However, to date, few tools exist in the literature when it comes to evaluating protocol performance in scenarios implying the coexistence of heterogeneous access technologies. We report herein, an extension of an open-source simulation framework for OMNeT++ (INET) to simulate interference impact on the coexistence of IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15.4 in the 2.4GHz ISM bands. We extended the interference module of INET to take into account inter-technology and inter-channel interferences.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"46 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121017242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present a proof of concept in which we evaluate the robustness of a blockchain-based application in an ad hoc network confronted with split merge problems that may be caused by node mobility. We highlight how a blockchain should behave according to the network state and we measure its cost in terms of network load. We show that the measurements depend greatly on the mining algorithm used to solve the consensus.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128833593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Zero-forcing reception (ZFR)/zero-forcing transmission (ZFT) processing technique is used in the relay. The asymptotic spectral efficiency (SE) under four power scaling schemes is derived and validated by numerical results. Results show that the loop interference due to the FD nature of the relay can be eliminated by scaling down the transmitted power of the sources and the relay.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126801623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To estimate the available bandwidth active probing techniques may be used, but they cause an intrusive effect on the network affecting TCP performance. Therefore, passive measurements are favored, though capturing traffic traces comes with its own challenges. In this paper, we use the feedback provided by TCP acknowledgments and perform the estimation from sender-side measurements only. However, difficulties arise when in the presence of discrete random cross traffic, multiple tight links, packet losses, and inaccurate timestamping in general, the acknowledgment packet gaps get distorted. To deal with noise-afflicted packet gaps, we consider a machine-learning approach, specifically the neural network, for estimating the available bandwidth. We also apply the neural network under a variety of notoriously difficult conditions that have not been included in the training, such as multiple tight links, heavy cross traffic burstiness and packet losses. We compare the performance of our proposed method with a state-of-the-art model-based technique, where our neural network approach shows improved performance.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122359718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The number of retransmissions is decreased, leading to a shorter end-to-end latency, a better end-to-end reliability and a larger network lifetime. Despite the advancement of research, it is challenging to find an IoT constrained device operating system (OS) that can fill all IoT needs. The purpose of this paper is to implement the synchronization protocol SiSP under IoT OSs and to compare these selected OSs according to their power consumption. Study results show that RIOT OS is a better choice than FreeRTOS due to its efficient power consumption.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"156 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132347709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Edaphic and climatic data were collected from olive groves and analyzed by Self-Organizing Maps (SOMs). SOM is a non-supervised neural network that projects high-dimensional data onto a low-dimension topological map, while preserving the neighborhood. In this paper, we show how SOMs enable farmers to determine clusters of olive groves, to characterize them, to study their evolution and to decide what to do to improve the nutritional quality of oil. SOM can be integrated in the Intelligent Farming System to boost conservation agriculture.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"78 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132348633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This entitles maximum utilization of the available wireless spectrum. Given that some of the spectrum bands are underutilized, e.g. radar band. In this paper, we study the utilization of the radar spectrum for commercial cellular usage for meeting future generations of cellular systems' spectral demands. We propose to avoid destructive high power interference from seaborne radar transmitters with high power that can saturate the cellular base station receivers by using a projection based approach. Additionally, in our design, the radar transmitters will be cooperating with cellular system by transmitting useful broadcast communication signal. Towards that, we study the channel between seaborne multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar system and MIMO cellular systems. The high power radar signal is projected onto the small singular value subspace of the channel, and therefore, reaches the base station with low power. In our design, the small singular values are selected so that the received power at the cellular base stations is within acceptable cellular system power constraints. Simulation results show that the amount of power transmitted from the radar to the base station increases as the threshold increases, which allows the radar to be cooperatively capable of transmitting communication signals to cellular base stations. Moreover, as the threshold increases, the accuracy of localizing the radar target increases.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123063558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, we consider a scenario when a platoon of negotiating vehicles approaches the intersection. The platoon leader should negotiate the passage of its following vehicles from the traffic light to enable them to reach their destinations as soon as possible. However, some platooned member vehicles try to destroy platoon stability. In this paper, we considered the VPD (Vehicle platooning disruption) attacks, where an attacker seeks to destabilize or take control of a platoon through false data injection (FDI) and replay of control messages. To conceive a countermeasure to this attack, first, we propose a VPD Attacks Detection Algorithm (VPD-ADA), which can identify the instability of the platoon dynamics model as a primary step for mitigating the impact of FDI and replay attacks. We use stochastic time series analysis to evaluate the impact of VPD attacks by the deviation anomalies of cartesian coordinates of vehicles from the expected trajectory determined by the platoon. Second, we introduce a Reputation-based Reliable Mitigation Algorithm (RRMA) that uses fused information from neighboring vehicles to decide the reliability of received messages.","PeriodicalId":440043,"journal":{"name":"2019 8th International Conference on Performance Evaluation and Modeling in Wired and Wireless Networks (PEMWN)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121562340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
