To investigate this objective, former PhD candidates ( N = 88, 51 % female, response rate 49 %), who participated in international PhD-courses in Sport and Exercise Psychology, were asked to complete an online survey to evaluate course elements of international PhD-courses hosted at Copenhagen and Leipzig University between 2009 and 2018. Networking opportunities, intercultural skill development, communicating in English, and acquisition of knowledge about Sport and Exercise Psychology-specific topics are reported as the most valuable aspects of international PhD-courses. Additionally, participants evaluated PhD-project presentations, workshops focusing on academic skills (e. g., publishing) and opportunities for social interaction as most profitable. Independent of participants’ PhD-phase, the majority of students reported sustainable benefits from their participation (e. g., co-publications). Academic funding (e. g., scholarships) seems to be an important factor for course participation. Recommendations for the implementation of international PhD-courses in Sport and Exercise Psychology include creating networking opportunities, offering workshops on academic skills, allowing time for informal interactions, and focusing on inclusion of PhD candidates from across the globe.","PeriodicalId":43878,"journal":{"name":"Zeitschrift Fur Sportpsychologie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135806704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Besonders ihr Erleben und Verhalten bei Wettkämpfen wird durch emotionale Belastungen beeinflusst. Bisherige Literatur untersucht zumeist die Erfahrungen von Eltern in leistungsorientierten Sport-Kontexten. Ziel dieser Studie war es daher, eine Übertragung der aus der Literatur etablierten wettkampf-bezogenen Stressoren auf Eltern im Breitensport zu prüfen. Dazu wurden bisher unveröffentlichte qualitative Daten von 90 Elternteilen aus dem breitensportorientierten Fußball analysiert und anschließend mit den Ergebnissen einer mixed-method Studie aus dem leistungsorientierten Fußball verglichen. Mittels Qualitativer Inhaltsanalyse wurden 11 wettkampfbezogene Stressbereiche von 90 Elternteilen identifiziert. Situationen mit dem eigenen Kind (32 %), anderen Eltern (17 %) sowie Trainer_innen (15 %) bildeten den Großteil der insgesamt 239 Stressoren ab. Im Vergleich zu Daten aus Fußball-Leistungszentren zeigt sich weitgehende Übereinstimmung der berichteten Stressoren, jedoch scheinen stressauslösende Situationen mit dem eigenen Kind weniger salient zu sein. Abschließend werden Handlungsempfehlungen für angewandt arbeitende Sportpsycholog_innen, Vereine und Trainer_innen gegeben.","PeriodicalId":43878,"journal":{"name":"Zeitschrift Fur Sportpsychologie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135806708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wie sollten sich Sportpsychologinnen und Sportpsychologen dazu positionieren? Ausgehend von Praxisbeispielen widmet sich dieser Beitrag dem Forschungsstand zu Winning Ugly und Trash Talk in der Praxis des Leistungssports. Als Rahmenkonzept für eine vertiefte Diskussion und die Ableitung erster Konsequenzen und Interventionsmöglichkeiten vor allem im Fußball, wird ein ökosystemischer Zugang gewählt. Dieser diskutiert Erscheinungsformen, potentielle psychologische Ursachen und Zusammenhänge für Spieler_in, Trainer_in, Mannschaft, Eltern und Verein. Die so charakterisierte Praxis des „Gewinnen um jeden Preis“ wird vor dem Hintergrund der Verwendung von injunktiven und deskriptiven Normen und Werten im System Leistungssport diskutiert. Mit Bezug zum professionellen Handeln in der Angewandten Sportpsychologie werden abschließend Thesen im Umgang mit beispielhaften Winning Ugly Verhaltensweisen zur Diskussion gestellt.","PeriodicalId":43878,"journal":{"name":"Zeitschrift Fur Sportpsychologie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43008244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Das Ziel der vorliegenden Studie war es, ein Messinstrument zur Erfassung dieser Handlungskompetenzen zu entwickeln und dessen Reliabilität, Konstruktvalidität und kriteriumsbezogene Validität zu untersuchen. Dazu wurden die Studie 1 mit 1 015 Teilnehmenden (48.9 % weiblich) mit einem Durchschnittsalter von 29.8 ( SD = 13.5) Jahren und die Studie 2 mit 240 Teilnehmenden (48.0 % weiblich) mit einem Durchschnittsalter von 25.4 ( SD = 9.3) Jahren durchgeführt. Insgesamt weist der Fragebogen hinreichende Reliabilität und Konstruktvalidität auf. Die kriteriumsbezogene Validität konnte anhand der signifikanten Korrelationen mit der PACES-Skala gezeigt werden. Die Ergebnisse der Studie 1 deuteten auf einen Halo-Effekt hin, bei dem die Beurteilung der Sportkursteilnehmenden von der Sympathie für die Übungsleitenden abhing. Dieser Befund konnte auch in der Studie 2 gezeigt werden.","PeriodicalId":43878,"journal":{"name":"Zeitschrift Fur Sportpsychologie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43272083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The psychometric quality of these scales as a whole has been determined according to classic test theory but it has not been assessed at the item level. Thus, the present research assessed the psychometric properties of the German derivative of this instrument, the German Wettkampfangst-Inventar-State (WAI-S; Ehrlenspiel et al., 2009 ) at the item level and tested a revised and extended version of the WAI-S by using an analytical approach based on item response theory. In Study 1, graded response models (GRMs) were fitted to the three subscales of the WAI-S using the original dataset collected for its development. We provided evidence indicating the sufficient psychometric properties of the somatic subscale, but we also identified some unfavorable properties of items in the cognitive anxiety and the self-confidence subscales. Thus, in Study 2, a revised and extended 16-item version of the WAI-S with 10 new items was generated and administered to a new sample of 322 German athletes. On the basis of the GRM results, we identified items with poor quality. We subsequently selected 12 appropriate items to generate a revised version of the WAI-S with stronger psychometric properties than the original instrument. We believe that the revised version of the WAI-S will increase the usability of competitive state anxiety assessments in both research and practice.","PeriodicalId":43878,"journal":{"name":"Zeitschrift Fur Sportpsychologie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44953804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, we analyzed how many games end after two or after three sets. We compared three models making different predictions: the psychological momentum model (PMM), the strategic effects model (SEM), and the independent probability model (IPM). In line with the PMM and the SEM, the results showed that regardless of how strictly we controlled for ability, there were always significantly more two-set than three-set matches (33 – 44 % three-set matches). In line with the SEM, but not the PMM, the analysis of almost 1,000 three-set matches between equally skilled players suggested that in a third set neither the winner of the first nor the winner of the second set has an advantage in the third set.","PeriodicalId":43878,"journal":{"name":"Zeitschrift Fur Sportpsychologie","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2023-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44616970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"心理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
