Based on microstrip theory, microstrip filter can be designed with professional EDA simulation software. This article describes the design of a 16-20GHz band-pass filter. It is applied in the stimulate source of vector network analyzer after verified on PCB. Numerical results show that, with the help of wavenumber modulation, sub-diffraction-limit informations can be carried to far-field region and recorded. At last, time reversal imaging processes are applied to reconstruct the image of two small dipole sources with a resolution smaller than 0.5λ. Cai, Minghui Yun","doi":"10.1109/ICMMT.2016.7761724","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICMMT.2016.7761724","url":null,"abstract":"A microwave dielectric characterisation procedure only employing a single metal-insulator-metal (MIM) structure is presented to extract accurately dielectric properties of SiO2 thin films deposited on Pt/SiO2/Si substrate up to 1GHz. The procedure is a one-port reflection measurement. And the reflection coefficient S11 of the microwave signal is extracted during the measurement by the vector network analyzer accompanied with the microprobes. An equivalent circuit model of MIM structure is built to eliminate the parasitic effect existing in the structure. The admittance parameter that represents the intrinsic properties of the dielectric thin films is obtained by analyzing the equivalent circuit model physically and dealing with the physical equations masterly. The dielectric properties of SiO2 thin films extracted from the admittance without parasitic effect can match with the reference value favorably in measurement frequency range, which indicates that the parasitic effect is corrected effectively. Full-wave simulations based on coupling matrix theory have been used to synthesize and optimize the proposed filter. A coupling aperture interface structure is developed for experiments. As demonstrations, the proposed multilayer SIW filter is fabricated on a 1.016 mm thick RO5880 substrate with a compact footprint as small as 3.7 mm by 13mm, and measured by vector network analyser (VNA). Good agreement is obtained between simulated and measured results. The proposed metasurface is comprised of carefully arranged unit cells with spatially varied dimension, which enables approximate uniform diffusion of incoming electromagnetic energy and avoids reflection at the specular direction. A theoretical model based on reflectarray theory is introduced to demonstrate the operating principle of the metasurface. By utilizing Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) and a fast far-field scattering pattern analysis method based on Inverse Fast Fourier transform technology (IFFT), a rapid and efficient design method is demonstrated. A metasurface sample is fabricated and tested to validate RCS reduction behavior predicted by full wave simulation. The circuit is composed of the couple lines and resonators instead of conventional transmission lines, which can be considered as an integration of a conventional divider and a dual-band filter. The structure can provide better isolation, dual passband, direct current (DC) block characteristic and compact size. The design is validated by experimental results on a 1.57/3.5GHz dual-frequency power divider. The dispersion characteristics of the SSPPs structure are analyzed by the length of grooves study. The circular metasurface provides a way to convert spatial propagating waves to the SSPP waves. For application, we design a novel and attractive waveguide slot antenna loaded with the circular metasurface to enhance the beam width.
