and hMLH1) study of the gastrectomized tissue DNA extraction and optimization, we performed PCR amplification and DNA sequencing. HER2 was studied by immunochemical technique. The results were associated with tumor status, age and sex, smoking, and H pylori antibody status of the patients. \u0000Results: The mean age of the patients was 52.91 (±13.94) years. Among the 45 patients selected for genetic tests, 12 aged 40 or more and 33 aged over 40. Among the genes, 33(73.3%) in p53 and 17(37.7%) in hMLH1 were mutated, and 11(24.2%) in HER2 were found to be overexpressed. Chi square and regression analysis showed that they all had associations with H pylori positivity (p value 1). hMLH1 was associated with the location of the tumor, smoking, sex, blood group, and age, and p53 was found to be affected by extra salt intake, sex, blood group, and age of the patients (P≤.05 ). \u0000Conclusion: Genetic mutation was found in nearly all the patients with gastric cancer, which was significantly associated with H pylori infection. Method: In this retrospective cross-sectional study, we selected 42 patients referred to the molecular and cytogenetic department from 2013 to 2016 for initial assessment by immunohistochemical, flow cytometric, and cytogenetic studies. Chromosomal analysis was performed after a 72-hour unsynchronized culture and Giemsa banding; the result was reported according to ISCN 2016. Results: 32.5% of the patients showed an abnormal karyotype, of whom 53.8% were hyperdiploid and the rest were assigned to the non-hyperdiploid group. The gain of 1q and monosomy 13 / deletion 13q was the most common structural abnormalities accounting for 38.4% and 30.7%, respectively. t (11;14) was the only detected 14q32 rearrangement observed in 15.4% of the cases. The mean survival time in normal, hyperdiploid, and non-hyperdiploid groups were 29.5±1.7, 16.6±2.9 and 6.1±2.1 months, respectively. Conclusion: Cytogenetic abnormalities of plasma cell myeloma in this center were relatively similar to previous reports in the literature; moreover, hyperdiploidy was the most common cytogenetic aberration. Therefore, we recommend the use of more precise techniques such as FISH in addition to conventional G banding to detect cryptic aberrations. Survival of the non-hyperdiploid group was the worst.

This study aimed to explore the public attitudes toward cancer and cancer patients in Jordan. \u0000Method: A cross-sectional design was used to conduct this online survey study in Jordan between March 20th and April 20th 2020.The sample was conveniently selected, and 1157 participants were included from the public. The Public Attitudes toward Cancer Questionnaire was employed. \u0000Results: Descriptive statistics, unpaired t-test, ANOVA, and multiple linear regression were utilized. The mean age was 44.2 years (SD= 20.1), and 53% were female. The total mean attitude score was 38.2 (SD = 4.3). Based on the results, having a family member or a friend with cancer (P=.003), willingness to be informed about cancer diagnosis (P=0.001), informing a friend about cancer diagnosis (P=0.021), and willingness to participate in screening and early detection programmes (P<0.001) were significant predictive positive attitudes towards cancer and cancer patients. In addition, being married predicted more negative attitudes compared with being single (P=0.001) \u0000Conclusion: This study demonstrated that Jordanians had positive attitudes toward cancer and cancer patients and most were willing to be informed about cancer diagnosis. This calls for healthcare providers to adopt shared decision models when devising health care plans for cancer patients, with more involvement on the parts of both patients and family members rather than adopting a paternal approach. Policy makers and managers should consider positive attitudes when developing healthcare programmes to enhance public participation in early cancer detection and screening programmes so as to reduce cancer mortality and morbidity rates.

Diagnosis confirmed breast cancer, a mastectomy, and multiple lines of chemotherapy. Later on, the patient developed liver metastasis and received whole liver radiotherapy (WLRT) for diffuse liver metastasis. This phenomenon is still the most prevalent site of metastases, particularly in lung, breast, and gastrointestinal cancers owing to its rich, dual blood supply and its role as a filter in the portal circulation. Conventional treatment approaches are not effective in such patients due to diffuse liver involvement; thus, the use of low-dose WLRT is considered as a good alternative. In practice, palliative liver irradiation is a rare modality due to radiation-induced hepatitis. However, WLRT treatment aims at the palliation of symptoms and improving the patients’ quality of life rather than enhancing survival. Results of the present case report also showed that WLRT in patients with poor performance status would ultimately improve their palliative symptoms and overall quality of life withacceptable morbidity.

Peritoneal lavage is associated with long-term survival in patients with gastric cancer. Diagnostic peritoneal lavage (DPL (is a method for diagnosing visceral injury in trauma patients. This study aimed to investigate the usage of DPL in staging the workup of patients with gastric cancer. Method: In this prospective study, we enrolled gastric cancer patients referring to Cancer Institute; they underwent DPL, and washing specimen was sent for cytology review. After DPL, all patients underwent SL via the same abdominal incision. Results: DPL and SL were successful in all patients. There were six (11%) cases of peritoneal seeding discovered in SL; all of these patients had positive peritoneal cytology on DPL. Also, four patients showed positive cytology in the absence of positive SL. Thus, sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value, positive predictive value, and accuracy of DPL were 100 % (95% CI: 54.1-100), 91.6 % (95%: 79.2-97.5), 100 % (95%CI: 85.3-100), and 60 % (95%CI: 37-79.3). The accuracy of DPL in determining the peritoneal dissemination of gastric cancer was 92.31% (95% CI: 81.5-97.9). Conclusion: DPL had an excellent ability to find peritoneal dissemination in a gastric cancer patient, which is of great value in the setting of low resource countries.

Pre-operative serum level of SP was measured using a commercial ELISA kit. The tissue distribution of NK1-R was assessed immunohistochemically. \u0000Results: The serum level of SP in the patient group was higher than the healthy volunteers (P-value =.005). Besides, the expression of NK1-R was higher in tumoral tissues compared with their normal surroundings (P-value =.005). However, we observed no significant correlation between either SP level or NK1-R expression and the disease stage or lymph node involvement. \u0000Conclusion: SP level and NK1-R expression were upregulated in PTC patients, showing the involvement of SP/NK1R complex in PTC pathophysiology. In Iran, it is the most prevalent cancer diagnosed in women. The objective of this study was to assess the cure rate of patients and the associated risk factors. \u0000Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 446 patients with breast cancer admitted to the Shahid Ramezanzadeh Radiotherapy Center. Using R 3.2.2 software, the Kaplan-Meier curve, log-rank test, and cure joint frailty model were utilized in the analysis. \u0000Results: Of the 446 patients, 17.3% died, 20% experienced relapse, and 62.7% were censored. The 1-5-7-year disease-free survival rates were 95.3%, 73.4%, and 69.3%, respectively. In the cure model, stage, involved lymph node, and surgery were statistically significant. In the recurrence model, stage, involved lymph node, lymphovascular invasion, and hormone therapy were statistically significant.
