In this experimental study, a novel PBS-based phase change material (PCM) was synthesized to be applied in concrete systems to increase thermal resistance. Box-Behnken design was followed to produce a total of 14 samples with different reaction times, catalyst concentrations, and glycerin concentrations (which acted as additives). All of the samples were able to decrease the regular melting point of PBS from 110oC to around 68oC, showing a significant improvement that allows the use of this material to improve the thermal properties of concrete systems.","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128443193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was due to his search for flame-resistant materials that were harmless to the environment and human health. These materials were produced by reacting aluminosilicates in alkaline solution. However, over time, it was discovered that it was possible to produce the same material via an acidic route, using phosphoric acid. In this sense, this work aimed the production of geopolymers in acid medium and the insertion of 10%, 25% and 50% of conductive charge to produce a geopolymer capable of conducting electric charge. To verify the conductive capacity of the material, the resistivity test, and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) were performed to investigate the loss of mass as a function of temperature. The tests were performed in triplicates and the data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey method and the results showed that the values were different from each other, indicating the domination of resistivity with increasing polyaniline concentration.","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114888553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Amid the revolution of the fourth technological age that occurs in our society, the demand for professionals with programming skills stands out. A first challenge in this context concerns how to train professional programmers, in a current, effective, and versatile programming language. A second challenge concerns how to provide this professional with a useful programming base for experimental planning and data analysis, already integrating his programming learning with experimental planning theory. In line with these challenges, a Python language computer programming course was developed with application in the context of the Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The objective of this work is to present and discuss the short course, its construction methodology, and the results of this short course, which took place at the 1st Brazilian Conference on Experimental Planning and Data Analysis (ConBraPa 2020). The main results were: (i) participants learnt about basic programming logic, (ii) participants learnt about using basic instructions in the Python programming language, (iii) participants learnt how to create a randomized experimental sketch in the context of CRD using Python, (iv) elaboration of a specific short course construction methodology. It is noteworthy that, through evaluation with a questionnaire, it was possible to conclude that 100% of the participants in the short course who answered the questionnaire evaluated the short course as beneficial.","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130249537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, spills frequently take place in the ocean. Several alternatives have already been investigated to combat these disasters. This paper discusses the possibility of using lignocellulosic fibers for environmental recovery via the sorption of oil spilled in accidents. The data search was performed using Google Scholar. The obtained results allowed the choice of four fibers: coconut, sisal, peat, and kapok. The retrieved reference numbers were 8.360, 6.360, 6.360, and 2.380 for coconut, sisal, peat, and kapok fibers. There was no period restriction. Ten papers with significant results were chosen, and their main results are presented here. All fibers are renewable, besides presenting low cost and excellent sorption capability compared to polypropylene (commercial material) equal to 6 to 10 g/g of oil per gram of the sorber. for toluene, chloroform, n-hexane and xylene, respectively. The removal of vegetable wax did not affect the oils' sorption capability under analysis because the wax did not influence the sorption of low-density oils, but it affects the high-density oils engine diesel. So, after treatment, fibers presented a superior sorption result, being an excellent option for oil spills (144).","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134330977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Abstract: The contamination of water by organic dyes, such as methylene blue, is a risk factor for the environment, since all aquatic fauna and flora are immensely affected due to the reduction of the amount of dissolved oxygen and the passage of light, affecting the photosynthesis. The main source of contamination comes from the textile industry, so it is necessary to study efficient techniques for treating effluent without the cogeneration impact. In the present work, a study was developed to evaluate the best combination of factors of a batch treatment to be applied in a continuous treatment system. The removal of methylene blue by chemical oxidation was evaluated using sodium persulfate as an oxidizing agent. A complete experimental design 2 3 was devised to evaluate the effects of the activation of the oxidizing agent by iron sulfate (II) and visible light (LED), these being the factors. After this batch step, the tests that were efficient in degrading the contaminant were carried out in the continuous reactor. The degradation results showed that, in batch, the oxidation with activation of sodium persulfate by iron sulfate (II) is more efficient, removing 91.2% of the dye in 20 minutes. In the continuous reactor, activation with a visible light source showed greater conversion due to its greater contact surface with water contaminated with dye, removing 59.2% over 15 meters from the reactor and residence time of 109 seconds. Experimental design Adherence to the BJEDIS’ scope: This article presents a study based on the use of a 2 3 experimental design of a batch system for the analysis of variables that can be used alone and together for its application in a continuous reactor for the treatment of water contaminated with methylene blue and it is inserted in the category Biotechnology, biopolymers, biocatalysts, bioremediation, and ecotoxicology, covering all fields of environmental chemistry, environmental toxicology, and risk assessment.","PeriodicalId":438033,"journal":{"name":"Brazilian Journal of Experimental Design, Data Analysis and Inferential Statistics","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127078290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
