This study proposes a domain adaptation approach to transfer knowledge acquired from raw coffee beans to the task of inspecting roasted beans. The method maps the source and target data, originating from different distributions, into a shared feature space while minimizing distribution discrepancies with domain adversarial training. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach effectively uses annotated raw bean datasets to achieve a high-performance quality inspection system tailored specifically to roasted coffee beans.","PeriodicalId":43808,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.3,"publicationDate":"2024-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141667373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modulation techniques employed are frequency-shift keying (FSK) and the BELLHOP module of MATLAB; they are used to create water with multipath, Doppler shifts, and additive Gaussian white noise such that underwater acoustic receiving signals simulating the actual ocean environment can be obtained. The southwest coastal area of Taiwan is simulated in the manuscript. The results reveal that optimizing the environment by using the virtual time reversal mirror (VTRM) technique can generally mitigate the bit error rates (BERs) of the deep learning network’s model receiver and traditional demodulation receiver. Lastly, seven deep learning networks are deployed to demodulate the FSK signals, and these approaches are compared with traditional demodulation techniques to determine the deep learning network techniques that are most suitable for marine environments.","PeriodicalId":43808,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140373780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Experimental tests provide limited data due to the small specimen size and brittle nature of the material. A finite element (FE) model is constructed and validated by laboratory data to analyze the stress-strain responses and failure mode. The model enables a detailed description of stress patterns, stress propagation, and redistribution of layers beneath the bee design. The study concludes that a 3D crop circle-inspired design significantly influences the ultimate load-carrying capacity and stress-related behavior. The load-deformation response is nonlinear, and the coloring influences the thickness of coatings, further affecting the ultimate load and initial stiffness. Furthermore, designs with convex details result in an arc action, deviating the stress concentrations away from the line of loading. The FE model slightly overestimates the initial stiffness but represents the ultimate load and load-displacement response with high accuracy.","PeriodicalId":43808,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140377545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A multilayer structure of metal-ferroelectric-metal-insulator-semiconductor is used as the gate, as well as the remanent polarization and coercive field values corresponding to HZO are used. The DIBLs obtained with the proposed model demonstrate good agreement with those obtained using the second derivative method, which relies on the 2D relationship between drain current and gate voltage. The results demonstrate that an increase in ferroelectric thickness leads to a negative DIBL value due to the ferroelectric charge. Additionally, there exists an inverse relationship between ferroelectric thickness and channel length to achieve a DIBL value of 0. This condition is satisfied only with the increase of the ferroelectric thickness as the channel radius and insulator thickness increase. The DIBLs increase with higher remanent polarization and lower coercive field, remaining constant when the ratio of remanent polarization and coercive field is maintained.","PeriodicalId":43808,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140376498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Processing technology can be used, namely biofilters. This study aims to design and construct a closed-house biofilter and perform a test on the biofilter to reduce odors. Odors are measured by the odor gas concentration (ammonia and hydrogen sulfide) and hedonic scale by the panel method. The biofilter consisted of an odor source (closed house), a humidifier, and a biofilter reactor. Factors that influence the size of the biofilter reactor from gas removal activities include air flow rate, retention time, and air volume. The proposed biofilter can reduce the odor from the broiler. Reactor temperature, relative humidity, and bacterial activity affect odor reduction. This successful implementation of a biofilter significantly mitigates odors in a closed-house broiler, addressing a critical environmental concern.","PeriodicalId":43808,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140375967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a complementary means against this, the pumped storage hydropower plants (PSHP) are attracting attention as energy storage systems (ESS), but it has high construction costs. Therefore, this study aims to improve the economic feasibility by developing the evaluation model of the existing infrastructure into an upper/lower dam suitable for PSHP. The concept of upper dam capacity is newly defined, and the evaluation index is constructed using normalization. A new evaluation system is presented for five factors: environment, stability, energy, capacity, and economy. Finally, it is tested in the pilot area in Korea. Several candidates, including the PSHP in operation, are found to have been distributed with higher scores. These results will help to satisfy the selection of candidates during the preliminary feasibility study phase, and programming them will enable more accurate and rapid assessment.","PeriodicalId":43808,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Engineering and Technology Innovation","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140376861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A multi-objective fitness function is constructed to evaluate the S-box structure, aiming to identify design solutions that satisfy differential probability, linear probability, and non-linearity balance. To achieve global optimization and local search for the S-box, a hybrid algorithm model that combines genetic algorithm and simulated annealing is introduced. This approach yields significant improvements in optimization effects and increased non-linearity. Experimental results demonstrate that the optimized S-box significantly reduces differential probability and linear probability while increasing non-linearity to 112. Furthermore, a comparison of the ciphertext entropy demonstrates enhanced encryption security with the optimized S-box.
